  • Do you switch the BIOS with the PC on or off? I have heard it both ways.

  • @gtfoxy You can do both. The new BIOS will only be effective after you power off and on you system.

  • Please @machuidel, can you share your BIOS? For me is not working :(

  • those who cards when they switch the...switch, the shaders are automatically unlocked..can you guys save the bios you have and upload them somewhere...because I bought my card in August so for some reason I cant unlock it..! So PLEASE I would really want to try it with your bios..!

  • guys watch out cause not all sapphire 6950 dirt unlock especially those with the antilles chip, most cards who the serial ends in -50 is more friendly to unlock

  • @TheMetatron1979 will the ones with -20g unlock ? i saw in comments one guy unlocked it but others i guess didnt know anything about it.

  • @TheMetatron1979 Yes my card ends with 50

  • @TheMetatron1979 Bought mine, brand new less than a month old. It's still possible to do, you just have to edit the existing BIOS and force flash via DOS prompt.

  • @GamersAnonymous36 Was a bitch, took me about 8 hours before I found a way/ method to unlock it.

  • Nevermind. That was the effective memory clock :P stick confused about the switch though- it didn't unlock the shaders just by flicking it to the right.

  • Now I'm really confused. Your memory clock says 1375, mine says 5000! WTF

  • Could someone upload the original bios with the switch on position 2? i'm getting some striped screens and i'd like to re-install the bios with the shaders unlocked.

  • Hey machuidel, Could u upload that 2nd bios from the 6970? or send it via mail? would be awesome! letme know dude! i accedantly erased the 2nd bios so:)

  • @MrRikkuzrodriguez Copy your first bios. For me both BIOS'es were exactly the same :|. Compared them using a MD5 sum.

  • evetytime I reboot my clocks reset to stock 6950, is it because I didnt do the BIOS switch thing?

  • yo dude. do you need to up +20 ccc for stabilty?? i set to 0 and bump up on trixx @ 1150 but it will crash. mine is the same as yours. switch bios to unlock 1536 shaders. Help!

  • Nevermind, all i needed to do was download the version of winflash that is shown from the link inside RBE. The newest one didn't work properly.

  • When I try to analyze it gives me the error "No ati video card could be found"

  • @machuidel

hey i tried flashing the card and it worked for the shaders but my texture fill rate and pixel fill rate is still the same

    1536 shaders

    76.8 texture fill rate

    25.6 pixel fill rate

    what iam a doing wrong

  • Soo to make my self clear. All you need to do is click the switch it automatically changes shaders?

  • @Fittlemen yes

  • Does the xfx 6950 2gb have this ability also? its the newer one with 2 fans

  • My "Sapphire Toxic OC 6950 2GB" card also came with the 6970 bios already installed. A flip of the switch is all it took. I love these types of cards.

  • hi.

can you please provide me a copy of your bios? I have the same card but no unlocked bios?

    Thanks for your time

    William

  • @machuidel WOOOT <3 NEDERLANDERS!!!

  • everytime i start up my computer i have to apply the settings in trixx. anyone knows how to automaticly overclock my graphics card settings?

  • @masterluuk4 Go to "Settings" in TriXX and make sure you have these boxes checked...

Load on Windows startup ---- Check the box

...and restore clocks ----- Check the box

Set clock on change ----- Check the box

You can also check "and start minimized" if you don't want to see trixx every time you start your computer.

  • @machuidel

  • I already love Sapphire but I guess I will be addicted to their cards if this is really working ! Woot woooot !

  • I just bought this card and i must say: WOW!

I to was preparing myself to venture in the "flash bios" or "modify bios" business but... it´s not needed! Sapphire have done all the work! Just flip the bios switch and you will get unlocked shaders! It was NOT FLASHED WITH A 6970 BIOS! Sapphire just unlocked the shaders in the second bios. Now just get the Trixx software from sapphire up the clocks to GPU-880 MEM-1375 and 1,115 volts and you will have a 6970 100% stable! BRAVO SAPPHIRE!

  • @Modelistis Thank You , your Comment helped me the most !!! Awesome i have 2 of these Cards-now i have 2 x 6970 with Dirt 3 & Deus Ex for about 500$....2 cards original 6970 would be around 700$....Props to Sapphire ,and thanks too, to machuidel without his vid not even realized bout that switch! and let me correct think voltage is 1150 works flawless tried it with heaven, skyrim, crysis2 about 45 min no problems!!!

  • I just ordered this card, I didn't know that it did come with a 6970 BIOS lol. I was manning up to get into the whole graphics card BIOS flash business which I've actually never done before. It'd be awesome if I can just flick the switch, lol.

  • :) i did just switch like shinakuma told and surprise it works...thanks

  • People, this card comes with the 6950 and 6970 bios.:)

If you change the switch position and then look in the gpu-z you will see the shaders unlocked. you don't have to flash anything, just change the switch and encrease the clocks manually.

For me, this is the best card EVER!!!!

I hope you all read this!!

  • @shinakuma3 Hey thanks for noticing this!

  • @shinakuma3 This worked for this card. Thank you so much!!!

  • @shinakuma3 Thank you. Now I understand why the checksums for both BIOS images are the same. It seems that this card enables the extra shaders through hardware, only by switching the dual-bios switch. I will change the description of this video and give you credits.

  • @machuidel No problem. You deserve the credits as you have made the video. Do you know any other model of hd 6950 that can do the same?

  • @shinakuma3 could you somehow prove this?

  • @Shzero0 No, everybody here have done the same and it worked. Ask them.

  • @shinakuma3 i will it try it later when i receive my card later today, but all you have to do is flip the swtich, right?

  • @shinakuma3 you were right man, it worked! thanks a lot!

  • @Shzero0 Enjoy it!

  • @shinakuma3

Haha worked for me, now I manually changed clocks and run trixx on background so it keeps the modified clocks :)

  • @shinakuma3 lol? so all i have to do is change the switch position? so no downloading or installing etc.... ?

  • @ninosM1 Indeed, after that go play battlefield 3 :D

  • @shinakuma3 lmao thanks! very strange but great nonetheless:D

  • @shinakuma3

im gonna return my twin frozr 3 6950 tomorrow becuase the second dvi port doesnt work. im gonna switch it for this? are u sure u can get the 1536 shaders? thanks btw

  • @shinakuma3

doesnt unlock for me. when i flick the switch same shaders. tried unlocking with RBE, wizzards mod bios. tried flashing it with sapphire 6970, doesnt boot. ive got the sapphire 6950, with the small box, not the dirt 3 edition. but it has dual bios and dual fans. help?

  • @siccmadegames This only works with this model. The other ones you have to flash the bios.

  • @shinakuma3

can u tell me which bios to flash it with please

  • @shinakuma3 can u upload that bios? give me a pm :)!

  • @shinakuma3 I flicked the switch and nothing happened :(

  • @shinakuma3 are you fucking kidding me i bought one today and im search how to unlock lol fucking going to do that

  • @shinakuma3 hey is this true with all 6950s or just with the sapphire, cause i just got a diamond

  • @shinakuma3 so which position should we set the witch to, the one closer to the crossfire bridge or the one further away?

  • It doesn't work with my card either!

  • @Brenster56 Read the update. The message from "shinakuma3". Just restore the default BIOS. Changing the switch is all that it takes.

  • thanks, I've sorted that issue now :)

how do I 'activate' the bios you uploaded, so to speak?

  • will it work with most sapphire dirt 3 hd 6950s, because I thought the shaders were laser locked? Also, at what date did you buy your cards? I left my pc at home and will eventually try unlocking both of my cards ( they are the same model as yours).

  • @DarkRage6969 I bought my card 2 weeks ago. Please see the details on this video for downloading my shader unlocked BIOS.

  • Can you send me your unlocked bios? It seems my out of the box bios is HD6990 bios.

  • @bogelo See and read the details on this video

  • @machuidel thanks

  • @bogelo Let me know if it worked. Good luck ;)

  • @machuidel Didnt work with my card... sucks... It booted up with 1/2 of the shaders. Thanks for the info anyway.

  • @bogelo Read the update. The message from "shinakuma3". Just restore the default BIOS. Changing the switch is all that it takes.

  • i seem to have fucked up unlocking and my taskbar and start menu have disappeared, any idea how to get them back? I've switched the bios switch back and loaded the backup bios in rbe

  • @seawer If your system is booting and not freezing or showing artifacts then the problem is probably somehere else. I think the cause is the resolution that was changed or that you accidentally hid the status bar.

  • @machuidel Read the description update

  • Thanks but It Didnt work with my card, The same model. Base on the research I made on google, around 70% of them are Laser-cut(you cant unlock shaders).

  • @martchart I am aware of that. Some cards have the (in chip) traces removed that are needed to enable the extra shaders. Also once the extra shaders are enabled it is best to slightly increase the voltage to prevent transistors for being destroyed (I assume because of half-on situations which causes transistors to act as resistors and dissipate a lot of energy = heat).

  • @martchart Also, try it again with the custom bios I just uploaded.

  • @machuidel You're custom bios doesnt unlock my car, still 1408 shaders... but its not a big deal, the card is a beast at stock speed and can overclock pretty good.

  • @machuidel Read the update and the message from "shinakuma3". Just restore the default BIOS. Changing the switch is all that it takes.

  • so would an overclocked not flashedl 6950 get higher performance or a flashed and overclocked one?

  • @MrPandawesome read this...

    legitreviews(DOT)com/article/1608/13/

    overclock(DOT)net/amd-ati/909086-6950-shaders-unlocked-vs-full-unlocked.html

  • @MrPandawesome Probably almost the same. Unlocking the shaders will bring better performance for larger resolutions, tesselation and future games. For anything else the difference will only be several frames per second.
