It's good to consult the one who created everything in a matter like this then go into dating blindly and not setting standards for yourself. The person you date could potentially be your partner for life so best to set standards, Godly standards are best because God is the one who created marriage and put guild lines in the bible that we can follow and marry the best person for us and also be best we can!

Great list! as long as the list is flexible in that you realize that we as men may have a willing heart to be a good husband but need to learn some things. 2 as long as you dont make premature judgments about a man because he doesnt say or do the right things when you think he should do it. When you talk about women submitting to their husbands, I thought of Confucius. He had the same idea. He also emphasized the importance of "rectification of names". A person with the title of king, who does not rule with justice as a king should, is not a king. A cup that does not hold water should not be called a cup. He said that to promote harmony, we should all fulfill our roles. So I suppose he would say a man who quotes the verse without following the next verse himself, is not a man.

@KagomeHHaruhiF Lol, I think maybe what you are viewing as an obsession with Christ is a deep love for him. For me and others, being a Christian is more than going to church on Sunday, being religious, even doing service acts or merely following the ‘rules’. For me, being a Christian is having a deep personal relationship with him. And instead of just viewing religion and Jesus as the ‘right’ thing to do, or something that I know is right I must do, its more about Jesus’s love for me.

He wants to have an intimate and personal relationship with us in which our faith in him, our relationship with him, and our lives are all interconnected instead of separate. He wants us to base our actions not just merely on his law, but also on his love for us and ours for him.

@dbrider93 Well, most religions are actually faith based, as for the bibles definition of faith that would be "Now faith is the substantiating of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Meaning in order to be a Christian, you must have faith. God will reveal himself to you, the bible says "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." Or that the existence, life, & death of Jesus have been historically proven? Or that miracles from the Bible such as the parting of the Red Sea have been proven using scientific method? Relationships should be based on GOD because without him things go down hill (I speaj from experience). Also, it's not religion, its a way of life, Christ died so that we can live, so why not live your life for him? I love the person for WHO they are. Not what religion they are. Sure, maybe that's a part of them to you, but I look besides the point. I mean, it's not like im gonna marry someone who's religion it is to kill or behead people... I'll probably end up marrying someone of my own religion, but find that out later. @KagomeHHaruhiF . So after I deepened my relationship with Christ I also REALLY realized that nothing would be possible for me without him. As for dating someone of the same religion, I try not to get caught up in that too much, the main thing is same views on Christ and God, however dating outside your religion and denomination could complicate things later because one of you will most likely have to convert.

@KagomeHHaruhiF As for dating an atheist, I would steer you away from that, because the bible calls us to be ‘equally yoked’, and dating an atheist or non-believer would make you unequally yoked, plus, how could you date someone who hates/or does acknowledge or believe in your savior and your God? Another thing to keep in mind with relationships is making sure you guys share the same vision, so you can keep on the path and purpose that God has given you both for you life!

Jeesh... Why is everyone here so obsessed with christ? I mean, sure, I care, I go to religion and church, and pray every night, but why would anyone base their relationship on god? Let the Lord into your heart and submit to him before you submit to someone else, you will see the difference in your relationship. Its great to find someone to accept for who they are especially if thats what you want :) God blessed us with our own free will.

@KagomeHHaruhiF A couple years back it finally became real to me, the cross and Jesus’s sacrifice he made for me. He went on the cross in my place to bridge the gap between God and I. Before Jesus people had to actually kill animals and shed blood for our sins to be forgiven, because the penalty for sin is DEATH. How terrible!! So, I realized that I really do owe God my life, and from then on I based everything on God and Christ, instead of everything around God and Christ.

Yes, I understand where you’re coming from and I think that many women hate to hear the word ‘submit’, BUT the same bible verse that calls women to submit to their husband also calls man (husband) to LOVE his wife as Christ loved the church and gave his body for her, meaning the husband will die for the wife.

@614queenbee ...So in a good Christian relationship, both the man would be loving (real love) the wife, and wife would be submitting to him. If a man was really loving a wife, he would never be harsh with you, like the “you speak, I obey” example you gave is not real love. If the man loved he wouldn’t be harsh, he would treat you exactly like Christ treated the church. For a good definition to what love is check out 1 Corinthians 13! Stay blessed my sister!

Yeah I hate the submit to your husband line, people use it as a way of justifying Abuse sometimes. That wasn't God's original plan, before sin. God form woman, from the side of man not form the foot, because she wan't intended to be trampled upon, nor form the head, to be ruler over her husband, but from his rib, right under his arms. She was to be his help-meet. His companion, his equal...

@Dec986 I agree with you that people can misuse the submission line and its sad..However the bible does call women as a man’s wife to submit to their husband, AND in turn the husbands are called to LOVE their wives as Christ loved the church. Ultimately Christ died for us and husbands are also called to do so for their wives. So since the wife is submitting to the husband, and husband is loving the wife, in essence they are both equally submitting to each other.
