Cracking Layout there! could you tell me the length and width of the space it occupies as i am looking to build something of a similar size using two bedrooms with a connecting tunnel!!
A great overview of your layout although I'd have appreciated a commentary to tell me what bits are called what. As for the "warps" you'll see similar on 12 inch to the foot scale in coal mining areas. Keep going!!
Got the makings of a nice layout & work in progress.Has the scenic where the yard & town is have a any frame work supporting the boards? If it it could may end up warping in the long run & could cause some running problems, which would be a shame as it's a nice layout & a lot of work has gone in to it. Nice to see a full length HST too.Cheers
No framework supporting the boards yet apart from the beams, but there will be shortly, as although the gradients look good theyre making the boards very very saggy
When you fit the frame it should stop any problems you may of had with any running probs. You'll have to do a video of the layout when you've done the framing.Nice layout.Cheers
Funny enough Stephen it looks very authentic and when I asked the question I expected it to be part of your clever planning.Ha ha!Mine is in the attic and when we had the warm weather earlier this year all the trackwork on one side warped and has recently been replaced, and that was with real stone ballast glued in with wood glue. It's the tremendous variation of temperature experienced in the attic that's the problem.Keep me informed of developments..Bob

oh shame but v nice mynes 18ft by 10 and how come you have the beams in the way we got ours taken out and the roof is still up lol but ace trains

The beams are what the base boards sit on, and are conveniently at waist height. We've thought about taking them out in the past.

What a magnificent layout Stephen, Are those inclines planned or is it the baseboard warping?
I must congratulate you on the track laying as it looks very true and accurate..well done..5*
robmasterman 3 years ago
The inclines are where the board has sagged between the beams, some support is planned for it at some point
