Haha! This video has officially made my day. I find it adorable when your Jake jumps around so joyfully. My Caique, Lolly also likes to hop around on the kitchen table and bobs her head up and down, but only when she wants to. Her eyes become pinned and she makes these growling sounds when she gets too hyper, and unfortunately for me, she becomes too aggressive and is hard to handle. Thank you for creating such a funny video with your talented Jake. :]

hehe... before I adopted my Caique I was looking around for any information on Caiques or see if I could find anything about his past. And I found this video. One of my Caiques does the same thing when I put music on, I don't think it's aggressive although I was like WTF when I first saw him do it lol The pinning eyes just mean their excited, not always that they are gonna bite a chunk out of you. The only thing that makes my Caique nasty is wet wipes, he really hates those and tries to attack them :P

I can assure you that the popping and locking is not aggreesive behaviour in this case. He does this when he sees something new or gets partically excited. As you can see he stops to whistle in between haha

@Arcoo33 Another way to get your caique to do that is to get it "hyper" or exited like u said. u can wave your hands in front of the bird rapidly up and down to do that it works for my bird

that bird is being egged on. he's definitely in an aggressive stance. you're doing something off camera to get him angry.

you obviously don't know anything about caiques. The flash the red eyes is when their excited. A flashing of red eyes is common when they reach the age of maturity. IT would be aggressive behavior if the eyes flashes red and lunges at the owner. If the bird is taking an aggressive stance .. thats what it has wings for.

i know caiques have a red ring in their eyes. i have one of my own. i never mentioned its eyes, and only its stance. i know my caiques, i know my parrots, and that bird was being taunted.

popping and locking is agressive behavior. you can also see sudden pupil contraction. that behavior is result to intimidation and fear. i have a 3 yr old whitebellied caique . i know that behavior, i am familiar with avian comrades. thats not funny...its unhealthy.

As long as you get one that is HAND FED and try to get one that is a baby (5-10 months old) you will be fine.

He is 7, and he is a Black Headed Caique. They are really funny and definitly deserve the title of "Clowns of the parrots", beause of their bright colours and clownish personalities.
