Remember that doing this is for your own intrests not your father's, mother's or anyone elses reasons. do it cause you want to do it. Don't let merit badges run your life you can't earn them all so don't even try (even though there was a kid that did but that is another story) and learn as much as you can

If that's translated as anyone who opposes any group for any reason (?), then I'm a bigot... against those who advocate for sex between men and young boys, or goats, or being able to marry a cow.... Sure, sounds silly. But based upon an open standard, where do you draw the line? Seriously?! Christianity and Christ had no contempt for those with an orientation; God did create sex between a man and woman in marriage. This is cornerstone of a healthy society. Don't agree, don't join.

Don't confuse conformity for ethics. The boy scouts have their own organization. So what. All you need is a logo and a bank account. Your "don't join if you don't like it" mantra is a bit short sighted. You absolutely are supporting ignorance and bigotry when you reject members based on sexual orientation OR lifestyle. By the way... they're the same thing. I feel sorry for the closeted gay boys in your club. There's nothing like a systematic erosion of one's self worth at summer camp!

I always love that argument! That book you're using as your basis for your ignorant and narrow point of view is the ultimate symbol of oppression. It took the Catholic church about 700 years to apologize for the Crusades. Following that schedule, it will be nearly another millennium before we hear sorry for slavery, a hundred years more before assimilation of the Labrador nomads was wrong, and sometime around year 3000, the boy scouts will accept homosexuals as equals. @CommentClown Don't know what "book" you're talking about. I've pressed you with a simple question: "Where do you drawn the line?" You can't answer-- it would reveal you to be committing the same "error" you accuse others of. Which demonstrates that we all have value systems. Excluding someone from participation in something, based upon a value system, is the right of a particular organization. I'm not offended that gay-exclusive organizations exclude me. Don't like it, start your own.

I need to hit this one again. If you think that homosexuality is a gateway to rape, pedophilia and bestiality, then you were either raised in box, or dropped on your head. I pray that you don't have any sort of a leadership role with the boy scouts. Do you know that Hitler's ideals were not too far from yours. I checked out the BSA site this morning and I see tremendous focus on prevention of sexual abuse. Then, on CNN, I'm reading that the organization has rejected a homosexual leader. So... are gay men child molesters by definition?

When I hear "believe" and "I can do it" in your video, I have to wonder what you'd say to Rosa Parks?

So, as far as I can tell, BSA is for everybody... if you're a straight, white christian.

@CommentClown From a Christian perspective, proclaiming one's sexual orientation is irrelevant... however, proclaiming one's sexual lifestyle is a different story... whether it be homosexual or heterosexual outside of sacramental marriage. Clearly, an organization has the right to specify the basis of it's values (in this case, Christian), and others have the right to either accept or reject those values by belonging, or not.

The rights of the organization are a fine line. Can I start a Boy Scout club that rejects Christians based on their "lifestyle"?

I don't have a problem with Christianity, homosexuality or any other belief. I have a problem with yet another generation of kids being groomed as bigots by role model clubs like the Boy Scouts of America

No, Gay men are not child molesters by definition, however, men that molest boys are homosexuals by definition. Scouting does place an emphesis on Religion not just Christianity. Indonesia has the largest Boy Scout Organization.

@CommentClown ....and another thing, as far as blacks in Scouting goes, it's their decision to be a Scout or not. I am affiliated with a troop of about 25 boys. We are in a predominately white area of town and have 5 black scouts. Since blacks are roughly 12% of U.S. population, that number seems representative. IMHO, blacks join and then drop out when they see that it's not all fun-n-games. It takes dicipline and work! Scouting does not pander to race. You are defined by rank, not skin color,

ure wrong, not once in my years of being a scout, have they brought up being gay, or tought about it. that is not what boy scouts is about, they have been the best years of my life. and about being white, not true at all. and being christian, i was just at a scout camp and they had jewish services, and jews arent christians. pleast know what your talking about before u accuse

"Change the World!" yeah, CONVERT the WORLD to THEISM. No, wait, CHRISTIANITY. The BSA is pretty much a new and less violent version of the Inquisition, in that it discriminates against non-christians. I am a Scout myself, and I have seen this firsthand.

I went on a CATHOLIC retreat, and since I'm not catholic, I had to eat out in the rain while the catholics ate in a nice mess hall.

Don't get me wrong, the overrall reason for scouting is GREAT, but the way the BSA conducts itself is WRONG

Hello, I know how you feel. The organization is not perfect, and needs to make some changes, but You can start your own Boy Scout troop for individuals that do not subcribe to christianity and you will get support. But have to want scouting or want something positive or you will always stand alone and find the fault rather than the potential. I founded the Minority Boy Scouts Association, because I was like you. Make a positive difference.
