Kinda weird that here in the US, they referred to the twins as Tomax and Xamot. In the Action Force commercial, they say Xamot and Tomax. They also drive on the opposite side of the road over there. Wait, I see a mirror connection here. The twins are as much mirror images as the US and England. Man, this is too weird! On another note, everyone keeps bringing up the different name. In Israel, it was called G.I. Jew. That was friggin' weird.
Just kidding. I love the British. They've been great allies. And many Action Force toys ARE pretty cool.
The American GI Joe convention this year is doing a Red Shadows set with the Black Major, 6 Red Shadow soldiers and 6 RS flamethrowers.
Also included in the main set is Flint, who was AF Commander in the British comics. Wouldnt be suprised if Baron Ironblood and Red Jackal show up in smaller packs
In my Joeverse Action Force is an independent peacekeeping force in the UK that co-operates with GI Joe. Big Ben is the commander and Action Man himself is a freelance agent
Baron Ironblood is a seperate entity from CObra Commander
@McGruff5150 Several videos were released with the theme song you heard in this advert in the starting credits. The cartoon was the same as G I Joe, only re-dubbed with actors of which for the most part did not sound like any of the actors they were meant to copy. They usually spoke to re dub G I Joe as Action Force, to say Full Force, instead of Yo Joe (Occasionally it came out as Yo Force) and any swearing was dubbed over, though Tempo Video did bodge it up a couple of times.
Action Force where the best figures as they had elastic band things in them so their waists would move, whereas Star Wars and Mask figures had fixed waists.
Originally it did - the first Action Force toys (before the line had anything to do with G.I. Joe) were explicitly billed as a small scale spin-off of Action Man.
Ah really. By the time I collected these, back in the day, they were already two separate toy lines. I do remember seeing some older action force toys that had a more british influence.
I loved this stuff - I remember those evil twins, I always wanted them and a rattler.. I had a good little collection as a kid but it all got destroyed and/or throw out - I wish I still had that stuff!!
I had the Devil Fish, Armadillo Tank, The Raven and the X-19. Along with a bunch of figures. I just saw the Flag Air Craft Carrier, WTF I never saw it before. Imagine the cost of that beast, even then?
Going UP a zip-line at a 45 degree angle actually would be an impressive trick.
Why does EVERY Action Force related vid's commentary have to degenerate into the exact same flamewar about renaming G.I.Joe for the international market? Sheesh...
@Bumblevivisector Actually it was the other way around. urope (mostily the UK) changed the name from G I Joe to Action Man/Action Force as G I's are in the American army, not in any European army. That's what it is for the most part. Everywhere else just had G I Joe.
It was called Action Force for Europe by Hasbro to make it sound less American. That's also why 'A Real American Hero' was changed to 'International Heroes'.

GI Joe ripoffs
speedbuggy 1 year ago
@speedbuggy This WAS G.I. Joe, it was given a different name as G.I.'s were exclusive to the American army and they don't serve Europe.

Was there an 'Action Force' version of the cartoon, and if so, how did the bloody theme song go? "He never gives up or goes to the dentist......"

It's good to see the UK version of the American hero. I wonder what would have happened if they did not change the name?

Sorry I just want to point out to nords that the title was wrong. Zamot and Tomax are called the 'Crimson Twins' not the 'Grimson Twins'.

It was called Action Force for Europe by Hasbro to make it sound less American. That's also why 'A Real American Hero' was changed to 'International Heroes'.
David315842 3 years ago
Well, perhaps, but it also falls more in line with the "Action Man" series from the 12 inch days in Europe.
romanoaj31 3 years ago
Again it was changed from the original G.I. Joe name to Action Man to make it sound less American.
