We were in Cumbria 2 years ago, a guy had his own little airfield and a 2 seater Cessna or similar. We watched him take off, and buzz about the valley. Then a pair of these came out of nowhere. he very rapidly got out of their way. but if he had reacted a second later, there would have been lots of spare parts scattered over the hills. I did wonder, who, if anyone was responsible for the near miss?
@romanbrough they wouldn't be doing lowlevel flying if they weren't in a LFA (Low Flying Area) - I know for a fact that Cumbria has LFA17 over it so he shouldnt have been there that low without Air Traffic permission. Doesn't matter if his "airstrip" was in there - he still needs ATC Clearance.
Would have been funnier with wings at full sweep and full throttle ;-) I did a see-off once on a Tonka at RAF Marham, Amazing old aircraft that still does the job.
i go to RAF Leuchars in Fife for the air show every year and the Tornados always give me the biggest buzz, i remember being there around the time of the gulf war (not the latest one) and they scrambled like 6 or 7 planes at once to head out there, it was fucking unbelieveable (RAF Leuchars is a big Tornado air base for those who care)
I hadn't had my Private Pilots license 3 months back in 1989 when I was walking at Fairbanks Intl when one of these did a touch and go. I watched this Tornado come down, and as he started to climb he hit his Afterburner... Was so insanely loud!
Best part was the controller saying "NO AB NO AB!!" and this cool British voice saying "oh sorry about that." Haha was awesome, still see it in my mind's eye.
I apologize, publicly, for my comments. Honestly, it is no way for an American or a soldier to act. Please forgive me and I wish you peace in this world.
First, the capitalization was meant as a part of the analagous speech that I have just explicated to you; and lastly I indicatively am surrmounting the idea that you are a complete idiot that cannot replicate successful outcomes when dealing with common sense and intellectual thought capabilities. Therefore, your communicable skill are somewhat related to that of blash.
No, but can I call your mom, because I have never enoyed fuckin a ho so much in my life. I've told all my friends; sometimes your hot sister comes to- if you know what mean...
oh my goodness! wow! I'm impressed holy poopie willy g cockless poop scooper! Lol, simple minds are so easily amsused! The F-16, for example, has flown 3 feet off the deck, how now brown cow? lol, check stats before boasting, thanks! Come again :)
Oh I know thats our boys... but thanks anyway... hahaha... Nobody fly's those things like the RAF.... Its almost suicidal... If they were'nt so calm about it all... Dunno if you've ever heard any commentry from missions / exercises... It's almost spine chilling just how, 'matter-of-factish' it all is! lmao!
most people dont realise how much talent that takes... they just watch the video and are like yeh nice, look closely at the house and tree, this guy is good
Well among the best. We also get a lot of visitors from other forces of Nato flying the F series USA made stuff and also the Nato Migs from fromer eastern block. We have unique training grounds here in Northern England. The low fliers are perfectly safe and real treat to see in action.
If you really know your planes....and have the ability to name one at a glance....you would see that this is DEFINITELY a Tornado. So to everyone that said it was a TORNADO...you obviously really know your planes...and to the Harrier crew...go learn some shapes.
that is a tornado - pause the video on 4 seconds and you can see the pointy nose, swept swing wings, sharply angled intakes and very large tail. Harriers have round intakes stubby curved tail and more blunt rounded noses - how exactly can you confuse the 2. I lived next to a tornado base in the UK for 10 years - trust me I know what they a look like and how they sound.
I'm with you on this one "Spongey" - I thought it looked like a Harrier - Nostril says he's an expert aswell, I think he's just discovered that he has not been living in a Tornado.
they didnt have tornados in the falklands, they had harriers from aircraft carriers ect. plus the tornados a bomber aircraft which the harriers could do also as it is so versitile. however they did fly vulcans down there to bomb a town but they didnt stay long i dont think
didnt land vulcans atall just bombed and went as i remember it was a long distance bombing sortie after the war f3 and phantoms were used to defend the isles the frs1 hariers and gr harriers were employed on toss bombing raids which waqs a technique where they clibed to hight released the bombs so they flew in an arched trajectory so the aircraft didnt have to get too close to the target although quite a few puccaras were lost on the ground to the sas raid
quite common for a GR4, there is some footage taken in the gulf of Tornados flying so low the shadow of the aircraft was the same size as the aircraft itself, hight of a camels arse as it was put by the pilots.
Bein' an Aussie, we don't see many Tornado's down our way but one did a display a few years back at our Internation Airshow at Avalon and it started off it's display with a pass like this one... freakin stoopenous!!! What a great machine!!!! :o)

He's definitely behind the barn, not between the tree and the barn.
There's no way anyone could safely make that pass, especially with people on the ground.
