what is your musicoly study? you was in the boroque period for say this. No this is only your opinion. and then you need to buy some cd with harnocourt, koopman and others for know more well and correct your bad musical preparation.
@Baccalaureus79 What on earth can make German understandable? One month attempting to learn the rudiments did not permit my creating a single sentence.
@P1B1U1H1 Well... 100 million speakers tell a different story. However: German is a language that's hard to learn, because both verbs and nouns are inflected (in opposite to English). But once you have the rang of it, you'll find out that there are very little exceptions (to the, like, 10000 rules, that is).As for your personal efforts: You can't expect to learn a language within a month's time. After four weeks of English in 5th grade at school, all I could say was "Hello, my name is Bacca"
@Baccalaureus79 French enables you to speak phrases and even pick up girls within an hour. Mark Twain had much to say about German; his ten suggestions for its reformation should be seriously considered, especially number five, viz: I would do away with those great long compounded words; or require the speaker to deliver them in sections, with intermissions for refreshments.
@Baccalaureus79 At least they're trying to speak German. You should be thankful for the effort instead of being critical. I'm sure I can find problems with your English if I were to be of a critical disposition.
@vlnvlaclogbaerhpno Who would ever get better if their mistakes go unheeded?
I've come up with the theory that Germans, in a dialogue with a non-German, prefer their switching to the foreign language over hearing German torn to pieces. This way, they give the other side the choice to correct them and don't have to correct the other one themselves as this might be taken offensive - as it obviously does.
@Baccalaureus79 Are you sure that you speak for all Germans in saying that you all/they all prefer to speak in the non-German language? Even if the majority of the German-speaking population might be inclined to this approach, you can't take this approach with everyone you come across who is trying to learn German, a very (unnecessarily) difficult language or most people, or you will most definitely end up offending people and scaring them into not speaking German at all. Is that your aim?
@vlnvlaclogbaerhpno Well, I do not speak for ALL Germans. I just recount what I have observed so far. And as for your corrections: Thank you ever so much. This "few/little" thing is really difficult for me, the other one is obviously a typo.

Dieses Sopran hat eine erstaunliche Stimme.
I have been to seven opera at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and no soprano sounds as good as this.
Ich bin zu Oper sieben am Metropolitan Opera in New York und an keinen sopran Tönen gewesen, die so gut sind wie

Please, don't use the babelfish or other automatic translations... the outcome is always terrible.
Your phrase in German:
"Ich war bei "seven Opera" an der Met in New York, und kein Sopran klingt so gut wie sie."

@Baccalaureus79 1) It's once you have the 'hang' of it, not 'rang' of it.
2) 'Very few,' not 'very little.'

This is a great interpreation, young and has such a nice voice.
What people talking about that Soprano Chistine Schäfer, she sings good, better than Maradonna or Britney Spears.

She most certainly sings better than Maradona, who is not really famous for his voice. But would she play soccer as well as he does?
