this song peaks alot...open up your MIND let your fantasies unWIND, and close your EYES leave your THOUGHTS...the important thing to remember is not to be like a ball being thrown into the air, as in it gets up then comes right back down...pop those notes and hold them for their worth...first aflat nice second not so much...watch your pitch when you get higher and still keep your musicality don't force the notes...very good emotion in the words...nice job...and i don't say that often...
@TheMusicalman1234 Wow, thank you so much, probably the first person to critique me! I definitely feel like everything you have said is true. I honestly didn't practice this song much when I recorded this, and this song definitely warrants a lot more practice then what I put into it, but thank you, I will keep your advice at heart next time I attempt!

Could you please show me the tip of how you can do the high notes of this song? That would make my day cuz I really wanna do this song for my singing contest! Bless
@haivinh219 well im no musical instructor, but from what i've learned so far, is that if you warm up properly and make sure to open your mouth along with the words, it should come across a lot smoother. It mainly takes practice, scales every day is a great way to warm up those higher notes.
@haivinh219 do you mean the first time when he does it falsetto or the second time when he does it full voice? and what voice are you? cos if youre not a tenor it could just be too high
i love it. very crawford feeling to it. would u check mine out? i havent been singing very long and the phantom is my dream role. but im a bass and baritone
Wow. Very nice, I'm actually always amazed when anyone can hit all the notes right in this song, much less do it with the level of emotion you put into it! It truly does remind me of Michael Crawford. I could see you on stage more than some of the people who are, just because of the real feeling and passion you obviously have and others get from listening!
*--* oh lord! I just fall in love! -haha The Phanton was my first musical/opera...(the old version) since than i listen to all cover I can... and you're now my favorite whit David Cook... ^.~ congrats... you're have a amaizing voice!
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me. And that has to be my second favorite part of the song, the final lines of the song are actually my favorite :)
please....marry me now <3 lol i cried my eyes out listening. ;____; This cover was amazingly done. This song was my favorite for the longest time...just because of the sheer emotion the phantom/Michael crawford put into the part. My heart always went to the Phantoms character. <3 and you totally did it justice. Amazing job :)
aw you definitley made my night with your lovely comment! It honestly shocks me when I get compared to Michael crawford, I always think that his portrayal is untouchable, maybe close, but never. And to be even held closely to his standard fills me with so much joy, so thanks you!
One thing I learned listening/watching to a bunch of YouTube videos is that a singer can hit every note perfectly and belt all they want but without the emotion, it just becomes very mediocre for me. You, my friend, are so gifted in conveying the emotion of a song (in addition to hitting every note perfectly). I love the raw emotion in your rendition and actually love the fact that it isn't "over processed" and taken in only a couple takes. Very powerful. You sound absolutely amazing!
This seriously gave me chills. *__* For real...I mean, this song always seems to give me chills..but your version is soft and gentle in a way that the original isn't..like you poured your heart into it. (Sounds cliche..I know..but it's true!) Three takes...or twenty takes..you'll never get the song "perfect" until you (and your listeners) really feel the emotions of the song, and you did just that. :) Really fantastic job Dakota..I love listening to your Phantom of the Opera covers. :)
Oh my ... what a BEAUTIFUL cover! <3 I seriously can listen to your amazing voice all day. *3* <3 You put so much emotion into this song that it's hard not to love this. Gosh you are just amazingly talented! I love your calm voice, it's so easy to listen too. The high notes were just perfect, I'm so impressed! *_* You should be VERYY proud of this! =D I'm so glad that you have a deep connection with the character, it just makes this cover even more fantastic! ^^ Superb job! =D
Wow thank you so much. You know if you told this to me a year ago I would have laughed and thought you were just trying to make me feel better about my horrible singing, but I know now that without a doubt you truly believe that. And it means the world to me, its why I keep going as I do. so thank you so so much.
I know Andrew Lloyd Webber and Michael Crawford would be proud to hear you sing this, and I’m really not just saying that. You really have the capability to pull in your listener and make them feel something, and that is ALWAYS something I look for in music. I don’t know what else to say, but you really did this song justice (and I really, really love this song)...Yeah. Just amazing.
holy cow comments! haha, awwwwwwwwwwww you always have the nicest things to say, I really felt bad about posting this because I didn't put much effort into it, as in I didn't practice it like 20 billion times. I just went with it. I have a really deep connection with this character and I feel that I can never truly capture it with just a mic I dont know..I do plan on redoing this and making it as flawless as possible. But it makes me happy knowing you think its amazing!
You did that perfectly. Seriously, at all the right moments I felt my heart beat a little bit faster (I really don’t care how silly that sounds...everyone who feels a connection to music knows that feeling) and just that intense floating kind of feeling where you’ve completely drifted away from real life and are just completely captured by the song. You are incredibly, incredibly talented. You should be so proud of this. [continued...again...]
Dakota, I can't even put into words how amazing this is...seriously, I completely lost myself in it. I really am not one of those "close your eyes and listen" people but I knew that if you specifically asked us to, there was a reason for that...and indeed there was. This is one of the most incredible songs of all time, and I know that you know as a huge fan of this song, there are just so many parts of it that give you that euphoric, uplifting, out of this world feeling. [continued]....
When I closed my eyes, I could picture myself in the audience in the West End watching Phantom of the Opera!
Bravo!
