I live in San Francisco and cringe when ever people refer to the city as "Frisco"...Merle, however, can call it whatever he wants. It still sounds good.
I was fixing a busted Seeburg jukebox in the late 70's when I found this song on an old 45rpm lying on the floor of that phonograph. After I fixed it, this was the first record I played. I've loved this song ever since. By the way, I was doing a repair in a bar in "Frisco." True story.
I heard this driving home from a gig last week. I hadn't heard a good song the entire drive and then this came on as I was pulling up to my house. Loved it in the first 15 seconds.
The first time I ever heard this song (no joke)was in 1975 as a 19 year old Marine making port at Frisco. It's been my favorite Hag song ever since. God bless you Merle..
Thanks For this song , I lived in Frisco when I got out of school. I still love the place, and the bay,and the Golden gate Bridge. Good memories. Berni
