  • I used to see these up near NY as a kid in NE Pennsylvania. Did you find this in Sept, or earlier. What county is this in? Don't want specifics, just curious generally what area of PA. I am trying to find one simply to get a photo, nothing more.

  • in Maine they are on the decline sadly taken for pet trade. I had one as a kid for 3 weeks then set him free where I found him. He was so friendly and ate out of your hand. If you do want a turtle only use sellers that can say the turtle was domestic raised and not stolen from its home. In Maine box turtles and spotted turtles are no longer living here. The Blandings and wood turtles will be the next to stop living in Maine.

  • @turtle2087 That’s really disheartening news. I agree 100% with what you stated about purchasing only domestic! Unfortunately people want what they want as cheap as they can get it so the illegal market for wild caught animals is always there! I’ve never seen a Blanding’s turtle in its natural habitat…that would be a real treat!
