the ambulance MAY not have been clearing the traffic - it may have been called to a job, and then been cancelled. but clearing traffic seems the most obvious explanation.
thats the most dangerous thing to do ever!!!! When the ambulance hit the lights with all blazing the traffic watch the ambulance pass by, right? Then if the lights change to green traffic will go thinking the noise is from the ambulance which has passed and gone and instead there's a police car still on its way. I did green light driving for years for doctor medics etc and we were warned about more than one lot of 2 tones and how at junctions take extra time as its difficult to hear x2 tones!
@1alexwhittle1 This sort of thing happens often in London amongst different emergency services. At the end of the day, we're doing a similar job after all. Just thought you'd know. :-)
I've seen this before in Worthing but the other way round. An Ambulance was stuck in traffic so the cops infront fired up the blues 'n' 2's and helped clear the traffic. After the ambulance passed the Police turned off the lights and sirens. I wish I had got a vid of it.

I think the likelyhood is the LAS vehicle was on a shout and stood down and the MET vehicle was on a different shout and was pure coincidence them being in the same area.
As ambulance staff aren't normally in the business of escorting the police. If an accident had of happened and the ambulance crew wern't assigned to a job and had lights on, they would be for the high jump in reality.
Firstly, the strobe beacons that the Met Police use are brilliant, especially at night. They are small and can be placed on and removed from the roof with one hand very easily, that's why they use them. If anyone is interested in them or the sirens that the service uses we supply them - just send us a message. Secondly, this is one of the Met's new unmarked dog section cars. They have chosen the VW Passat estate because of it's size and pulling power. They can carry up to 2 dogs and two handlers
i think the lights are terrible!!! not bad a night but to slow to flash and cant see them in the daylight, im not blaming the light so much its just its to small and for the less covert cars they need something better, the met are gettin rid of those lights anyway at the moment
Yeah, the LED strobes are being scrapped (probably due to the flash and possibly causing seizures). You'll begin to see a more "steady" flash in the next year or so. Te new ones look like toy cars though...
fantastic vid! great action from the ambulance crew.

I see this alot in lancashire too. Plus where ever possible, I will always cover a junction or roundabout for a vehicle on a blue light run.

Wow, I have never seen that before!
Good on the ambulance crew, its easier for them to get through because of all the livery and how big it is lol.
Nice video, right place at the right time.

It's always been the police clear the way for the ambulance, and now it's opposite.

the small strobe that the met use for the roof on these unmarked cars are rubbish though, there are better ones.
good to see teamwork as always between the services.
