@ASBOMAN yeah I don't understand it either, there's no lyrics nothing controversial about this, I guess the only reason is maybe they just don't like the sound of guitars bass and drums. hearing 60s tunes like this always makes me a wee bit happier
sounds too smooth to be a live recording. are they lip syncing? er, without lips... i usually don't bag on dislikers, but really? how can anybody dislike something like this? pop essence of guitar simplicity right here folks...
man, I tell ya. Even after the greatness of the Beatles, Frank Zappa,Jimi Hendrix, the Jefferson Airplane ,Crosby ,Stills Nash and Young and Sublime among others favorites of mine ,the Ventures still stir the blood.
Wow awesome...I'm 44 now and this song allway's made me happy..gives me a happy feeling and it still does...whenwas this recorded?Does anyone know please?
I love how the bassist and the rhythm guitar guys are totally getting in to the song and bouncing about, but the lead guitar dude is just too cool to move cause he knows he's awesome

It's just such a pleasure to listen to the Ventures the way they handle every song in their unique way it's awesome.. I've listened to them since 1964 when I was 10 years old, I own most of their records and now CDs...Its just too bad that Bob And Mel are gone.. We miss them..
@tikitortured If you like surf music, then you will love this clip presently used in the Heineken Ad (The Date). The sound is like that of The Ventures with vocals plus horns composed around the same time frame (1965). watch?v=XnBbjc5hmho
btw-this is a unique video in that, usually if not always, with this line and during this particular song bob bogle always played the lead. He was the original lead guitar player that recorded the classic version. However, Nokie takes the lead. Very cool. Always loved bogle playing Walk don't run and perfidia, however.
don wilson had/has the greatest right arm in rock. Not really a lead player at all but a great rhythm guy. I wish I could find a guy like him to start a band with.
@seaside882000 there isn't anyone around who now who can hold a candle to the Ventures....Don Wilson is brilliant....and so is Nokie......Mel and Bob....RIP to both of you.....being able to watch them on youtube is the greatest gift for someone who enjoys R&R....
i grew listening to this have the vinyl...and was LUCKY enough to see them live in a small upstate bar in new york...awesome i'll never forget it oh course that was 20 years ago
This band as matured ,I'm a Shadows but hey this good music and great playing great sound much better then the old band .Come play in the ~UK please I'll be there.
Leroy: "Mick, this is serious shit you're talking about! DEA, international drug rings, this is all hazardous to your health!" Mick: "Yeah but, well think of what it'll do to your reputation." Leroy: "Oh yeah, yeah...Leroy Brown...the baddest man in the whole damn cemetery!!"
A huge part of The Venture's magic was not just the great tunes and catchy riffs, it was also that their stripped-down, minimally produced sound allowed the great natural textures of the instruments and amps to tell the story. So much music is over-produced into a sickening glaze that the natural sonic nuances and individual textures of the instruments are virtually lost. LESS is MORE, when it comes to recording and producing good music!
