im 16, ive been driving diggers in NZ for atleast 10 years. its not that hard but it takes a few years to get good, such as smooth movements, judging distances and not killing yourself - obviously haha.
does anyone that has been through NAHETS know about how much it cost? I'm thinking about going....I saw a vid that said it cost one guy 30 grand, does it really cost that much?....If so I think I'll pass.
I just seen another vid with a 4yr.old operating it,with a little practice, how hard can it be??? of course i'm talking about basic operations, anyone knows that experience is the best teacher.
I,ve been an operator for 27 + years run many different machines and have never had a license I think that these heavy equipment schools are a crock of shit they these kids thinking they can be an operator in a few short weeks and 10 grand later and they aren't qualfied to do shit
@happytobehim That's all well and good, but 27 years+ ago you didn't need to have licences and safety certs JUST to get into the industry. Anyone wanting to even contemplate becoming a NEW operator now, HAS to go through all the shit to be considered. It's catch 22. The companies hiring want operators with experience. To get experience you need to get a job. To get a job(nowadays) you have to have the appropriate licences. But just having the licence doesn't mean you're experienced. Can't win!
Who are these people who want to issue licenses? What are their qualifications to issue licenses? If you get a license and screw the pooch are you still at fault? Just a couple of questions.
They know how to drive the machine, a licenses is not to show you can drive the machine it is to cover the companys back if any thing happens, becuase when some thing does happen it is your fault and not the companys.

@ArtWithRob A 13 week course will run you approximately $24,000
Alot of that is fuel cost. It is an expensive training program, but the cost
will help you take it seriously.
