wow this bring back memories. I remember listening to ppv's back in the day on cable with the tv scrambled up cause we couldnt afford to get the ppv's lol.
They had the talent that was IMO alot better than WWF during the time but it was because of ignorance behind the scenes who knew shit about how to run the company which led to their ultimate demise. Although it built alot of steam with the NWO later on, they still died do to greedy pricks who took the millions the wrestlers were making and once they did, they didn't want anything to do with it. It didn't help giving full creative control to Russo and Ferrara. TNA is headed a similar path.
@amongstdemons TNA's also shooting themselves in the foot by ruining their surprises they try to do. Bischoff's trainer? Yeah announcing Hogan's return then having hogan show up as his trainer..Totally ruined any suspense and excitement they had in that situation. TNa's got the wrestling, but that's about it
I wish Rick had lived to do shoot interviews... I'm sure he'd have some interesting stories to tell! Absolute legend. Although he played the ultimate heel in the ring, all the other wrestlers only ever had good things to say about what he was like behind the scenes.
You learn something new every day. I knew Ravishing Rick Rude won the WCW title (although when I found that out, I was shocked because I didn't watch WCW back then). But, I didn't know he beat Flair for the belt.
It was a world title, but it wasn't the WCW Title. It was the "WCW International" World Title, as WCW actually had two world titles at the same time for a while after leaving the NWA in 1993.
Damn WCW had momentum: Vader, Cactus Jack, Rick Rude, Ric Flair, Ventura on announcing.. the fuck they needed Hogan for? Macho, yes, but Hogan just gobbled up title reigns and airtime
@misterl0gic Had momentum. LMAO...they languished even with the WWF not being very good overall. Hogan took them to another level. Gave them something they really had never had: mainstream credibility. Why are people so adamant about twisting history to fit their biases against Hogan? Hogan may have gobbled up title reigns, but he put asses in the seats while doing it. Meanwhile, Ric Flair was getting into debt, slapped around by 2-3 wives, and generally being NOTHING like his wrestling persona
@SeanMBryans Isn't that what the whole conversation was about to begin with? Back when WCW and Hogan were still relevant? And how Hogan single handily turned WCW into a global phenomenon over night? Hell, look at what Bash at the Beach '94 did for WCW as a whole. And you can't say that Hogan "stinks up the arena". Sting vs Hogan at B4G tore the house down and was easily the match of the night. That entire arena in Philly was marking out that night for those "old, washed up, has-beens".
@kobeisapunkrapist How much money did Hogan draw? And he was garbage? Shows how much you know about PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING, now you, go fuck yourself:)
I know my wrestling and don't remember Rick Rude ever winning the WCW world title especially not from Ric Flair, and is Robert Rude of TNA Rick Rude's son?
@MrStover007 bobby rudes not related to rick and this was around the time wcw left the nwa and they were still using both belts. Sting ends up beating Rude and unifying the belts before loosing it to Vader
@Naim914 not quite right there, dude...Sting lost the title to Rude but then Rude got injured and vacated the belt...Sting beat Vader for the vacant title, before losing it to Flair in a title unification match
wow this bring back memories. I remember listening to ppv's back in the day on cable with the tv scrambled up cause we couldnt afford to get the ppv's lol.
