i remember having learned this scale in a different way, but im not sure which one correct now. the way i learned it was basically the minor scale shape without the 4th and 7th note, and just sliding up in octaves. is that a different scale, im confused
Playing clean is the best way to progress. Number of years ago my band moved countries, I brought my guitar on the plane with me but my amp came by boat 2 months later. In those two months of playing an electric, un-amped, I tightened up my playing tenfold. It also strengthens the other golden rule of guitar which is "don't practice mistakes". Clean tone playing shows up all your flaws.
If I'd listened to my own advice I wouldn't be the mediocre guitarist I am today. I'm working on that tho.
@sony150 Practice scales using a metronome on a loop. There are browser-based metronomes if you don't have one. Just set it at a certain tempo, play a scale to it, and increase it. Always play clean. There are already hundreds of videos on youtube on that, so check those out ;)
@sony150 Well I figured since it's the first of a few guitar scales I'd add in a little intro so the next videos will probably be like 2-3 minutes long. It'sonly 5 minutes though, I didn't talk that long :p
Thanks for your replies, everyone. I see that people want more scales like this so I'll be putting out a few more videos along these lines.
actually pretty good video :D maybe some tips about understanding the scale would help.. even if its just a few songs or licks which use the same scale
@Shadowrose3820 Well it's a win-win for me and the viewers. I teach them how to play what they want to play, and from me learning how to play the song by ear it's helping myself get better also.
@Shadowrose3820 As with all you do, there should always be a personal gain. That gives even more value to what you do. I tutor for psychology course, but also for guitar. Teaching others makes me better at because it forces me to stay on top of the literature. They learn as well, but I get paid. Without compensation there is less motivation.
more videos for practice :) pleasee~
