For how nervous he seemed, he really is a great public speaker and brilliant wordsmith in general. My appreciation for Stephen Fry, though already deep, is now deeper!
@WasLilChrisnowbigish Having uncomfortably done public speaking, I can tell you that this coping mechanism is just right for someone with bipolar disorder, and the fact that Stephen is as chill as he is is a testament to that.
@jamaq I think the punchline refers to human being's tendency towards jealousy and envy (remember that Stephen was explaining that Wilde gave this parable when people were being bitchy- which usually means they're just jealous). The monk is jealous that his brother got to be the Bishop of Alexandria and- I guess-not him. I hope I got that right...
