    Ramones 2

    social 4

  • to the elderly of punk. THE BEST OLD PUNK ROCK

  • This sticks ice pick to ass.My younger years music.

  • Punk? pop? new wave? nah just great music! and 30 years on it just sounds better.

  • love them!!

  • A reminder of how good the best of the Buzzcoks songs were

  • This ain't 77, 78 at the earliest? TOTP 78 this was.

  • This ain't 77

  • wow love him so much

  • i recently met pete shelley and his young beautiful wife.. he's a pretty nice and shy guy.

  • @immanueldecano He is married to a woman?

  • @TomGreenUK yup

  • Those two birds down in the front nicely pogo-ing with those fluffy '70s poodle hairstyles....LOL.

  • Absolutely one of the catchiest first wave punk songs I have EVER HEARD! Blows away The Sex Pistols entire catalog in one song! This is the kinda song that gets under my skin and I will end up playing it a hundred times in a row!

  • @MattHatter I totally agree with what you wrote! Wonderful punk melodies that the pistols could only wrote in their wet dreams! The BUZZCOCKS ARE THE GREATEST PUNK BAND EVER!!!!

  • 2 people did mind

  • evrey riff are better then the other one .. the lyrics are devine it's a god band !!!!

  • The Buzzcocks were a punk band, albeit one that included harmonies w/distortion - an old friend referred to the sound as "RAZOR POP" -- In many ways, the Buzzcocks were/are a hybrid punk band, much like The Clash, The Damned, and The Undertones.

  • P'tain, C bon par où ça passe... !!!

  • The crap my generation is subjected too compared to this..it's just unfair :'(

  • Grifori -was interrupted I go the idea that the sex pistols were put together and manipulated by Malcolm Mclaren. Johny Lydon doesn't hv a nice word to say abt him. What is pop music - a good tune - I liked the rezillos who were a punk band who also wrote catchy tunes. And Prefab sprout (who came a lot later). Love Pete shelley don't care what his sexuality is he is very sweet in his interviews and not pretentious at all.

  • GriforiZhukov - Interesting what constitutes a punk band - yeah they probablly did write pop songs but with an edge - Pete wrote some of the best (fast and furious) love songs. I got the idea that the Sex pistols were just put together by Malcolm Mclaren

  • He is gay!Q

  • @freddygoldstein You here to mettle over someone's sexuality or hear good vintage punk rock?

  • Sex pistols and the dammed didn't write as many good tunes as the BUZZCOCKS OR FOR THAT MATTER SIXOUSE SIOUX AND THE BANSHEES (whom I didn't like) but i can see that they also wrote loads of good songs too.

  • @hoodsxl odd, while I like them. The buzzcocks always sounded like a pop band to me. ;^) I'm that twisted...

  • @GrigoriZhukov They sound like pop because they knew how to write great melodies. Punk music with melodies, who can you say that about? You get everything it's loud, raw, fast and furious with the pop melodies!

  • Dont compare them to anyone! they are the buzzcocks and every song sums my life up - after yerars!

  • Sex Pistols overated..??? Buzzcocks, Banshess, Damned all great bands with different sounds so why put one of them down.!! Stupid post.!!

  • Sex pistols were so overated -give me the Buzzcocks any day. Better than the smiths as well.

  • Brilliant band, saw them at "Wee Jimmies" in Cowdenbeath about 10 years ago !. Great night, great band. Although i'm not sure about the time scale (I was totally hammered !), but it was a great night anyway !. (I think - I was drunk !). (Very).

  • The Beatles of Punk rock!

  • @KonChul BINGO!

  • slaughter and the dogs, cranked up realy high. thankyou very kind very hard.

  • What I like about this video is that it's all so effortless. Masterclass in song writing and composition of course. Anyone bought an engine from John Maher?

  • good comment. they are still a fine band

  • I love the polite pogo-ing of the Top of the Pops audience.

  • @Sohemian

Is it TOTP? I don't think its 1977 either.

  • @revjimbob what makes you think it's not 1977

  • @loverpool7

I'm sure I bought the album it is on in 1978, when it was newly out. I don't think they had any hits til 78 - I bought the single, 'Oh Shit!' in early 78, and they hadn't bothered the charts before that.

  • ELTON is GEH! ROCK ON BUZZCOCKS!

  • Je m'en fous!

  • When I liesten/see this I rewind/replay 2-3 times or more. 1 doze is just not enough anymore.

  • Very ash-like.

  • Kinda Monkees?!

  • @thenewfella1994 Keep it real...you got it!

  • fucking best.......

  • The Ramones and Buzzcocks were my Beatles !~

  • I don't mind the Cocks nor the Rezillos!

  • this song yes, better than most of things ever done..

  • This song always made me smile. Still does.

  • hardcore black metal deathcore punk agnostic atheist rock

  • Preferred the buzzcocks after devoto left, i know a lot of people don't, but I'm a sucker for pop perfection such as this!

  • @Nosmos amen

  • Bow down to the majesty of Pete Shelley, all you worthless American pretenders to the glory of punk!

  • Standing the test of time as most punk tunes have the music industry didnt know what it had then and judging by the charts today it probably never will have the like again - but we have the memories and god am i thankful for that !

  • @Blitzkriegpunk77, Yes i think this was the best of the 70s music as i remember it, Punk was raw and energetic, was in to all of the bands at the time, Clash, Stranglers, Pistols, Sham 69, Buzzcocks you name it when most of the british public were listening to Abba and the BeeGees, i think it was too good to last and sadly by 1979 it was starting to die out as chart hits became less and less but it has undoubtedly left it's mark and as you rightly said we always have our memories.

  • Pete is Bi-sexual and is and has been married for a long time now with kids. If your going to make comments on someones sexuality at least get it right you ignorant fuckwits.

  • What were you doing in '77?

  • This is 1978, not 1977.

  • I'm seeing them tonight at Irving Plaza NYC. I can't wait.

  • Everyone! They're on Tour May 2010. YEAH!!!

  • Still touring ! & Pete Shelley still an awesome front man! Saw them last month in Preston!!!! Great song!

  • @Barbecutie1

    Top Of The Pops.

  • great song but you can tell its pre recorded

  • We just had an EP review saying our singer sounds like Pete Shelley, particularly in The Beat Generation. If anyone wants to let us know what they think, and if they like us, it would be much appreciated. Ta

  • a simple masterpiece...

  • any gay cunt get over it i´m hetro

  • @bickbar44: who the fuck is INTO cunts? hetorreros!!!

  • I was 14 years old and as ugly as a sack of shite but i pulled birds ?

Famous sayings "how come that ugly cunt gets a bird(slag)" ACT THE FOOL AND BUZZCOCKS come ???

  • love the buzzcocks an absolutely amazing band : D

  • One of the best tunes ever. This must have been the first Buzzcocks tune I ever heard way back when.

  • Hes gay but what does that matter when they have a great song like this? nothing at all go on the buzzcocks!!!!

  • @spartan2549 Great job on bringing it up then, idiot.

  • Idiot? Strong for someone who dosent even know me? I have nothing against him or their music I love The Buzzcocks I was merely responding to some comments. Think your the 'Idiot' for reading me wrong?

  • Pete Shelley wrote some amazing songs! Imho Buzzcocks were the second best band to come out of manchester (after The Smiths). The Gallaghers' cant hold a candle to them...

  • I'm not sure I believe in the notion of the "perfect song", but this is about as close as you can get...

  • There She Goes by The La's is the most perfect song you can get. I'd say this is probably the most perfect punk song.

  • One of my favorite "middle 8's" of all time starting at 1:12. I love how it takes a turn at 1:24 with the line "I even think you hate me when you call me on the phone." And then the transition back to the verse at 1:44 gets me every time.

  • It took me a minute to realize they are just lipsynching to the record ... still, a cool video and of their best songs.

  • @MackMcCoy not quite sure how old you are but back in those days TOTP only allowed very few live acts, everyone had to lipsync and the "huge" audience was not huge but quite small and they had to scurry from stage to stage to make it look like they had a large audience. So the bands had little choice but to Lipsync and the radio did not give much airplay to the punk scene, apart from a few such as John Peel (RIP) and Anne Nightingale.

  • This song has the power to cheer me up under almost any circumstances.

  • les Ramones d'Angleterre !!

  • Manchester's finest!

  • you idiots gay or not gay doesnt mean anything if the buzzcocks exist dont you understand? homophobic scums

  • @antidogmatico what are you talking about??

  • Pete Shelley is gay....maybe your dad went out with him but doubt yr mum did lolz! Perhaps he wasn't 'out' in those days?

  • how do u kno he is gay are you gay coz gay men can tell if other men are gay so that must make u gay
