Isaiah Is a great example for African Americans out there. Ever if they cant trace their root, Africa is Africa. We should all the one, cuz we are from the same mothers and fathers..... God Bless him..
you embarrassed who? hahahaha silly billy no you didnt embarass me now go and take that stick out of your butt I think its clogging your brain wave patterns.. dumbass.. you could never embarass me you are far to stupid to be able to have that pleasure.. SEE YA nnnot.. OLODO!!! LOL!
Get over yourself. You see how you left the subject we were on in first place. That means you didnt know what the hell you were talking about therefore stop talking about it. Good Job.
i notice the red marks come from those who cannot accept simple truths so i think it is a waste of time on here even discussing anything of any value..
@Tetzukai A large percentage of African-Americans have Native American and European admixture due in large part to the slave trade; however, these DNA results did not show that this young man's patrilineage went anywhere else but back to Africa.
to be honest this young man is pretty much on a path of self destruction.. at 16 already involved in the street life that will be guaranteed to end his life before the age of 24. am not sure if this will make much difference this is the life they live because they dont know any other way to do things..
@oluwalogbon58 Someone could have easily said the same thing about Isaih Washington but he turned his life around and became a successful actor. Change is possible if you really desire it. I prefer to be hopeful as opposed to hopeless.
i would have liked to see the conclusion of this tape, i was impressed with the dna one she did herself even if the announcer couldnt pronouce "Hausa" and Benin.. everything else on that tape was pretty much accurate... its amazing to see the ignorance about Africa that American blacks have and just how so removed they are from their racial origins and how they have absolutely no idea at all of the complexities of the cultures their forefathers came from on this vast continent .
i have seen the clip where they did a small segment on yoruba women and Hausa people as the judge has DNA traces from the two tribes.. the announcer didnt pronouce HAUSA properly the only annoying thing about the tape ..everything else was accurate.
It is a shame that we do not do this more often with our young people. Just--um, well, violent offenders? Keep the clear of the likes of Chris Brown and O.J. Otherwise, hats off to Judge Hatchett for introducing humanity to this young brother.
i need somebody like isaiah washington to talk to. like a therapist or something like that but a woman about me and my struggles. somebody i dont know who i can talk to and cry in the process.
the slave trade in west africa started way before that time.. africans and arabs were trading slaves for over three thousand yrs before the advent of the white man.. do some research ....
If you had done your research properly you would know that I was refering to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade the trade that brought slaves to what is now America. There have been several slave trades but none that involved America. Go back and do your research!
The more I see/learn about Isaiah Washington, the more I like him. He's a very intelligent, positive brother. I know the media had a field day dragging his name in the Mud over that "Grey's Anatomy" bullshit, but his character and achievements far overshadow any skewed/biased media reports about him...
I have this on Tape, its one of the best. Judge does the best job in the world to straighten up these comfused kids. I wish that Judge Joe Brown, Mathis, especially Judge JUDY would do the same thing.
Whats happening in Sierra Leone today is not of consequence here. Why is it when something positive hapens to us black ppl some nitwit always finds it necessary to distrct from the reality it conveys. Plse desist from posting comments that only displays your simple mind. Listen carefully - you might learn somthing yourself. ALL PRAISE TO THE JUDGE FOR MAX EFFORT TO ENLIGHTEN OUR YOUTHS!!!
I have been very touched by this video, I too do motivational speaking to help others from addiction. Like depression, drug abuse and suicide attempts, My life story and it a open book.
All it takes is for ONE person to stop this brother and show him what he is about. Maybe this conversation will encourage him to be the strong AFRICAN man God intended him to be!
Fantastic! We all need to know where we came from. We need to remember the past so we can move forward and never let it repeat. Sierra Leone may not be paradise but it is where he is from. Perhaps this young man can make a difference. Who knows... at least his eyes are open a little bit more than they were.
My grandfather did a DNA test and we discovered that our ancestors were from Not only Africa (Senegal) and Europe. I feel very proud that after such an mindnumbing experience of the slavery that DNA allows us to reconnect with what without effort can be lost. I am happy that Judge Hatchett gave this young man the same opportunity to feel this reconnection. Peace and love to all the human race who all originated from one place....
I feel that my background means nothing cuz it ain't gonna pay my bills or anything. Besides, I'm so far removed from all of that that to dwell on it would mean nothing. Heck, I don't even think about it. I'm black and all, but other than being the race that I belong to, what does that mean? Nothing? Ok.
@jarbon5 Its pretty sad that you are not openned minded. There is more to life that just paying your bills. One day you hopefully will get it, if not then you will truly miss out on one of Gods gifts.
@jarbon5 Although what you say is true. it can benefit because when you know where you come from or your family history. you can prevent generational curses. but if you don't know even your family history or backgroung your just repeating the cycle instead of changing the bad into good. you don't even know one of your ancestors could have been rich and you could learn from them and how they reached there goals. # I'm just saying.

Which is older: America's existence or slavery?
deborahwa 3 years ago
American slavery goes back to at least 1619, at Jamestown, Virginia. (Of course, slavery worldwide is even older)

Slavery...the African slave trade started in the 1100's. Spain was one of the first to use slaves at this time
