I never understood why this incredibly beautiful song has been so neglected. For many of us it was the first thing we heard by Jackson Browne - and gave a fine indication of what was to follow.

Thank you I'm glad that you liked my version. Unfortunately I don't have any scores of this lying around. I would love to do this with my string quartet but I don't think that there is an edition. It would be a great deal of work to write down the scores by listening to the disc.

i'm sure you knwo that the fingerpicking pattern is not exactly what jackson browne is playing (it'd be hard to play what he does and sing at the same time).

honestly, your performance is vocally and instrumentally is very competent, but it lacks the gravitas of nico. it looks like you have classical guitar training. perhaps more of a tortured life of debauchery is what you need to capture this song? : )

I agree that the guitar is not exactly like Browne and the vocals are not exactly like Nico but I still like both their and my version. Should I live my life like Nico just to be able to sing the song like her? I couldn't play any more happy, light songs and this is just not worth it (and by the way I wouldn't want to live my life like Nico). For me, a cover is always a new interpretation of a person with a different character. But of course there is a certain truth in your post.

what are the major chords there? i see D mostly with the descending thing on the A string.. like 3rd fret 2nd fret then open A? is that a regular D shape? what are the other main chords for the verses and possibly the chorus chords.

It would be difficult to write it down exactly but as you are not the first one asking I will give you the basic chords (refer to the video for the bassline, the pulling off and hammering on):

Verse: D, G, A

Chorus: f#, G, h, D, A

You should first learn to play those chords with the song than you can add little by little arpeggio, bassline, pulling off and hammering on. Good luck!

No, as I said before I didn't write down the tabs to this song. But I think that the video is pretty clear so that you can play along and figure it out. You can go without the arpeggio of the right hand and without the pulling off and hammering on to make it simpler.
