I remember competing with the cadets back in '83..... What happened to them being so innovative? It seems the Cavies have stollen their thunder this decade. "This I Believe"? please.....
I believe it was their 75th anniversary this year, also. I don't see why they'd need to be innovative this past season. I'm glad they finally did something classic as opposed to the narration and all that jazz from the past few years...
this is just me, but the biggest reason on why i don't favor the cadets is because of their drill. this is one of their better shows in a long time. they know their drill spots and they're just as precise as they are accurate, but their drill just doesn't go with the music like it does in the madison scout shows. and the cadets always look very small because of how the drill is written.
no offense ShootAndSpin, but being in that guard 3 years, I feel like that was the most physically demanding guard show I have ever been in, but glad an outside opinion can determine our show wasn't "world-class work"
I have to admit, Phantom just didnt have that "umph" this year. To me, the show just fell flat, and I am a Phantom Phan! Big "ups" to BD, and Crown was KILLER this year! Bluecoats not bad, either!

But then I saw it a few times and saw that its pretty good show,I still like BDs show better and I am biased AT TIMES,but I have to givve credit to those who deserve it as well. 2008 champs for example, might pissed off that BD lost but I gave PR major credit. BDs show is just cleeaner and more entertaining than the other shows,You can sometimes feel how,dont know hard to explain but its the feeling of a champs show
Im a huge BD fan, bleeding blue always. But I have to admitt, I loved their show at first when I saw them live at their first competition and at RCC, but then I saw it over and I just found myself not being interested in the show anymore. Like its not a show that I would keep watching everyday, because its kinda a fact that almost every dci fan has a show they love and watch endlessly. But then I watched again and I got used to and now I effing love their show to death. Seriously awesome.
Anyone who likes BD who has not marched there other than any of their shows from the 90s which their hornlines were soo much better is a bandwagon merch buying tag along the bando favorite blue devil fan... Sorry, but when you move in play the 4th most in 2009 which is typical by the way, you dont deserve to even be winning let alone scorring a 95.... DCI has turned into every other sport... Its all about what markets well, and every kid wants to be a Blue Devil...
The Semi Finals tonight is proof that it's all politics. BD scored a perfect "10" in technical visual performance tonight. There is something seriously wrong with that. It's almost as if DCI is saying, "The visual package doesn't matter at all. It's all about the music." BD has huge issues with intervals, form solidity and things as simple as not keeping in-step. This year the guard isn't really doing world-class work, so how can they be regarded so highly?
So do I man. I am not moved by what I have seen of the Blue Devils show yet. I will wait for Allentown though before I make any decisions. I am upset by Phantom's placement considering last year, but again I will see this weekend!!
I know! BD hitting 95 was ridiculous. Their show isn't very interesting either. Hopefully, Phantom will pull through. Let me know how Allentown goes!!
are you kidding? In my opinion, BD's show takes you back in time, with old style drums, and has very interesting music and especialy the chairs... PR just isnt showin it this year, i mean, a Red Violin? is that honestly more interesting than a show during the depression?

like i said, its just me. i prefer Boston Crusaders, Phantom Regiment, and Madison Scouts.
I don't hate any drum corp, and i like just about 95% of them, but those are my top favorites.

Yeah. We just can't agree on anything. The only thing I did like about BD's show was the end. Everything else was disappointing.

We have a taste for different things. To me, BD's show wasn't really a "crowd pleasing" type of show.
