  • you used just thread, or was that part of the hair you simple sewed back into the hair ?

  • @giggles771984 that was regular thread.

  • does that come out in time? or u good 2 go from there with your dreads?

  • @aa36105 it's permanent.

  • @aa36105 how do this service cost?

  • @b82439 im not sure u will have 2 ask themukisa11. u thinking about getting locs?

  • @LadyShyye thanks!

  • That's beautiful! How much do you charge for this process, and are you in the NY area?

    Thanks,

    Jessica

  • I have a question. Do you use any type of hair products such as gel or wax to interlock or re-twist the hair after it's sewn in? If so what kind?

  • this is a really good tutorial. i would choose this by attaching my old locs instead of getting loc extensions. i never thought this was possible until i saw this video. good job!

  • @PrettiBoiShai you thinking about it ^.^ ? ive attached someone else's dreads to mines (which were about a year old) and people who never knew me will never know lol

  • @skootb2 oh ok lol and nah i was intrigued about this. ive seen so many people who have had locs before that want locs again so they get extensions. i wonder why they never resulted in getting something like this. it would be like continuing a loc journey lol.

  • @PrettiBoiShai thanks:)

  • wow. you are really good!

  • @abbeymore1 thank you!

  • This is so creative! I love it!

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing.

  • I like this idea, but how do you color your hair later, if there's thread in it. Have you tried this successfully?

  • @businesswoman207 that is a very good question. no I haven't tried dying the hair with the thread.

  • nice job...imma get mine reattatched

  • love the vid and decided to do it myself, my hair was only 1 1/2 inches long now i have locks 1 1/2 feet long, i followed your directions except i used hair glue on near my roots and on my actually hair and wrapped synthetic hair around it, should i use the sewing method when i have new growth because i would like for these to be permanent

  • @themukisa11 when will the new growth began to lock onto the re attached dreads? Have u talked to ur friend for an update? Like did she wash wks or days after? I re attached mines without the thread and needed to knw how long I have b4 they actually lock..thankz a mil

  • Excellent work! You are very helpful by sharing the details of your loc re-attachment process. Your video ranks amongst the best for teaching & demonstrating. Sister, thanks for being so positive and beautiful.

  • I figured out how to do it without da thread..if u wanna knw jus holla..great job by da way n I learned it by watching u regularly..peace

  • @jahnardluv1 would you mind showing the method you used for your dreadlock reattachment? i'm curious to know how to reattach the dreads w/o needle and thread. thanks in advance.

  • Girl,,,you are VERY GOOD!!!!! Where do you live so I can come see you about my hair?

  • ok, i have to say i am shocked! i had no idea at all that this was done, even possible lol! i never heard of reattaching old locs. you did a fantastic job, this is really amazing to me.

  • girl your skin color is so beautiful

  • She looks relieved. I can't imagine cutting mine off, I am just not trying to think about it LOL! I can tell she feels so much better with her locks back. Good job!

  • great idea!! Thanks for sharing that with us at least now I can continue some repairs!!!

  • @evealexsis you're welcome:)

  • Was searching Youtube and saw your page and thought to say hi.

  • Thank you so much for this video!!!! i am definitely attaching me pre made locs!!!!!

  • I think ur hair is gorgeous. I hope mine come out this great!!! Don't mind the haters either. You're beautiful and if you didn't have haters, then u must not be talented or have anything to be jealous of. Point proven :)

  • This was such a cool and informative video! I was curious to know how reattaching dreads were possible because I had a friend that did so...this video eloquently explained the reattaching process, thanks!

  • Wow...cool idea

  • the reason why i was asking is because mine keep falling out. There are about 7-10 that keep coming out. Im thinking that by braiding the loc to the hair is much more secure, and then you reinforce the hair by sewing the loc on. The problem is, is that my nutral hair is on 2.5 inches.I truly believe that your technique is the best.

  • how were u able to take your friends loc and braid it on to her existing hair. I have my old locks, I cannot comb through either side of a lock to get to the point where it can be braided on. 2ndly, how long should i let my hair grow before trying your technique? 4-5 inches?

  • @kjthebarber i'm not sure how she loosened the ends but when i took down my locs i used a curved sewing needle on dry hair, and began picking from the bottom after clipping the end of each lock. i don't know of a particular length of hair that would be ideal. You just need to be able to grab the hair for braiding; if you can do that, you can do this technique. The less hair you have, the less hair you have to deal with when sewing the locs down.

  • This looks amazing! You did an awesome job. Thanks for sharing!!

  • @LocLoverJD thank you for watching:)

  • OMG youare amazing and I thank you for showing us this. We need to see it

  • how long does your hair have to be to reattach them

  • @reddbyrd2 thank you so much!! i know the feeling... i searched for months and finally got tired of it. since i'm a DIY kind of gal, I decided to try a combo of techniques and see how they work out. not too shabby, huh? j/k:)

    thanks:)

  • You did a wonderful job.you are a talented young lady,such a sweet personality.god bless.

  • @Desery168 thank you!!

  • I wish you lived in Chicago!!

  • @kjthebarber :)

  • a few quick questions, Is there a special way that I need to cut and/or store my locks if I'd like to re-attach them later? Do I need to have them organized a certain way? Also, do I need to re-twist before I cut them, or does that even matter? Thanks in advance.

  • @GrindStreetMusic I don't think they need to be cut in a certain way. my friend basically chopped her locks off, not thinking she would ever be able to re-attach them. she had them sitting in a drawer for over 1 yr before we used them. if you plan to do this in the future, you should separate the locs by section (ex: front, back etc) so you know where to attach them, if you want the same look. also, i had my friend soak the locs in apple cider vinegar to kind of disinfect, and freshen up a bit.

  • @GrindStreetMusic to attach you will need one end of the loc to be picked out. I suggest you organize the locs in the same way so you know the ends from the roots. After you figure that out, pick out the root portion. the length is really up to you. my friend combed about 1 inch on each loc. you just need enough hair to braid or interlock the extension to your newgrowth. the shorter the attachment, the less amount of hair you have to sew down. I hope this helps. good luck:)

  • Thank you for this tutorial! You are so beautiful and so sweet! I will be cutting my locks soon, but I want to re-attach them later. I learned alot from watching this vid...

  • @GrindStreetMusic thanks! that really means a lot to me:)

  • This was fascinating to watch, and the end result was beautiful. GOD BLESS YOU for sharing!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing. For some reason, not a lot of "us" like to show the method. I am thinking about trying this and this really really helps!

  • @diamondfilledrock you're most welcome:)

  • Has she kept her locs? How is her hair looking?

  • @BeautywithinSherry her locks are looking great!! she styles them all the time... something she never did in the past.

  • if I attach my old dreadlocks to a afro do my hair automatically lock or do they lock by retwisting

  • @stumpjeremy06 well... your hair can loc naturally w/o manipulating the roots, it just takes time. if you choose to, you can retwist the newgrowth. this method of dreadlock extensions gives you instant length but the newly locked afro portion will not be locked, initially. your locs still have to go through the regular process to mature but they will look mature. I hope that helps. thanks for watching:)

  • dammn those look real gud completely natural doin yah thang ma..

  • @seanjr19 thanks!

  • Sweetie thank you soo soo much very helpful

  • @xant4141 you are most welcome!!

  • Fantastic!! I heard of this being done and never believed it. Youre right they do look really natural and the best thing is its her own hair. Great job.

  • @DollyMat thank you!

  • @themukisa11 Please do an update vid, would love to see the progress 6 mths on. I'm having a love hate relationship with my locs right now and thought about cutting them but this is certainly another alternative as i know i'll miss them.

  • @DollyMat I am currently in the US so I won't be able to do a video of her update (she is still in Dominica), but I can ask her to send me some pictures and I will make a slide show from that.

  • Awesome job! I just spent the weekend reattaching my old locs to my new ones...Your technique is great! How long did it take you to complete all 90?

  • @maskelah thats great!!! It took me about 12 hrs. You should do a video response! I would love to see how it turned out!

  • Awesome job! I just spent the weekend reattaching my old locs to my new ones...Your technique is great!

  • Wow I wish I woulda seen dis before spendin tons of money at a NY salon..my hair was just thrown together..do u have a salon

  • @rubbabandbetty no, I don't have a salon; but this is a technique that you can do on your own hair.

  • How much do people usually charge to get this done?

  • @jovanoshd too much money! i don't even know for sure.

  • @themukisa11 how much would you charge?

  • Where did you get the locs from can I buy them already loced

  • @luckyazzni those are her locs that she cut off. i think the youtuber naturalhairz makes dreadlocks extensions for order.

  • Well done..!

  • Shoot, I guess I didn't form my question correctly. I wanted to know if it was possible to interlock hair that's not yet loc'd! However, I tried it last night and figured it out after watching you reattach your friend's locs! Sooooo excited that there may be a solution. I really don't want to have to do the "big chop". My locs are 6+ yrs old but i've lost quite a few and need to replace them!

  • Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!! I've been saving some locs I had trimmed a couple years ago and i've been dying to reattach them to areas where some locs had thinned and fallen off. You are a real life/loc saver!!! Now, could you tell me (or show me) how you interlocked loose hair?

  • @mamajazzygirl thanks!! for the interlocking I have two videos. 1 is from my first month retightening and the other is from my 9th month DIY nappy loc tool/retightening. there are also many videos on youtube showing this technique.

  • u r intelligent! I sincerely miss ur videos!

  • @joanolisa1 bambi:) thanks:)

  • @karmbaby thanks! that is an honor coming from a Cosmetologist such as yourself :)

  • @themukisa11 thanks =>

  • Great job!! What a way to save!! =)

  • @AeFemme thanks:)

  • This is SO amazing, had no idea you could do this! I'm surprised she actually held on to her hair that long...and that it didn't dry rot or something....

  • @cocoakeke I had no idea either until about 3 months ago. so now, in the future if I decide to cut mine off I can always reattach once I've gotten the "loose hair feel" out of my system:)

she soaked her dreads in ACV and used lots of conditioner and water, so if anything was there it was rinsed out prior to me using them.

  • I love ur videos sweetie, but the volume is waaaaay low!
