Haha..you got a point. Most Viet songs you hear are about love, sadness, getting drunk, being drunk and sad, drinking coffee by youself, or going to war and having to leave you lover and family behind. Co Don stuff.

But many older songs are about working in the fields, coercing a lazy ox to work, fishing,

cooking, selling your goods at the market, getting drunk or the village where you are from. Que Huong stuff.

i agree with ya, but the song 10 or 20 years back are about how great love is and how painful it is to loose it. But if you pay attention, the recent song are these very tacky songs written as if one person is putting music in his sentences while talking to another person. That's why they're not as timeless as some of the old songs, music might be better, but it doesn't have the meaning, feeling it used to carry.
