  • It is to my understanding that the street models is really light but the GI model is insanely heavy, since you cant get lithiums for GI yet, only if you downgrade motor to 500w, so thats a considiration too... its liked 70 pounds vs 8 pounds ^^

  • @initcrew2009 - Good to know... I've been really wishing I'd gotten a GI instead of my E-Glide AT which I really have ended up disliking compared to my street deck. My street E-glide is rock solid smooth as glass and so light... the tires and power of the GI is appealing but 70 lbs is NOT!

  • @samuroid Yeah i understand completely, i am about to buy a street model, just unsure wich one to buy ^^! Why did you dislike the AT then =)?

  • What happens when you fall

  • @SuperButtcream: To be honest, I've only fallen twice... Both times I ended up in ER at my local hospital - more as a precaution since I wasn't sure if something was broken. The bindings released easily but concrete is concrete and it doesn't give, bend or budge.

  • Perhaps not "worlds" first.

Lots of people have already customized their powerboards with lipo's, perhaps the first on the market, but not worlds...

  • @Zenolijo - Not sure if you really meant a lipo, but this is not a lithium polymer (lipo) often used in RC and airsoft. This is a lithium ion (li-ion) similar to what is found in battery powered bikes and cars, like the Tesla Roadster. Lipo's go boom when you overcharge or pierce them... these are much more stable.

  • bindings dude???

  • @zekioztan : Yep. Sure it's not true skate, but electric skates are hybrids to begin with... all skate, no hate... And you can't imagine the torque and carve you can get with them on... I rode for about a year without, before I mounted them... Now I can crank turns you'd otherwise just eat gravel... It's incredibly smooth... like butter... stirred not shaken...

  • Awesome videos, your board looks like tons of fun. I just have a hard time picturing 30 mph on non-pneumatic tires, I'm sure the bindings would help, but then I'm also wondering if the 800W is enough to get going 30mph and still have any acceleration. I ask because I've ridden the E-glide 600W and that thing claims 20mph but I only ever hit 16 mph on it (and I'm only 140lbs). If you could GPS that or have a friend follow you in a car to get an accurate MPH that would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • @joshpit2003: Hey hey. Thanks for the props! Bindings don't generate power. Neither do tires. A power source does! Lol! Gravity helps too! I can only hit 30mph with my new li-ion pack and going downhill. Just like with cars, if you strip weight, it also makes it faster. Taking off the heavy lead acid battery pack in favor the the li-ions helps ALOT! Longboarders have been hitting 30+mphs for years on non-pneumatics so that's not new. Meh. I'll have to bust out my GPS again... :)

  • @samuroid I was reffering to the road vibration w/ non pneumatic tires and how having bindings would help w/ ride control. yeah, have no fear...I understand they don't add power. lol Anyhow, i'd be curious to know what the max speed on lever ground is, so whenever you get a chance just reply to the comment (even if that 6 months from now). thanks a bunch.

  • song name please? :D

  • Hey Man,

What did you use for bindings on your board?

  • @mikecurve: I thought about using a huge range - from wake, snowboarding, wind surfing and a variety from all-terrain boarding but settled on MBS's mountain board bindings for two reasons - it's got a ratchet for adjustability and it's semi rigid for control - plus I figured I could easily step out because of the rigidness and lack of heel lock. They've been bomber and provide razor's edge carving and control - I can hit a dime going 25-30mph- yet still bail if I'm in trouble. Enjoy the ride!

  • @samuroid. Awesome man, thanks for the info. What do you think about your model versus the GI model they have. Im trying to decide which would be the way to go, but haven't ridden either yet.

  • @mikecurve: All depends on how deep your pockets go and what you want for a riding experience! Whatever you do, first consider getting lithium batteries first and foremost. I've had both and the difference... Well, there is no comparison. The torque, speed and handling - I've never gone back. The street boards are just that. Purely street. They carve up pavement like no other. But on grass do NOTHING. The GI is a hybrid. It does both REALLY well. It's a step well above the AT board in handling.

  • I bought some parts from Dave and he was great to deal with. I look forward to buying a li ion battery pack for my board soon. Im impressed with the torque and life of the new li ions. Cant wait....

  • @leo22732: You know, I've been using my li-ion a bit more lately and noticed two things different from the old lead acid that I didn't initially...

First, since it's so much lighter, there is quite a bit more danger of tipping it over on sharp turns. On the old e-glide, that was next to impossible because of the weight. Not so now!

Second, the backend has some phantom swing and movement to it because that's where all the weight is (motor). It's hardly noticeable but it's there - floaty!

  • These videos are great.....!!! Keep posting.

  • Nice!! Where do you ride at? I ride around OC area. Gotta call Dave and pick lithium battery up soon. LOl

  • @bucrane: I'm in Washington state... Dave is a good guy... reminds me of quality skate, snowboard and surf shops - he's willing to go the extra mile to make sure you got what you need.

I'm lovin' the li-ion's... soooo light...

  • Very impressive. Check my vids out. Ive got a collection of boards. Where did you get the battery ? How many amp hours ? Did it come with the BMS or did you hook it up direct somehow ?

  • @leo22732: E-glide is both the maker of the board as well as the distributor of the new lithium ion batteries (I had heard from the owner, that he teamed up with an electric bike company to custom create the batteries for the skateboards).

As for BMS - I'm guessing you mean Battery Management System, here... it came complete & all I needed to do was plug and play!

  • @leo22732: Since it's a custom battery, I'm not entirely sure about the amp hours - primarily because it's wrapped in black plastic & not marked. In terms of power provided, it depends on your weight & type of riding. 20-25 mile range, lots of uphill torque and 25-30mph flatland speeds - totally silent too. I surprise deer on my trails all the time!
