  • just sublime

  • Just sublime

  • wow

  • The amazing thing about Bach's music , is that it works with just about any treatment....not to imply that Anderson's rock/jazz treatment is lacking anything. Great stuff!

  • this was taken up by the BBC as the intro music for a programme called " looks natural " anyone remember ?

  • Just to prove that even today Classical music has it's jusification at the Mouthpiece of an absölute MASTER .....IAN ANDERSON

  • where can I find the sheet music?

  • this has become Ian Anderson's signature song, much more so than J.S Bach's.

  • The living legend. Keep on singing, to young to die...

  • I had to check out what all the hype was about since my middle name is Ian, named after...well you figure it out. My dad loved this guy. Nice work of music here.

    James

  • Viva Ian!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @joppiedepoppie - You do realize that Ian credited J.S.Bach with having written this piece 300 years ago? I have always loved Tull's version of it, but it is not their original. The classics frequently come around again.

  • complaining about clapping? haven't you ever been to a live show? people get into that shit, the crowds part of the music. makes things way more exciting

  • This is the music that I like very very much! Thank you Ian Anderson!

  • its seems like the audience surprise to hear the original piece at first

like they only knew the cover

    P=

  • Don't you think we were all a bunch of kids screaming to let our feelings about culture out about the time you released this mesmerizing number out ? Thats what political people do ..... hmmm the more I see the more I learn .. Did you know I couldn't find a direct mail source to email you on this ? You used to speak , but now you refrain .

  • this is a disgrace, anderson makes his own song into some sort of horrible shopping mall background music

  • this is a disgrace, anderson makes his own song into a sort of shopping mall music

  • Bouree means drunk in french

  • musical world today is not shit, search harder. Or just go to Recife lol.

  • @DavidWatersBarret Go to Recife? Brazil? Are you sure? lol

  • Relly nice ...My band coverd this in the 70s...good to see its still going...mike

  • I used to love Tull,,,not so much anymore, but I certainly do not dislike Ian...his music and my taste in music grew apart. It happens. But I still have about ten Tull CD's and a bunch of songs on my itouch....and....I still feel that Thick as a Brick is in the top 5 albums ever put to vinyl....that was an incredible masterpiece that can still throw a chill up my spine when I listen to it. For that album alone, Tull has a place in my heart.

  • Very nice! Ian has such a rich, soothing voice, I could imagine him having a late night spot as a BBC radio dj. How about it, Ian?

  • @ CoolKwstas123: I SO agree with you... it hurts!

  • The best showman ever!

  • I wish I was there!!! I even know the guy who set up all the stage stuff and I didnt even get a hook up XD

  • ha, he does kind of look like Peart, good call

  • He is a true talent

  • Classica,nao bastasse Ian Anderson...Ann Marie irresestivel,musica muito boa.

    Marcello Fron Brasil.

  • Jethro Tull, The Minstrel Looks Back 1969-1977 2DVD set available at Tommygunvideo - link and more details can be found on our Youtube channel

  • He looks like Neil Peart!!!

  • @Lrigyttiw LOL that's exactly what I thought. I was just about to say that. Awesome rendition.

  • I was introduced to Ian by my lost Aunt Bonny when I was just a kid . His skills haunt me now , because we found my wife's biological father who is also a world renouwd flautist , STEVEN FOWLER. we lost him before we got to know him.

  • those people clapping and shouting while Ian is playing will clap at their own farts. Ignoramuses !!!

  • Did you use After Effect or something similar to stabilize the video?

  • It's harder stuff.....but the only continuation of Tull music's heart and substance... is by Iron Maiden...laugh if you want...But I hear Tulllike lyrics and composition ( and s. harris the founder...gives Tull credit for Inspiration)..... laugh if you like ...but listen to a new song of theirs first...Iron Maiden..When the Wild Wind Blows....saw Tull 30 times live...have seen Maiden over 30 times...It's heavier...but melodic, heartfelt., ambitious and Intelligent.....all things Tull

  • un modo chiaro come la musica unisce vari generi musicali.

  • A genuine Johan Sebastian Bach composition...for eternity!

  • @ZadZadrack you got it wrong: he can't be Jethro Tull, and Rock is also formed of something else than just JT. Same with Theatricality and Musicality. Also, this song was originally composed by J.S. Bach, Ian just made his own version of it. Also - this song isn't rock - it is classical, in it's origin.

@CoolKwstas123 If you say that nowadays music is shit, you just don't know where to look. If you like this type of music, then I'd Say "Moondance" performed by Nightwish or then Ambermoon.

  • 0:00 i wait till the video starts with anxiety

    1:00 im feeling awsome

1:35 i start jumping from awsomeness

3:00 i continue to jump till the end

5:42 ....i started crying and realized the music world today is shit again

  • @CoolKwstas123

An appreciation of this band must necessarily result in pain. You are at once alone and then part of a group of people who understand. I'm 54 and understand you. It doesn't matter how old you are.

  • @CoolKwstas123 I'm 25, me and my mates have been listening to Tull since we were 16, some of them are producing music now, there is good music out there, not in the mainstream but it's out there, I promise! check out Laura J Martin, if you like flutes you might like her

  • @CoolKwstas123 Να είναι καλά και ο Bach όμως ε;;;

  • @CoolKwstas123

the real music world has gone underground.

you can no longer find it on the radio where it once was.

  • Yeah Me too. @CoolKwstas123

  • Ian Anderson devia se aposentar !!!! Parece festa da 3ª idade; esses caras que estão tocando com ele ( tirando a orquestra) são muito fracos, saudades do verdadeiro Jethro Tull dos anos 70.

  • i hate those fuckin people ruin this song everytime with their clapping while he plays it!

just enjoy these masterpiece and let you blow away from this genius musician...

and clap ya hands afetrwards ^^

  • @GermanBMXstyle Should they whistle, instead? imagine that horrible nightmare!

  • @GermanBMXstyle Fucking happens with every musician, damn I hate that people, which is almost everybody in a large concert. Fuck I need to start taking my gun when going to a gig.

  • @GermanBMXstyle I agree

  • @GermanBMXstyle

They don't know how to listen to this music.

  • @GermanBMXstyle when the beatles were on ed sullivan show, you could hear nothon but clapping and screaming,.. i hated it then,.

  • @GermanBMXstyle The thing is, you're just so fecking excited that he plays this that ya just can't contain yourself !!!! The audience is having a GREAT TIME !!!!

  • @GermanBMXstyle Yeah, and yelling...

  • @GermanBMXstyle Gave you a thumbs up - after the third time, I wanted to get my baseball bat.

  • @GermanBMXstyle

You go against everything Ian Anderson represents....

This is not a classical concert, but a progressive rock 'n roll artist/band playing a classical music. Ian Anderson is one of the craziest performers on stage in the history of rock 'n roll music (Or, at least, was).

  • @lfblast

i don't know exactly what you want to say, but my opinion is, that this piece of music (the bourée by mr anderson) isn't the type of music to clap to all the time. there are songs like locomotive breath where you can go crazy (or whatever, claping, what you want) or other "calm" songs. here, the claping only destroys the atmosphere the music is creating.

hope you understand my position :)

  • @GermanBMXstyle

I respect your position. But I can't understand it. Jethro Tull is a prog Rock band. If you want that type of behavior just go to a classical concert...

  • @GermanBMXstyle Couldn't agree more. Jethro Tull has a very mixed audience, some of which care more about rockin' out than the music itself.

I think good music can be defined by the much anticipated silence of the audience.

  • @GermanBMXstyle you're probably not a person that performs. the more excited people get the better you perform.

  • he older and and music is better

  • i have loved this music for sooooo long - thank you

  • had the pleasure of being there and seeing this Raanana concert live

    It was truly amazing!!

  • Not only he's a musical genius, he's also a fair standup comedian.

  • Dear Ian Anderson, May I have your flute babies, also known as piccolos? =D Love, Me x

  • First of all, I'm 16 and I love Jethro Tull and everything that is Classical Rock. Now, he came to Israel again, and I saw him live 3 days ago. I want to see Lady Gaga or Just Beiber jump around on one leg at 70. I'd like to see them play 2 amazing instruments AND sing wonderfully. Hell, I'd like to see them make music auto-tune or any of that crap.

  • @tunamir18 That's great! I didn't have the opportunity to see him alive but hopefully my parents listened to his music since I was a kid...and now I'm 21. I think it's great that young people still appreciate MUSIC and not those who pretend to make music.

  • @tunamir18 If you like Jethro Tull, that's great, but stop mentioning your age as if you were trying to impress people with the musical choices you make for your age. Second, Ian is 63, not 70.

  • @Faltzwig He was born 10 August 1947 - he is 63.

  • @samwisegamgeese Yes, that's what I said a week ago.

  • very great,thanks...

  • I was born in 64 and I ask myself: Where have all these genius gone, this poets of rock and troubadors? What you can hear today is far away from that suff here.

Poor people, who don't know nothing about the 70ies and early 80ies. There won't come better times. CURSUM PERFICIO.

  • The man from which I gained my a namesake....... I now realize that I'm lucky as hell.

  • I saw them 2 days ago,he pretended the flute was his dick and he masturbated.

It's good to know he still has those mad eyes thing.Love him!Genius!

  • what do all the tossers shriek like scalded cats for - wankers

  • mi piace mi piace mi piace!!! :D great!!

  • My younger brother was named after this incredibly talented man Fab Fab Fab Ian Anderson I grew up on Jethro Tull and never tire of listening to them.

  • What a crazy fellow. (Gets an A+ for creative originality). Love the mix of baroque and JethroTull-ishness. They should throw in a Vuvuzela just for fun.

  • @jazzflutist I love the mix too ;)

  • I got to see him when this tour came to Portland, ME. They played with the New England Chamber Symphony. Absolutely amazing.

  • If anybody asks me Why I don't believe or follow any of the Traditional Religions, I will answer: Because That God never created Rock & Roll, we , the Earthly People did. lol. Rock & Roll Music brings JOY & HUMANITY INTO ROCK MUSIC FOLLOWERS HEARTS, whereas Religions bring nothing more that DIVISION & HATRED between people of this Earth. lol. The Moral Of The Story is: "Jethro Tull Are The God Of Happiness & United people of this Earth. lol

  • the Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law passed by the Knesset on 31 July 2003, during the second Palestinian uprising, the law does not enable the acquisition of Israeli citizenship or residency by a Palestinian from the West Bank or Gaza Strip via marriage. The law does allow children from such marriages to live in Israel until age 12, at which age they are required to emigrate.

    This is an Apartheid law.

  • @dyl11ans

What the?? Any state that doesn't give citizenship to anyone that wants is an apartheid state?? The law by the way is not only for Gaza, Judea & Samaria, but also for Lebanon, Syria, Iraq & Iran. Cause they are enemy states, they don't want anyone from an enemy state to receive citizenship this is crazy. Apartheid was btw against its own citizens that didn't have the same rights. Israeli arabs have the same rights.

  • @charlesdarwin55

Hey don't take my word for it. Take the word of Shulamit Aloni, the former Education Minister of Israel.

Indeed, Apartheid does exist here. . Every town and every village has turned into a detention centre and that every entry and every exit has been closed, cutting it off from arterial traffic. If it were not enough that Palestinians are not allowed to travel on the roads paved 'for Jews only', on their land".

  • In a 2007 report, United Nations Special Rapporteur for Palestine John Dugard stated that "elements of the Israeli occupation constitute forms of colonialism and of apartheid, which are contrary to international law" and suggested that the "legal consequences of a prolonged occupation with features of colonialism and apartheid" be put to the International Court of Justice. Zionist Israel is Apartheid

  • @dyl11ans

What because some d-bag says so??? This is your proof?? Just cause someone says something somewhere doesn't make it so.

If you think Israel is apartheid you are diminishing what the south africans had to experience during apartheid. This makes you an apartheid denier & racist against blacks & jews.

  • Ian Anderson is now the unofficial propaganda minister for Israel. His decision to not only play in Tel Aviv but to endorse the Israeli occupation makes him complicit in the war crimes of Apartheid Israel. Shame on you Anderson. May the screams of Gaza's children haunt your dreams forever.

  • @dyl11ans Oh man I always liked him he's a genius, but now I freekkin love him!!! Apartheid?? Apartheid is 3 arab parties in the knesset?? An arab acting president in Israel?? It's an insult to Israel and an Insult to the victims of apartheid to say such a thing.

  • Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The crime of apartheid was included as a crime against humanity, and encompassed inhumane acts such as, forcible transfer, imprisonment, or persecution of a group on political, racial, national, ethnic, cultural, or religious, grounds, "committed by an institutionalized regime of oppression by one racial group over any racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime. Israel is Guilty of all the above

  • @dyl11ans

what no it certanly isn't, prove it. Israel isn't guilty of any of the above.

  • Que tipo tan descarao es este, jajajajajaja

  • Oustanding!

  • When he came to Greece, I watch him for my really first time. Now i am stuck on his songs...

  • I'm watching this video with my daughter who is only 4 years old and we like it very much!!

  • Rock Flute... Only Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull. A classic superbly revisited.

  • ANDERSON&ZAPPA GODS OF MUSIC

  • @MichaelRibes then you never heard the hungaryan guy, torok adam es a mini......

  • What a STAR! Nuff said.

  • Its amazing how he can mix rock with classical music and other styles, it really shows how good he is.

    Great song :)

  • That's Ann Marie Calhoun!

  • semplicemente da brivido!

  • its fine. but not compare to the 70's ian anderson

  • It would be great if Ann-Marie had played some part of the song. she had an unique oportunity to be playing a Living Legend. I recomend to watch the videos of Jetho Tull with Lucia Micarelli. I`m sure you'll enjoy. Bravo for Jethro Tull. I am a old fan, from their first album. I say hello from Venezuela

  • I almost doubted that was Ian Anderson at first, until he started playing the flute.

  • Monday i'm going to play this song in a contest. Wish me luck.

  • it`s great!!

  • Ian sure knows how to put on a show and fire up the fans.

  • Togliamoci il cappello di fronte a Ian. Grandissimo!!!!

  • @Dariuccio55 Ian è un genio!!!!!!!!!! L' unico capace di mantenere un contegno da musicista rock suonando il flauto!

  • I love Ian and all Tull music

  • Jethro Tull is one of the greatest bands of all times. I have the opportunity of see a concert of Ian Anderson in Málaga a few years ago. It was wonderfull to be able to enjoy of Ian Anderson and Martin Barre.

    Greetings from Spain!

  • Grane IAN Anderson, trovami uno chue suona come lui!!! chitarra, fiati, basso etc....

  • 7 frets, you are still bonkers

  • Have loved this music for so long .... so good to find it here. Taught it to myself by ear off his LP when I was about 15!

  • Non è Ian ke a fatto il patto con Mefistofele, é mefistofele ke l' a fatto con Ian per sentire fluire le note del suo flauto inkantato.

  • still moving, still gripping

  • Which brand of flute does he play?!

  • skin flute

  • very helpful

  • yeaaaa i'm italian i speak english yeaa good song

  • Szuper dal! Köszi!

  • the juglar of rock only the best

  • Madness! I JUST LOVE IT!

  • Israel isn't an "apartheid state". If people will stop believing like blinds to what they hear on TV or somewhere else, maybe they'll start to understand what's going on there and how complicated it is.

  • I love Jethro Tull and love this song...... but a real shame Ian didn't have the political nowse (or maybe he didn't care which is worrying) to have avoided playing in this apartheid state. I bet he didn't play in the West Bank

  • Wonderfull!! My father listen to that band, now i understand why! By the way i was born at 1980! No cover would reach the orginal!!!!

    Killa-flute!!!! Wonderfull!!!!

  • i love how the crowd start cheering before he's even gotten the artist's name out of his mouth

    5 stars

  • i was there in the 1st row, no less!!!

    amazing concert, to be sure

  • Lucky!

  • the string arrangements were a pretty good idea for the live performance! just when I thought the studio version couldn't get any better!

  • very very good... I love this song ... and jethro too!

  • he makes playing the flute look cool :D

  • Ian sei sempre un mito!!!!
