Don't forget that while Toyota makes the Prius, it also makes the Sequioa and Land Cruiser which I see people misuing as well...by hauling themselves. This vehicle does have fuel economy in mind and isn't obnoxiously big at all (I drove the 4 cyl and 6 cyl)
@RiseAbove300 I have no love for toyota. the prius is just a contrast, not an absolute endorsement. if toyota were a good carmaker they would have only aerodynamic monocoque fiber glass plugin hybrids by now. the prius is just a halfway efficient gas car. not lightweight battery electric drive as it should be
The design was very bold. I wasn't sure it would catch on at first but the more I look at it, the more I think its such a perfect look for an aggressive crossover. I saw one in person and I love the front now.
@CrazyToiletSmasher no if they stopped making dumbass SUVs and made cars with a plugin hybrid drive train and body of fiber composite so they only weigh half and the energy usage would be ten times less than this behemoth, that would be great
The 2011 Chevy Volt is going to be a plug-in hybrid and the Chevy Corvette has an all fiber glass body. Anyway, I don't know of any other major automakers that make a vehicle with a fiberglass body.
Sure, Plugins get great fuel economy but people don't want to buy them unless gas is $4 a gallon. At the current gas prices people would rather have SUVs because they have much more room and they are a lot safer.
@CrazyToiletSmasher if everyoen drives these then there is no safety gain. it is a wrong direction because why not drive tanks then. then even super stupid 3 ton vehicles like the escalade is just a stain on the front

the prius gets almost twice the mileage. carries your kids.
