  • I seen him at the VFW probably about a year or so before he passed. He knew his music.

  • Lovely. Blues will never go out of style. :D

  • All these years, I've heard Betty and Dupree mentioned in the lyrics of other songs, but this is the first time I've heard the original song that's about just them.

  • Great Sound!!!!!

  • Chuck Willis did this classic in 1958 for Atlantic Records with the backing the Jesse Stone Orchestra and his is the only rendition to have ever made the charts - # 15 R&B/# 33 Hot 100. The flipside was My Crying Eyes. Great record for doing "the stroll" in those bygone days.

  • @AvidOldiesCollector you remember the stroll. you're aging yourself. ain't it great. i'm 65 and i taught my daughter to stroll, chalypso and jive. great music, great times

  • love this song,

    top version,thx

  • Daaaam, love this version!....someone please post the Chuck Willis one

  • @IMPfunk1904 I AGREE...CHUCK WILLIS' VERSION WAS SO AWESOME

  • Love this song...love it more by Chuck Willis. Can't find it on here......

  • Keep up the good work!

I've tried to upload several Chuck Willis tunes but the copyright folks nail 'em every time. (I don't have him doing this song, though)

  • cdbpx I think Chuck's version is the absolute best. I might be a little predjudiced because his is the one we danced to back in 1963. Don't know when it was recorded.........

  • Yes, it is in a class all its own. This is one of my very favorite songs in the swamp pop category. I'm glad you enjoy.

  • great post thanks for sharing ....there is no music quite like swamp pop
