And no, Macs do not play games just as well. That's worse than saying consoles are just as good as a PC... Not even close. Macs don't even support a fraction of modern titles let alone have the hardware to run them at max.

1. steam/onlive
2. wine
3. dual booting into windows with bootcamp

1. Yes Steam is now available for OSX, but most AAA titles still aren't available on Steam for OSX.
2. Booting into Windows defeats your argument that OSX is just as good at games. Clearly it is not if you have to boot into Windows to play your games.
3. Lastly, I am fully aware what you can and cannot do on a Mac. My PCs can do more, for less. And they look better too :-)

It took me ages, while when I switched to mac i had it up and running in no time! It's not about wich OS has the best and most software, it's about ease of use and reliability.

Why everybody thinks PC is Windows/Microsoft? Windows is just OS, PC means Personal Computer, that you can customize with what ever components you need and put any OS you want. Mac is premade computer with its own OS.
@tomislavlac To add to that, Macs are now just PCs, with a PC UNIX OS that they have customized with their own UI. So basically all consumer computers are PCs now. Macs in the pure sense, do not exist anymore. They are just another brand of PCs like Dell or Lenovo. They are even manufactured in the same slave camps in China that everyone else uses.

Macs (I´m writing this on one) have the best quality audio, video and photography editing, and Microsoft PC´s have a low price, most games on it and a lot of software. Macs can´t run Windows games, somewhat slow if running for long and RAM-usingly. PC´s crash more, stop responding at some point and get slow if used a lot. There!

@therealdandan You can install OSX on a PC too... Unfortunately you don't get the best of both worlds with a Mac; they are almost always behind on hardware. Old graphics cards, old processors, no Bluray, Sata III, USB 3, eSata, Bluetooth 3, etc.
You get a nice looking computer that is... outdated and overpriced. So if your "best of both worlds" excludes hardware/price and is only referring to operating systems and software, then yes, you get both with a Mac. But you can do the same with a PC.

"Intel Core i7-2720QM @ 2.20GHz" is NOT outdated (and that comes in lower versions of the Macbook Pro model). Go to passmark.com and search the processor
There is a difference between stealing software and breaking a vague unenforceable license agreement. Apple can write whatever they want in their license agreement, but until it is challenged in court and becomes case law, that part of the agreement is meaningless and installing OSX on a PC is legal. Provided you actually buy the software and don't pirate it. Since jailbreaking iPhones was deemed 100% legal by the courts, I seriously doubt installing OSX on a PC will ever be an issue either.
@TheOnlyKingArthur If you buy OSX, you are under Apple's license agreement. If you torrent it, it's illegal. So any way you look at it, it's wrong. AND you can only obtain their new operating system legally if you own a Mac, on the App Store.

You are under the license agreement when you install OSX, but it is a license agreement, not a law. Apple could have a clause in the agreement that says you have to jump up and down and spin in a circle before installing the software. If you don't do this, is it illegal? To be illegal, Apple would need to challenge a perpetrator and win, creating case law for that provision. Since that hasn't happened, installing to a PC is LEGAL. Period. Pirating software is illegal, installing on a PC is not.

You can make whatever excuses you want about why Bluray and other technologies fail to exist on the Mac, but the fact remains; PC hardware is ahead and superior to Macs in almost every technology standard. Currently Thunderbolt is the only technology that Macs have which PCs do not. But you can't even get it on a Mac Pro yet?!? Which is the user base most likely to use it! However their are many technologies and standards which Macs are either outdated or simply lack entirely.

On a Mac, to get softwares, you don't use CDs. Hence why Bluray is obsolete.
Yes it is outdated. The 2nd generation i7 processors have been out for months. No Macs have them yet. Nor do they have the fastest i7 Extremes, mobile or desktop, or the 8 core workstation Xeons.

Yes Thunderbolt outmatches CONSUMER I/O options. It is for professionals, and overkill for consumers. What consumer is going to buy a $1,500+ RAID array for their $1,200 Macbook so they can actually utilize the Thunderbolt port? Thunderbolt is in a category with Fibre Channel and SAS RAID (which it is barely faster than if at all) not USB and SATA. And there are like a total of 3 Thunderbolt products on the market. Wow.

The procesor in this Macbook Pro is ranked 31st according to Passmark's benchmarks.th graphics card is also nowhere near outdated and is quite powerful as well. eSata, Sata III, etc., are not needed because no one uses eSata for iPods. They're used for harddrive transfers. And Thunderbolt significantly outperforms them in that respect. It is also now known that Thunderbolt can transfer video and audio, I have also justified that there is simply no need for BluRay discs. Dolby True Hd is on mac.

@guston82 You can read Apple ProRes on Windows. Just can't write to it. But there's no need. Most editors don't need to transcode footage anymore, except Final Cut, which barely supports any formats natively. Hence the need for ProRes. There is nothing like that on PC because it is not needed. But if I do need to transcode footage for my Mac friends, I would use Neo's CineForm, which is slightly better than ProRes, and cross-platform.
@TheOnlyKingArthur Look you've got the point! I don't agree with the DNx (quiet heavy) and I didn't know the Neo"s Cineform (I do now!). The editors still need to transcode or exports (because they can received a lot of different formats for 1 same project) and then, have to export their file when the edit is finished. Also if you work with EOS (wich is H264) you'll need to transcode the rushes for a better editing. So, you told me Neo's CineForm equals Pro Res, I'll test it and see...
@guston82 I agree, if you are working with a large project and/or multiple editors, using a single format is the best way to go. However, editing AVCHD in Premiere works fine without transcoding. While Cineform may be a little better quality than ProRes, it's not much and it does cost extra for every seat, where ProRes is free (for Final Cut Mac users anyway). But since my workflows include PCs, ProRes is not an option. It would be nice if Apple released their codec outside of Final Cut...
@MegaJAYBEE93 You'd have trouble utilizing 6 cores in todays world bud. A 60 core could be done I suppose but theres a reason why no one has done it.

You're full of shit. FCP is largley a piece of shit. And the platform you use can make a huge difference. HUGE. When I used macs for my work, the successive crashes almost put me out of a job. Finally, I took everything off of the mac, put it on my seven year old PC and got it all done just in time. The Mac, may it rest in peace, was disassembled by my car tires and then shipped to apple with a note, that it had actually crashed.

and that popular game titles like COD are Coded and programed in OSX and 85% of hollywood films are produced in finalcut pro (mac only app)

Why everybody thinks PC is Windows/Microsoft? Windows is just OS, PC means Personal Computer, that you can customize with what ever components you need and put any OS you want. Mac is premade computer with its own OS.

Macs (I´m writing this on one) have the best quality audio, video and photography editing, and Microsoft PC´s have a low price, most games on it and a lot of software. Macs can´t run Windows games, somewhat slow if running for long and RAM-usingly. PC´s crash more, stop responding at some point and get slow if used a lot. There!

@therealdandan You can install OSX on a PC too... Unfortunately you don't get the best of both worlds with a Mac; they are almost always behind on hardware. Old graphics cards, old processors, no Bluray, Sata III, USB 3, eSata, Bluetooth 3, etc.
You get a nice looking computer that is... outdated and overpriced. So if your "best of both worlds" excludes hardware/price and is only referring to operating systems and software, then yes, you get both with a Mac. But you can do the same with a PC.

"Intel Core i7-2720QM @ 2.20GHz" is NOT outdated (and that comes in lower versions of the Macbook Pro model). Go to passmark.com and search the processor

There is a difference between stealing software and breaking a vague unenforceable license agreement. Apple can write whatever they want in their license agreement, but until it is challenged in court and becomes case law, that part of the agreement is meaningless and installing OSX on a PC is legal. Provided you actually buy the software and don't pirate it. Since jailbreaking iPhones was deemed 100% legal by the courts, I seriously doubt installing OSX on a PC will ever be an issue either.

You are under the license agreement when you install OSX, but it is a license agreement, not a law. Apple could have a clause in the agreement that says you have to jump up and down and spin in a circle before installing the software. If you don't do this, is it illegal? To be illegal, Apple would need to challenge a perpetrator and win, creating case law for that provision. Since that hasn't happened, installing to a PC is LEGAL. Period. Pirating software is illegal, installing on a PC is not.

You can make whatever excuses you want about why Bluray and other technologies fail to exist on the Mac, but the fact remains; PC hardware is ahead and superior to Macs in almost every technology standard. Currently Thunderbolt is the only technology that Macs have which PCs do not. But you can't even get it on a Mac Pro yet?!? Which is the user base most likely to use it! However their are many technologies and standards which Macs are either outdated or simply lack entirely.

Thunderport's 10 GBps clearly outmatches eSata, eSata III, AND USB 3.0. Now, Bluetooth 3.0 is pointless for Mac because all you need it for is for connecting a mouse, keyboard, and for controlling your mac with an iphone.

Yes Thunderbolt outmatches CONSUMER I/O options. It is for professionals, and overkill for consumers. What consumer is going to buy a $1,500+ RAID array for their $1,200 Macbook so they can actually utilize the Thunderbolt port? Thunderbolt is in a category with Fibre Channel and SAS RAID (which it is barely faster than if at all) not USB and SATA. And there are like a total of 3 Thunderbolt products on the market. Wow.
No Macs support HD Audio. The 5870 was released in 2009 for PCs. Nuff said.

The procesor in this Macbook Pro is ranked 31st according to Passmark's benchmarks.th graphics card is also nowhere near outdated and is quite powerful as well. eSata, Sata III, etc., are not needed because no one uses eSata for iPods. They're used for harddrive transfers. And Thunderbolt significantly outperforms them in that respect. It is also now known that Thunderbolt can transfer video and audio, I have also justified that there is simply no need for BluRay discs. Dolby True Hd is on mac.

@guston82 You can read Apple ProRes on Windows. Just can't write to it. But there's no need. Most editors don't need to transcode footage anymore, except Final Cut, which barely supports any formats natively. Hence the need for ProRes. There is nothing like that on PC because it is not needed. But if I do need to transcode footage for my Mac friends, I would use Neo's CineForm, which is slightly better than ProRes, and cross-platform.

@TheOnlyKingArthur Look you've got the point! I don't agree with the DNx (quiet heavy) and I didn't know the Neo"s Cineform (I do now!). The editors still need to transcode or exports (because they can received a lot of different formats for 1 same project) and then, have to export their file when the edit is finished. Also if you work with EOS (wich is H264) you'll need to transcode the rushes for a better editing. So, you told me Neo's CineForm equals Pro Res, I'll test it and see...

@guston82 I agree, if you are working with a large project and/or multiple editors, using a single format is the best way to go. However, editing AVCHD in Premiere works fine without transcoding. While Cineform may be a little better quality than ProRes, it's not much and it does cost extra for every seat, where ProRes is free (for Final Cut Mac users anyway). But since my workflows include PCs, ProRes is not an option. It would be nice if Apple released their codec outside of Final Cut...

@MegaJAYBEE93 First of all, no one believes for one second that two 17 year olds have three $10k Mac pros between the both of them. Nice try. Secondly, OSX is not going to support ANY hardware you 'hotwire' onto your motherboard, you'd have to load Windows to get it to work. And last but not least, I can buy a BOXX PC with 240 cores or more, once again shattering your pitiful Mac solution. Suck on that.

Go PC! Hahaha! I always have been a PC user and always prefer it but I don't have anything against Apple since I use iTune and Quicktime on Windows. I already got something better than the iPhone which is a Samsung Moment Android Phone.

@MegaJAYBEE93 Wow! A Mac Pro is 12 times more powerful than a dildo? That's an impressive feat! Just remember douchebag that Macs will always be behind in hardware capability. You are all impressed that a Mac Pro can run dual 6 core procs for a whopping total of 12 cores... Meanwhile PCs can run quad 8 core procs for a total of 32 cores, almost three times the power of your pitiful Mac. Go back to school and learn some basics like grammar and spelling before you try to debate with me, kid.

Sure, macs are "simple". Sure, they have some good stuff on them. But they are so insanely over priced, viruses DO exist for macs, and PC is MUCH better at playing games. So, if you're the kind of person who prefers overpriced "simple" computers over well balanced, decently priced ones, enjoy your lack of money and decent video games.

You're full of shit. FCP is largley a piece of shit. And the platform you use can make a huge difference. HUGE. When I used macs for my work, the successive crashes almost put me out of a job. Finally, I took everything off of the mac, put it on my seven year old PC and got it all done just in time. The Mac, may it rest in peace, was disassembled by my car tires and then shipped to apple with a note, that it had actually crashed.
