Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been around lately. These are nocturnal geckos, but i have handled them in the past. NEVER grab the gecko by the tail, but let it climb onto your hand, and let him do what he wants. I would let him climb a desk, wall etc, but would never hold him in my hand like a toy. They bite, and it hurts like a bitch. I never drew blood, but they have BIG jaws, as this is a 12 inch species to begin with. I currently own one vivarium with dart frogs. I will post a video soon :)
@ZimZim349 How much harder is it to take care of these guys than it is cresteds? I'm not saying cresteds are that difficult to take care of because they aren't and they are fun lol, but these leaf-tailed geckos are really starting to appeal to me and I sorta of want to get one, they are just way too sweet!!! Do they have difficult demands in terms of temperatures/humidities or is it relatively easy? Thanks for the help :) reptiles rock!!
yea they can be held but less than that the lined leaf tail geckos are not people person i had 3 of them and they were kinda mean lol but every gecko is different
yes u can handle them but they are not very social like other uroplatus
hey man awesome gecko, if thats a peace lily in the cage though id be careful, my veteranarian told me they are toxic to reptiles. lookin to get me one of these geckos soon as well
I've had a white lined gecko for over a year now and the lady at the pet shop told me they were hard to handle, angry, and needs a good bit of care. not necessarily true. mine is very tame once he's out of the cage. not hard at all to take care of ive feed him local butterflies and big moths and he loves them he's also friendly to about 3 other lizards.
sorry about that i misread. Yes you are correct, they are not that hard to keep and are very similar to cresties. I feed her extra large crickets, around 5-10 a day. I tried pinkeys, mealworms, and silkworms but they were all too slow to get a feeding response, and either died, or turned into a beetle :p
I have a uroplatus guentheri who absolutely thriving atm seriously he doesn't mind being handled and never missed a feed, I honestly think that he's much easier than any crestie as I've had a crested gecko before but didn't realise it was given to me with MBD and despite my best efforts still passed away.
I love my Guentheri he is doing really well and I can't wait to get him paired up and I'm on the look out for some sikorea :P
white line geckos arnt the same as uroplatus. They are like tokays and bite alot and wont ever tame down. I suggest you read up and prepare yourself to never handle them.
just a quick question for anyone that could help : i am buying 3 of these white line geckos tommorrow and i was just wondering if they bite alot and also how long would it take for me to get them tame if possible?
The next day...the reptile died

If you loved reptiles why would you incarcerate them in a glass prison?

Sweet!!
Make sure he doesnt eat the other lizards...i have heard some lineatus munch on day geckos.
ZimZim349 2 years ago
I would have to disagree that they are extremely delicate and hard to keep, especially if you are saying people want to go to them after cresties

well you are sorta wrong Uroplatus Phantasticus
and very very VERY difficult to take care of yes they are related to cresties but not the phantasticus
TheMegaInferno 2 years ago
I was talking about lineatus, sikorae etc. Satanics are more like dart frogs than geckos.

That tank was fine. Single leaf tails can be kept in a 18 x 18 x 24 tall.
ZimZim349 3 years ago

Yes, but only specialized ones and you might need to custom order but its rare. Reptile expos is the way to go.

You obviously havnt had leaf tail geckos before. Crested geckos are cool, but these are more difficult and for the advanced hobbyist.
ZimZim349 3 years ago
crested geckos are way better i got mine a few days ago and it the best reptile i ever purchased
