How to Install Gimp Brushes on Mac

I dont get whats wrong, but I go to drag and drop my downloaded brushes into the brushes folder and it wont let me. My curser turns into the line through the circle "no" symbol.

i dont have folders like that on my Gimp, also mac....

My mac doesn't save it on my desktop- it saves it in my downloads. What do I do to have it saved on my desktop or something??

@terahhicks Have you tried removing all the brushes from the folder, starting Gimp then quitting it and adding the brushes back again?

That folder is created the first time you run the Gimp
