  • omg it’s Harvey Keitel singing

  • rare FRENCH EP .

  • Incredible!

  • The Ten-Pound-Pom rock hall of fame includes just about everyone from the 60s to 80s in Aussie Rock.

  • good lord I read that as 10 pound porn. Blush. The Loved Ones were the first band I loved back in the day. Blew me away then and it was great showing these vids to my 20 year old daughter this year and seeing her reaction...

  • I can see the bass player was later in the lead singer for the Australian rock band, JET. He has aged pretty well considering this was probably filmed quite a while back.

  • @mistersmith6000 No no no

  • FABULEUX GARAGE BAND .....on adore

  • Has anyone got a version of "The Loved Ones" singing "Shake, Rattle and roll" - they had the BEST version of this song, ever!

  • @Kathy0851 Send me a personal message and I will send you the track.

  • Wow!,I bet this troupe often performed in The Bad Seeds' dreams....

  • This is really a classic R&B song, one of the first The Loves Ones wrote. It has interesting arrangement, harmonica, screaming, good verses, good blues foundation, and passion. It was the flip side of Everlovin' Man, which itself is probably the best song they recorded (not available on YouTube except the terrible 1987 live version [by then Gerry had 'lost his voice'; with bits from the 1967 version]. Loved Ones were probably the best Australian R&B group ever. Phil O'Hara, gpeproject@yahoo.com

  • Thanks for this awesome clip!

  • Isn't it uncanny though that not only did Barry and Gerry share the same surname, but they actually looked a lot like each other in the sixties?

  • Humphrys

  • Classic clip.....memories of Dark smokey pool rooms at Port Adelaide.....

  • I wish Gerry had more exciting band members like the Stones - would have been an international hit.

  • sensational vocals!!!!

  • I remember the Cherokees very well - the drummer had very long hair for the time - I scored a lot of shags out of Tenth Avenue!!!

  • It was great to hear the name Tenth Avenue again I had a band called THE CHEROKEES in the 60's and we were the first band booked to play Tenth Avenue when it opend.,It was then called Melbourns first Teenage Nightclub.

    Great Days

    Billy Dale CHEROKEES

  • yeah yeah -

  • Australia

  • Used to listen to Radio Australia via shortwave in 1966. The Loved Ones seared my forming brain. RIP, Gerry.

  • Yeah.Fantastic band. I saw them several times at a small lunchtime disco in Bourke Street Melbourne call Tenth Avenue.

  • Ah yes! Tenth Avenue, not much bigger than the average loungeroom, I saw a new fresh band there in 1965 called the Easybeats. I thought they were ok at the time, who knew....

  • another inimitable gem from australias' very own Loved Ones...thankyou

  • wow- stumbled on this;EPIC lead singer-pretty wild for 65-66....sounds like he's no longer living-a real shame....must of been great live gigs!

  • Not in the Oz Hall Of Fame? Who are the dickheads who run that gig? These guys were the real shit. RIP Gerry.

  • These guys are not in the Australian Hall of Fame? WTF ? The Loved Ones are one of the greatest bands ever to come out of Australia.

  • gerry is GOD!

  • i need the lyrics please!!

  • My first encounter with blues, a mate had their Bluebery Hill EP. Went to their farewell concert at Olympic Park in Melbourne. Absolutely original Aussie talent

  • I first saw The Loved Ones at a small club in Prahran in Melbourne probably 1966. That was the band that made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Anyone who saw the Loved Ones live knows what I mean, awesome band, RIP Gerry.

  • a good song

  • i remember seeing the loved ones at a saturday morning disco that used to be held at david jones in brisbane....was too young to go to a grown up dance....loved them then and love them now....best sound that ever was

  • Firstly, Gerry is NOT Barry Humphies brother! Gerry's surname was actually spelt Humphrys. That said, this was the one of the best bands to come out of Australia in the 60's, by far. RIP Gerry!

  • Yes, I agree with you there, but you might want to add an 'E' in Humphreys....cheers..

  • Gerry Humphrys......No 'e'

  • Jury's still out on that one ....I'll check my album cover again ....

  • I have both CD's of the Loved Ones 1. 'The Loved Ones Magic Box' 2 'Live on Blueberry Hill'

On the first CD Gerry's surname is spelt 'Humphreys', on the second CD it is spelt 'Humphrys' and Wikipedia spells it 'Humphries'

Go figure, one thing for sure a brilliant band around Melbourne in the mid 60's, I saw them live at every opportunity. RIP Gerry.

  • brilliant! makes the sex pistols sound like air supply!

  • I'll post a better copy on my site Pete,

    aussie music heritage

  • Legend. Thanks for sharing. Great to hear that blues harp again.

  • I have still got a pristine L.P. and blackbox cover it came in. I have always treasured it more than any other albums over the decades ..

  • Thanks for posting an iconic band.

  • its been a long time..my god i think i was 11 when this came out...fantastic song !!!

  • i'm looking to buy any aussie 60's beat records, contact me if you have anything to sell.

  • Gerry Humphries is the brother of Barry Humphries (Dame Edna). I bought the Loved Ones album "Magic Box" in about 1965 & I still have it. It is a classic album of that era.

  • I can assure you that Gerry Humphries is not the brother of Barry Humphries. The proof of this lies in Barry Humphries autobiography "More Please". But yes, "Magic Box" is a classic.

  • thanks again peter, that clears that up, after all these years, lol

  • thank you for making this available, i saw them live in the early 60's, i think he is the brother of dame edna, can someone verify this?

  • I can confirm that Gerry Humphries is not related to Barry Humphries. It's just one of those urban myths...

  • @glenlyons98 Maybe even a sub-urban myth. I'd always assumed it was true anyway... Interesting.

  • @goddamnit666666

Gerry was a 10 pound pom & in no way related to Barry Humphries. He returned to England when his singing career faltered & worked as a Hospital orderly. What a shame. These guys could have been as big as the Stones if they'd been managed right.

  • Great snotty punk vocals.

  • Eat yer heart out Mick Jagger...vale Gerry!

  • Great track.I've never heard it. Thanks for making it available.

  • I always love a good waltz.

  • totally awesome!!!!! gerry was the coolest!
