yeah man i just remember the good times playing serious sam(every single one) with my friends and this is just a great example of what every fps should look like but today we only have stupid cod that is plant a charge here,plant a charge there it s just not fun

Great game but it can be same over and over again and then it just gets so repetitive and boring...it is a good game never the less....Painkiller is also great but still repetitive..Serious Sam 1 is better than Painkiller though..good review though..you seem like saying that this game is perfect which it is not you need to pick up some few bad things about the game..

Just got my copy of Serious Sam: First Encounter and it's GLORIOUS, even when running on my 6-year-old laptop!

You forgot Serious Sam the Next Encounter. I don't think it has a connection story wise but many weapons/enemies are similar. You do get ammo types (autolock minigun bullets are god like), vehicles and region specific enemies, something SS second encounter really needed. I think you can get a port on the PC.

Anyway, man I loved SS1. It is awesome, with amazing weapons and enemies.

its drating awesome. WIsh i had someone to play co-op with though :(

Well I took your suggestion and got SS 1st & 2nd Encounter. Unfortunately it's no longer available in stores so I had to grab my cutlass and do some online pillaging & plundering, if you know what I mean. First thought after playing for 5 minutes was "What the hell? This shit is bananas! They were on drugs when they made this game."

And it's fucking awesome! It might even be better than Painkiller.

@S0nicH It really wasn't a bad game, but it just wasn't like the original encounters, which i know is very upsettting, and I myself hated it the first time through, but after a few others, i developed a special love for it. It is overrall a well-constructed game and all, but just didn't stand up to the originals. The over-dosed comedy is what ruined it for most, but it's a good game. Though, I do prefer the First and Second Encounter's Style much more

@S0nicH i wouldn't say that though andy. I had serious sam 2 when i was ten because i adored the sam series. it may have looked a bit childish but i found it humorous, awesome music and a game that took about 15-20 hrs to complete. you don't see alot of games now with those characteristics.

seroius sam is my 2nd fav FPS after Quake 2. So many modern FPS gamers slagged the HD remakes by saying the game was crap becasue its too retro in its game design with no stealth, cover system, destructable object or real plot. They just dont get it unfortunatly, thats what makes Sam so fun with its fast and fluid gameplay instead of the slow and less fun gameplay of modern FPS.

Fast arcade like gameplay is the reason retro gaming is so popular and GJ to croteam for realising this fact.
