this song reminds me of my brother Johnny... he got in a swimming accident... he had been drinking and misjudged the depth of the water he was diving into and broke his neck... He's paralyzed now... but I saw him 5 minutes before the accident and he had been begging me not to tell my parents he was drinking underage... I still wonder if I told him to screw himself if he would have been so pissed at me he would have left the swimming hole and still be able to walk today...

I survived a truck crash in 2006 with the guy I was seeing at the time. I will never fully heel but I try to prove them wrong everyday!!! This is an amazing song and the lyrics are sad but being a survivor is the best way to honour those of who we have lost in those crashes!!! We both lived but are no longer friends unfortunately. My new reason for living is my 16 year old daughter (who was not in the crash with us) She has pushed me through my recovery, I owe it all to her!! I love you Becca!

Drunk driving is like the #1 (or I think it's #2 now, next to distracted driving ) cause of accidents and deaths on the road, yet it is (one of) the #1 most preventable cause(s) of accidents/deaths on the road. One of my best friends, Kenny, had a sister named Kara. She died last year becasue a drunk driver drove and 28 wheeler the wrogn way dow na highway. I lost both Kenny, whom I have known for years, and Kara, whom I had never met, on that day. Kenny didn't coem back to school this year. I will most likely never get to see him again. The only three things in common with both songs is the name Joey, the implied drinking, and the impression that both songs are for the young. I survived a truck crash in 2006 with the guy I was seeing at the time. I will never fully heel but I try to prove them wrong everyday!!! This is an amazing song and the lyrics are sad but being a survivor is the best way to honour those of who we have lost in those crashes!!! We both lived but are no longer friends unfortunately. My new reason for living is my 16 year old daughter (who was not in the crash with us) She has pushed me through my recovery, I owe it all to her!! I love you Becca!

My sister lost her an amazing guy to a drunk drive 2 years ago... and this song says everything that she feels.... Everytime we hear it we think of him... He was an amazing kid and all we can do is just hope that he is free..... Every word of this song speaks words to her that she was never able to say herself... I know she blames herself for letting him go that night...... Sugerland is the best and they always come out with songs that mean something....

my fiance, joey, was killed when he was hit head on by a drunk driver back in 2009. i was in the passenger seat. i am glad i was able to spend his last moments with the love of my life. this song has very special meaning to me and still brings tears to my eyes when i hear it live.

Drunk driving is like the #1 (or I think it's #2 now, next to distracted driving ) cause of accidents and deaths on the road, yet it is (one of) the #1 most preventable cause(s) of accidents/deaths on the road. This song reminds me of my first love Joe..We was dateing and getting ready to go to my jr prom..We got into a fight one night and I didnt go out with him that night instead I went out with my friends to drag main street in the next town..He chased me several times and I wouldnt stop and talk to him..After heading home that night we ran into a wreck then my heart sank when I seen it was Joes truck..Luckily he escaped with minor injuries and we was still able to go to the prom w/ stitched lips.

One of my best friends, Kenny, had a sister named Kara. She died last year becasue a drunk driver drove and 28 wheeler the wrogn way dow na highway. I lost both Kenny, whom I have known for years, and Kara, whom I had never met, on that day. Kenny didn't coem back to school this year. I will most likely never get to see him again. Kenny pretty much died the day Kara did.

Back in 2007 i had a friend get killed in a drunk driving accident his cousun was behind the wheel and my frined was the one killed. I was doing good till this song cought on and registered with me. I really listened to it today and broke down and cried for the first time in a long time. I miss you so much Jake rest in peace buddy.

Last summer, July 16th 2010, 4 of my friends were in a car accident that claimed two lives. Monte and Britany. R.I.P When I hear this song, I think of them. I wonder if they can hear all our prayers and thoughts. I feel guilty. I had wanted to txt Monte earlier that day, but I never did. I still wonder if I couldve made a difference, but I accept that I cant change whats been done. I love you both. We all miss you like crazy. We will meet again my friends. Untill then. <3

On new years day, 2011, very good friend of mine/co worker died, I got the news at work. I didn't know what it was like to lose a friend. I think of him and miss him everyday. Wish you were here Shawn! Miss you buddy!

This song gives me the chills. Not long ago, one of my best friends, named Joseph, was in a bad car crash, and if he'd died, this would've been my thoughts exactly. All the what ifs, what could I have done to prevent it. As it is, I just thank God he's alive and mostly well, and still feel a bit guilty because the crash happened between our houses, after we'd hung out one day.

almost two years ago, my brother, joey, died in a car accident! my sister tried to stop him from going anywhere, and he had gotten engaged that day. this song came out on the radio, the day after he died! i have so much hope that this was him talking to us the day he passed. i thank you sugarland for giving me the opprotunity to love him a little bit more from this song!

@stpeteaustin No it's not. I love Concrete Blonde and the song Joey by them is about break up. The only three things in common with both songs is the name Joey, the implied drinking, and the impression that both songs are for the young. It seems to me that Joey in Concrete Blonde's is an alcoholic by this line "I know you've heard it all before, So I don't say it anymore, I just stand by and let you fight your secret war". Well there is a fourth item, both songs are sad songs.

Gosh, what's wrong with her face? Yeah she's a little goofy at times but that's part of her charm. She has that great twangy voice AND she's absolutely adorable. Sugarland made me fall in love with country music all over again - they compliment each other really well and should stay (haha, get it? Stay? lol) together as a band.
