Notice how the models stood then-with the left leg angled out strait. They don't do that anymore+They mostly wore those srange bell bottom pant suits-very amusing now. And of course Janice Pennington-filed a paternity suit aganst barker and lawsuit after 20 y on show. Now we have Lenicia former model doin the same, claiming favortism by producers-guess some things will never change. Really miss the 70s hair though-too much work anymore-except east coast tropy chics and in europe...
Love that plug for the cigarette filter: "Aqua Filter: For you or someone you love." That would have definitely raised two eyebrows had this episode been set in 2011, that's for sure, lol.
One thing I miss about the "old school" TPiR is how each pricing game price was described with the sponsor's name. That is very rarely done nowadays, and I was told that the "little" prizes are no longer sponsored, the TPiR staff simply go to a store and buy them directly out of some prize petty cash budget. That sucks.
In this clip you can see the old-school salesman showmanship that was Bob Barker's trademark during his 35-year run on "Price". Because of that showmanship, it's easy to see why, compared to Drew Carey today, Bob may seem to sound sarcastic or insincere. It was a different era then, and this was how they kept the high energy of the show.
This video shows the MASSIVE difference between Hi-Fi SP VHS and 2" broadcast masters. For the masters to still be in pristine condition after 35 years--except for a little bit of hum--is beyond incredible.
That game carpeting is exactly the same carpet offered during the famous "Ruphina" episode in March 1975. She was famous for how she guessed the carpeting on the nose.
Hmm...I wonder how many of the younger viewers know that car winners of Money Game keep all the cash they earn as well. I first started watching the show in the early 90s, and I didn't know that until now.
Thanks. Most of my shows come from recorded tapes and DVDs and I used to use Medium Quality on Pinnacle Studio 11. For the past few months, Medium quality started to gave me subpar results. So now I'm spending more time with customized High quality. With that quality and also with an official DVD, the results should be nicer.

The qualty is excellent and picture is way much better than how people record it on an old VHS tape.

Hi-Lo must have been in existence since 1973. Lucky Seven was also a classic that debuted in 1973.

I just got the DVD set myself. It's pretty awesome to watch these old episodes in this quality.
I believe my box set isn't as cool as the originally released one, has no liner notes. Apparently all the same episodes are on it, though. :3

It's not a bootleg. I purchased an official DVD set from Best Buy. You can probably get it at Amazon or some other retail company.

I think Johnny Olson did well, but I prefer another Johnny as my favorite game show announcer.

They should added the perfect bid bonus earlier then 1977.
nextbarker 2 years ago 8
The perfect bids were scarce at the time, but as soon as more and more came around through '77, Goodson-Todman decided to add the bonus.
TVLubber 2 years ago
@nextbarker They didn't have that simplex fire alarm sound back then yet.
