i just intended to give up smoking for sake of allah and that was it. i hvn't felt any urge of smoking since then. brothers just intend to give up for allah and allah only. he will help inshallah.
Machallah a great video, I always give something for the sake of Allah. Subhannallah in ramandan I always gets closer to Allah, in last Ramadan I gave up film and the one before I stopped listening to music. I always get stronger in Ramadan, perhaps because of saitayn is locked up. But I hope (so much) that we will be the best of main kind with the best manners and knowledge (again!).
I also quit backbitting and now i encouraging others to stop aswell. Along with cursing, playing with salah (on and off), disrespecting my mother, and i most importantly quit ''not going back to someone i already quit''.
Leaving my bad friends gave me in return greater friends who also strive for Allah's sake. I gave up watching tv 24/7, and subhanaAllah i seem to have more time on my hand alhamdulilah although it is still not enough ya3nee time is precious. And we should all use it wisely.
after that alhamdulilah it all followed i was able to quit music, then cursing, easier to lower my gaze, kept up my 5 prayers until i got it down. Truly, Allah does make anything easy for the one who does it only for Allahs sake.
forget Oprah or Dr.Phil, this is really the best life ever.
I gave up music 3 Ramadans ago. I was never really sure why honestly. I didnt know how to explain it to my friends. I just knew it was bad for me, and I heard the punishment for it that one gets in the grave. Alhamdulilah though after hearing The End of Music video, it was as if he put all my feelings into words.
Allah put barakah in my time and I got a lot more done with my life. islamic knowledge, college, family life and everything. May Allah reward you and increase you in barakah.
This is a true story that happend to a close friend of mine here in Holland. This friend works for a elevator company, he had a full time job but managed to get free of work every Friday afternoon so he could go to the masjid. After 3 years they offered him a much better position, better pay, less work. But they told him he could'n get Friday's of anymore. This was a real test on him. He really needed this promotion, so he could start a family and what not.
When he got the interview, he told them he wasn't willing to give up his fryday, and explained to them why. Now he thought tis is it, there is no way I'm going to be promoted. He was thinking of leaving his job because of this. But after 4 weeks he ran into his manager, and to his surprise he told him when can you start! He again explained him that he could't work on Friday, and this time it was no problem.
This is how Allah gave him what he wanted, just because he was patient.
@issyezza Beautiful story. There are so many similar to it, if only we could just count on Allah. May Allah keep you and your friend steadfast. Thanks for watching ATF Channel and until next time..
I gave up a bad word I learned when I was on college and the obsession with rings and earrings. I'm on the way of giving up music and the fear of wearing hijab in public. Wearing hijab is more difficult because where I live women do not wear hijab.
@airoba - asalamualaikum sister! i am too struggling w the hijab, n the music. but esp the hijab, since i love dressing up, i love being outdoors cycling, kayaking, sports etc so it plays a big impact on my life. indeed aft i started wearing it to sch i felt myself distancing w my schmates cuz i wld also start skipping outings w em. but alhamdulillah thru this i got to know who my true friends are. insya Allah we'll both get thru this tgt. stay strong! anyth just msg me. love u sis :)
@hudameansguidance Wa Alaikum as-Salam! At the internet search hijabs for sports and there is a lot of information about them. Wearing hijab is easy for me but not for those who are around me. Alhamdulillah I take action and wear it but now I need a strategy to deal with my family and friends that are Catholics, Witness of Jehovah, Pentecostals, Adventists, atheists etc. Inshallah If there is a will there is a way and Allah swt will guide us.
Jazakallahu Khayran, excellent video MashAllah. Sheikh Kemal is the best story teller! I gave up bad friends for the sake of Allah, and Allah replaced them with better ones.
@OneIslaam , I would say we have something in common. Although i have also given up listenning to music, and now alhamdulilah i have a nice tajweed recitation (for Quran). What i always wanted tabarkAllah.
I often tried to stop my bad habits (including listening to the music), it's so easy at beginning, not for being consistant leaving it.
The situation really sounds like what Mark Twain said, "Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times." (btw, I'm not a smoker)
Would you please to tell me how to be consistant (istiqaamah) to leave our bad habits?

I gave up music, from listening in my car to listening on my ipod
Allah replaced it with something better and thats the Quran and my love for it
Now i have a healthier mind which is not polluted by the shameful lyrics of most music today. Instead my head is filled with the speech of Allah swt
I also have givenup my friends, and inshallah Allah will replace them with righteous people.
I also have given up the club lifestyle, instead now I spend my extra time to engage in Islamic studies

I gave up Music for the sake of Allah. Rap, rock, pop, classical, metal, opera, so many other different types of weird music (in retrospect).
Next week I tell you guys about another I gave up for the sake of Allah. Can anyone guess?
