No joke, this looks like it could easily be put into any fighting game, Kiai and all.... I love this technique, although we do it a bit differently the outcome still looks the same. Vade en Pace!

" On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the award of Master Floquet's 1st dan, a festive stage is held in Paris, home of Judo on 8, 9 and 10 May. This is an opportunity to gather all practicing Katori Aikibudo around our master. All information has already been transmitted in the clubs.
They also appear on the official website specially created for this occasion."
Great video guys. Just remember that Aikibudo has the same origins as Yoseikan Aikido, created my Minoru Mochizuki. It is also found in Australia. The name aikido or aikibudo is merely a matter of reorganisation in each respective country. Regardless, they are all a composite budo formed from Mochizuki's experiences of karate, judo, aikido and katori shinto ryu.
The sacrifice throws actually came from Mochzuki's experience in a form of jujutsu called Gyokushin ryu jujutsu taught by Sanjuro Oshima. Unfortunately, he didn't learn everything before the master died. Our martial art is pretty much all that is left of this ryu's speciality. Some sacrifice throws still come from the judo exponent though, like tomoe nage.
Aikibudo is a combat martial art. As indicated by aliensexfiend, Aikibudo is the predessor to Aikido. Aikido is based on the Shinto Japanese religion, peace and harmony. Aikido is non combative and does not advocate self defence. Aikibudo advocates self defence.
Martial arts bearing the moniker "Aikido" can also be combat martial arts. There are many styles out there, some are no more martial than yoga (i.e. Shin shin Toitsu or Ki Society) while some are very formidable self-defense forms (i.e. Yoseikan, Yoshinkan, Nishio-ryu Aikikai). Much of them are reflections of the ideals and backgrounds of the people that Ueshiba has taught.
yo.. this is aikido... i've taken aikido before.. and thing is.. it works well in theory.. but nobody's ever going to let you throw them like that.... :(
I understand where you're coming from. First, this isn't Aikido. We take elements which we think are good from Aikido but we also integrate all of the other Japanese martial arts. We always train to be able to use it in all different environments.
I am trained to be able to do that to people or all sizes, even men over 200 pounds. Trust me when I say my sensei really challenges my abilities to defend against bigger people. I'm merely a girl short of 5 feet so believe me, if the technique is there, it works! Nobody who wants to harm you will come at you slowly, so you use their own power against them --- it's all physics! =) I myself thought the same as you before I started training.
Actually, this is a predessor to Aikido called Aikibudo (or referred as Aikijujitsu). It's a more agressive art in that it involves techniques called Sutemi Waza(Sacrifice Throws). If you would like, I'll get some more videos up as soon as I get my Camcorder USB drivers working.
