  • i wish dragon age use metal musics istead of opera ones

  • @poyrazpasha dear god, no

  • I wish this song played all the way through the DA2 prologue. Would make it so much more epic.

  • I just realized how awesomely this would go with a LOTR video. Sounds like it would fit so well to the allies arriving at the battle for Helm's Deep or for the one at Minas Tirith.

  • it's sad you can't save Lothering...

  • @87Timbuktu For Ferelden!!!!!!

  • 0:11-1:00 I wish Youtube had a A-B repeat function so I could listen to this part over and over easily.

  • Join us, brothers and sisters. Join us in the shadows where we stand vigilant. Join us as we carry the duty that cannot be forsworn. And should you perish, know that your sacrifice will not be forgotten and that one day, we shall join you.

  • @CRACKandBOOM that is one epic way to be joined into the grey wardens..such a speech, i love it!!!!

  • @Fkedrick if you think DA:O is dark and bloody try The Witcher...

  • @MisterMortarious The Witcher 2 has some of the best Soundtracks i've heard in the recent years !

my favourite is "The Path of a Kingslayer"

  • great song, great game, great world!

  • @87Timbuktu Both which you don't have and are too fat to hold

  • Finally glad I found this piece. Best battle music by far.

  • God its too bad they didnt do a cutscene where you can see the Battle of Lothering:This music while bandit and templar alike turn to face the Darkspawn

    epic........

  • i agree the melodie starting at 0,11 and 2,26 is werry beautiful

  • when is DA:O2 out?

  • @zorbak138 march8

  • 1:24 is soooo Peter Parker! Awesome piece >.<

  • I love the way the music quiets and pauses on the brink at 2:23, then the glory of the choir comes in. Reminds me of the unexpected ally, who turns up when the battle is grim. A lot of thought must have been put into this piece.

  • @BingtheLizard can't believe they didn't put this in the last battle instead. your thought of allies fits perfectly there where you're aided by many important characters

  • 1:17 sounds like dune sea or somthin

  • reminds me of starwars in some point

  • @sonne2 same thing here dude

    specially at 0:30 O.o

  • This Lothering theme 0:08 could also be used as Hawke's theme in the sequel, it's heroic sounding enough.

  • any1 knows when DA2 drops ?

  • @Spieshnikov March 11, 2011

  • @TheElholm thank you kind sir ;D

  • this is the WORST place to put this music. None of the battle music is as epic as this D:

  • @JangoWuzHere

This would have worked better during any one of the Boss Dragon battles. I can imagine this in the final battle against the Archdemon.

  • the feelings this song brings out, on a dark battlefield, fighting a grim battle against a seemingly endless horde, as you take a blow on your shield, you see another friend fall, but you don't stop, because even though there is little hope, you try your hardest to cling on to what little there is left of it.

  • @HuMan7371 I'ma put that on myspace,

  • @HuMan7371 wow I can actually see this happening at the battle of Ostagar

  • I love Dragon Age. My first walkthrough is 91 hours and I will replay DAO min. 7 times.

I play ME2 3 times and I finish it. Dragon Age is more replayable and has more unique choices, than ME2.

Both Game are awesome, but if you play more, then you play DAO.

  • @ForsakenZOL Yeah DAO is more of a RPG and has the many elements that make them great: exploration, choices, character development, skill trees, equipment. One thing: I always dread the Mage's Tower, it's so tedious.

ME2 is more of an action game now, the 1st one was an ideal cross between Third-person shooters and RPGs but the 2nd one destroyed that.

  • BioWare Games Forever

  • This song is one of the most beautiful battle themes i've ever heard, at least the first minute of it. It's glorious

  • It seems like the title fits well to the DA2 story. In Da:o npcs only said Lothering was looted. With the news on Da2, it's said that Hawke survive the battle of lothering and move to the north (Kirkwall)

  • @thimy69 It's called "Battle of Lothering Village" because it's the battle theme in Lothering...there was no battle vs the Darkspawn in Lothering, they just overran it.

  • this is the best battle music in the game

shame that it only plays in lothering

  • This music is the best one.many are displeased because it only plays in lothering. But morning shows the day.

  • L(ord)o(f)the ring(s) = Lothering

  • @AWACStunderhead is the name actually related to the movie?

  • By far the best piece of music in the game. Don't get me wrong, Inon Zur is da bomb, and all of his music is great.

  • Its Lothlorien you twit

  • lothering is like Rohan before Gandalf cast out Saurumon from the King.

  • Even though its the 2nd best RPG out there...

  • Since Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 are both superior, that would place it third (though I'd make room for Final Fantasy before Dragon Age, which means it doesn't make it into my top 10). Dragon Age is a regression in every way except graphics, and even those are poor for 2009.

It's still undeniably a good game, but that's what is wrong with it: it is merely _good_ after having set a precedent of greatness with the Baldur's Gate series. Worthy successor it is not.

  • No, those are my 4th and 3th games, my 1st is Mass Effect 2

  • Don't forget about Planescape: Torment.

  • The story of Dragon Age is what makes it so wonderful, the characters are deep and you feel like you bond with throughout the game. Not to mention, the music is one of the best ever(right after mass effect 2). It's a worthy successor and a great game. I'm glad to have bought it and play it.

  • Lothering battle? I have never been in a battle there (apart from the bandits) did i miss something?

  • If you did all the quests or most of them in the area. You do battles with more bandits and wolfes and etc.

  • I think, that since this is suposed to be a dark and bloody game, that if this epic hero music plays all over the game- it wouldnt be as "scary" or dark as first intended. but I also hate its only played at lothering!

  • that's somehow true... If you listen to this music in the middle of deep roads, it would kill the dark atmosphere.

  • @thimy69 but it would give epic feeling for the gamer :D

  • @thimy69 but imagine this being played during the battle at the gates of denerim,

    it would be brilliant.

  • @Fjedrick

This game isn't really Dark Fantasy honestly. Even if the games says it is.

  • Bioware themselves said that Dragon Age is a "dark /heroic/ fantasy." it is supposed to be violent and scary, but there always has to be a glimmer of hope underneath. True enough, this kind of music shouldn't be played at every part of the game, but it wouldn't have hurt if they used this track more often.

  • @Fjedrick no i think a similar sound can be heard at arl eamon's estate... i dunno

  • beautiful, wonderful, wundebar, maravilhoso!

  • I think this would have been a better choice for the Battle of Denerim, fighting through the Darkspawn army and battling through the city to reach the Arch Demon

  • favorite battle theme for sure

  • This is definatly the BEST battle music in the game. The shitty part is you only hear it in Lothering.

  • Yeah it's fking awesome.. really got my hopes up, that if some shitty bandints had this epic music, what would the rest be :D

  • "Ferelden at War" has some good parts as well + the theme and a few others.

  • @XcomTitan1985 yes it captures the desperation in lothering, another bad part is its not in the OST

  • I love how the first half of the melody isn't very battle-like at all. It's quite sad, with just the lightest hint of desperation.

  • i think they wanted to make bandits and peasants battles quite epic...and the result is quite good.

  • You know the tavern fight with the soldiers in lothering? Whats that music called? :S

  • @CenturyGamer I think its just 'Tavern Fight', you get the soundtrack with the collecters edition of the game

  • Yay full soundtrack came out today!

  • Thanks alot for posting this.

  • Thanks for the upload! Loved this piece; disappointed they didn't use it more in-game.

Also just FYI, according to the to-be-released album on Amazon, the piece is called "The Battle of Lothering Village."

  • Thanks for the info. Edited!
