  • build up starts setting in on week three as well but doing hot oil treatments helps me reduce the build up too.wld be interesting to see if the alternating works for you. you are reminding me about how much i love yarn braids, i will install them on my next 'hari break' maybe next month.

  • @TheNaprika

Yes, it will be interesting cause I am determined to conquer this darn build-up or die trying! :-)

  • See, that sounds like me only I use the Femi kankelon hair (yep, check the vid girl) I put them in maybe two days prior to going out of town and as soon as I got back home I quickly took them out, I'm like you. I HATE BUILDUP eewwww! so to avoid it, I think I'll just keep them in for only 2 weeks then simply take them out. I will however try the tea, but as a sprizer (w/o the ACV)

  • @b76463

Awww! I am glad you were able to find it!

I wash my entire head with the tea. Take care!

  • Gosh, that's just too much to do!! taking them out, putting them back in, my goodness!lol. Maybe you can avoid build up by not putting product in the hair (roots) for the first week??? Or using them sparingly???

My bad! You didn't remove the comment! :-)

Hey, girl! I wished you hadn't removed your comment! You raised a good point! I have worn yarn consistently since Oct 2009 and I have tried everything - diluted shampoo, shampoo bar, spraying in conditioner, using no conditioner...Now, I just spray a spritz on my hair every few days, put oil on my scalp 1-2 times a week, and avoid my roots when I apply conditioner. I STILL get build-up. *sigh* I wonder if it is something about the yarn or my thin hair. Thank you for watching!

  • gosh time flies, i remember that video you uploaded a few weeks ago. alternating like that sounds good, less work each time, so not too overwhelming. I am going to experiment with Yarn Twists this coming winter, i am going to buy some yarn end of summer. your hair is getting so long under there. i couldn't see much (any) buildup from here. ahhh i do know that little "catch" you feel when buildup is starting to happen

  • @louloumatou

Yeah, I think this method will work for me. It will have to because I can't deal with that thick was of build-up anymore. I am so mad at myself for not treating my hair more carefully when removing the yarn. NEVER AGAIN!

  • @NappyNFree this is the thing, we are learning from our mistakes!

  • HI there,

I am still trying to get my fingers to work so I can install the yarn twists :-). I figure that three or four trials, then I will get it.

  • @TheNaturalmystery

You will get it! Just keep practicing!

  • Thanks for the videos. I have thick type 4b/c hair & I also use ayurvedic herbs to cleanse & condition my hair too. However I use them as paste. Perhaps if you kept the tea in your hair longer it could more effectively remove the buildup. I keep my ayur paste on for at least 2 hours and it always remove the buildup after keeping my hair in twists in for 1 month (my consistent routine for the past 2 years). I however always pre-poo heavily with oils before using these paste.

  • @Giapretzel

Hi there! Thanks for the suggestion. I also use the powders as a paste when not wearing yarn and I have to confess that I never thought of using ayurvedic powders to remove build-up! Thanks for sharing this!

  • @NappyNFree

a good clarifying shampoo could work too.

  • @tripudium17

Wow...I am gettting some really good suggestions from everyone. Thank you!

  • Can you do a tutorial on how to cornrow the front of your hair? I have seen several videos here on YT on cornrowing but none are really clear. Your tutorials are always so well done. btw, the yarn twists look good!

  • @cheathamk

Girl, I can BARELY cornrow. :-)

However, let me think about it. Maybe I CAN (in some feeble way :-) demonstrate for others......

    Thanks for watching!
