Why would ANYbody want to shoot a wombat? Well, maybe I can understand it they were very prolific and it was for food, but they obviously aren't fast at reproducing so they should NEVER be considered game animals, even if they weren't endangered and protected by law. Wombats cost around $ 1000 mark and a fair few people keep and breed them as pets .

Look up the Marsupial society of Victoria and Australia there isn't many natives you can't keep and they make awesome pets .
