  • hipster garbage

  • I don't get it in any way. o.O

  • Im sort of turned on by that model / amputee.

  • I love the beat at the end.

  • Ok, yes this is art. Strange, but art. Do I get it? Nope. Do I want to? Not really. Do I like this particular type of art? Not really. But I will say that I think that 1) Mr. Barney is creative, 2) he routinely drops enough acid to get a whole bus full of high schoolers frying balls, and 3) he is a total boob perv. To the point of creepy boob perv.

  • @theyvegonetoplaid You're a moron.

  • It's about not using that WORD ABOUT! for christ sakes this is not a rihanna song people. This idea that we have to fully understand is just a myth. The human reproductive system is the CREAM MASTER. It's about many beautiful, things. The human body, exhaustion, love, challenge. This was a particular reference to man and the idea of building and destroying. He begins at the bottom and reaches the top and so on. I mean I can go on for days. It's subversive and it will always be. Go to a museum

  • Pinkie Pie gets attacked by a furry in an empty Guggenheim which also happens to be hosting a rock concert and a man flinging cream at a canvas.

    makes sense.

  • @IronWaffles its not some "man" its richard serra. and its not cream, it is vaseline.

  • yeah and he probably doesnt give a fuck about your opinion

mind your own trip who gives a fuck

  • ...there's a difference between unique creative art and complete hipster shit...just saying.

  • @strengthofwill Ahm, actually not. Art is always subjective.

  • Did you guys hear that the Guggenheim is in finical trouble? Yeah, apparently the whole building is in a downward spiral.

  • Os videos de Matthew Barney é muito forte, as vezes me dá um mau estar!

  • maybe some LSD and been beaten with N industrial hammer do the trick

  • CHECK OUT CREMASTER COSTUME VIDEO

  • how dumb are you....its obvious he was on a acid trip and this is a reenactment. Notice there is no plot. The random shit that happens could be the random shit you notice on a trip.

  • Fucking art fags... pardon my language. Any half-witted, pot head twat can make shit like this. To NEVER release it on DVD just show zero confidence in the work, and from this clip, I can understand the zero confidence. :/

  • What a waste of everyone's time who was involved in the making and has watched this. Everyone loses with the Cream-loser... Cream-amateur more like it.

  • That clip could use a little more Vasso!

  • AGAIN HOLY MOUNTAIN - Alexandro Jodorosky- SHOULD GIVE YOU A THUMP-

  • @Houdini555 I think Jodorovsky had more going for him, IMHO.

  • @BobChaos23 Thank goodness that other people feel this way.

  • Is Cremaster. NOT creAmaster Lol

  • @primalcutlery Why should everything be forced to appeal to the 'common folk'? (Which is an insulting phrase in the first place). Fuck the lowest common denominator. It serves only to make popular culture crasser and crasser and insult people's intelligence. What about the 'uncommon folk'? Don't they deserve art and culture they can enjoy? We don't all want to watch Transformers.

  • I can appreciate how this work comes across as weird or shit or whatever, but it requires an intellectual shift in mind to understand and appreciate, just like all contemporary art. Its not to be understood in the context of the way we have been conditioned to understand film and more traditional art, i.e. the viewers own interaction with the video could well be the underling idea, which therefore would mean that the art is the viewers experience.

  • @cprostudio art is a human abstraction. I can take a shit in the public and proclaim it's art. It would now be on my personal charisma skills in order to produce an appealing matter to which it would be called art.

Please don't say this is 'art' with such certainty.

  • if its not open for the common folk to see this movie, which its openly not, i just say its shit.

  • This really is an archetypal art film no doubt about it, but I have to say the cinematography was kind of a let down, I've seen way better (Kubrick and Fellini immediately come to mind), just putting artistic images (ok weird shit) into a movie really isn't enough to make it a work of art, not for me anyways

  • Fuck. Postmodern theory gets out of hand sometimes. The meaning in work like this is too vague and ultimately ineffectual to the majority of people to be worth all the breath it takes to analyze, organize, and explain it.

On top of that, it just feels so fucking tacky that it makes me not want to know what his point is.

  • well. If you completely ignore analyzing it (or are intoxicated in some way) it is well worth a laugh. Faux analysis is fun too.

  • @parniak

Don't bother with analysis and explanation-- that's too heady an approach. Does it have to have a point? You're not supposed to "read" a film like this, just watch it.

I agree that feels tacky, I gotta assume that's on purpose.

  • Crapmaster! Low budget David Lynch wanna be! The attempt to be confusing for the sake of invoking an intellectual or abstract meaning comes off at best, Silly.

  • Matthew Barney went to Yale. Skull and Bones, Masonic handshake, green and red are the colours of witchcraft.

  • Just because he went to Yale doesn't mean this video isn't a piece of shit. Yale is not known for its Art students. Even if he did go to a famous art school this would still be shity video. You could stare at a green and red turd and speculate whether or not that it came from the devil himself .That doesn't mean that your a great artist for pooping it out.

  • Barney was a football jock, the illuminatti like elite athletes.

  • @theemarsterofarses does Barney partake in witchcraft?

  • @mattdogg65 No he doesn't.

  • I disagree with the comments below, the performance stunning, and the connections astounding, not knowing artist work in depth , introduction has given me a great thirst to look further, the "performance" a tool to present a concept a "piece" so to speak, and the subject matter being from a place i would often find myself....questioning ??? the Animal within..the "contrived arrangement" aspect was great for me to follow...brill !

  • This makes me feel kind of funny, like when we used to climb the rope in gym class...

  • i don't get it.. whats the point? someone explain rather then give me thumbs down.

  • It exists so you can smoke a ton of grass and sit back and chill and watch it. Don't you know how awesome that is? That is why I love these films, they are awesome to watch on drug trips.

  • This is funny, amusing, unique 'film'.

It doesn't need a book written about it's complexities to be outstanding.

  • ooooh, "ART"

  • the srongest part about this sequence is the obviously the striking contrast between the quiet interaction and the screaming performer. that saves it.

what bugs me is the staging and framing of the action.

    It's kind of amateurish.

Too much unnecessary walking and waiting gets in the way of what could have been extremely engaging.

The characters looks stiff and unconvincing. They look like they are engaged in a totally contrived arrangement. it makes me uninterested.

    Kind of like The WIZ.

  • I think the walking is meant to be a kind of gimmick to showcase her lack of calves

  • The apprentice confronts his mirror self, the feminine. As they met on the level in the five points of fellowship the word is spoken and the trust sealed. The mirror feminine then breaks the seal of trust and awakens the new apprentice alter, the animal within. The old alter is now dead and the apprentice may now ascend to the new level.

  • Ok,it is kinda intresting,but I wouldn't spend $250,000 for a copy....

  • is this taking place inside the guginheim(?)

  • This is what severely mentally deficient people hallucinate. What the fuck.

  • HUH?t

  • this is art! i love it!

  • okay, what?

  • It's from an art film by Matthew Barney, came out a couple years ago. Look it up.

  • beautiful!!

  • WTF was that.
