  • How dare u polo-wearing bastards come to the Memphis Tigers city and do this. Surprised you werent shot. Dont come back to Memphis, unless you support the Tigers.

  • This song was always a tradition played at football games until the "outsiders" came in and started the process of changing what this university holds true to its history..you can take away songs and symbols but you can take away the history and tradition of this wonderful university. The students/alumni were left out of the decision making process of change. I hope that ole miss will finally stand up for its heritage and be proud to say, "WE ARE OLE MISS, FROM DIXIE WITH LOVE".....

  • they made them quit playing this song due to it being "racist" mfw the black guy in the vid was bobbing his head to it.didnt seem to bother him.

  • The reason I hate yanks. Stay in the north and out of our tradition. You wanna come down because we have less taxes and are kinder loving people also because we have jobs fine but don't call our accents stupid, try to tell us what is right and wrong, and get ride of our proud tradition in the confederacy and state! CSA To Arms in Dixie y'all.

  • Its just sad what yankees have done to this college

  • Let the band play Dixie

  • Why does the South celebrate losing? Sherman is still beating the tar out of you in your minds.

  • @Wood97son Well, you would have to be blessed to live way down here in the south to understand why we love where we live...There is NO PLACE like HOME...Come see for your self and we will treat you as our own :)

  • Really people this is not racist or has nothing to do with that its a TRADITION and u can even see black ppl movin to the beat of it its a great tradition

  • @14HottyToddy I can see two. And they look more nervous than happy.

  • no one is offended, only white liberal lawyers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that get their nose everywhere

  • @g30law061 i am a LIBERAL, am a JEW, was born on frosty morn, and i LOVE this song! we sang it in our school in Chicago when i was 10! You folks let the kkk hijack your symbols and lives and it's high time that you tell the kkk and nazis to get the hell out and take back Your sysmbols and music! anyone who knows anything about the War knows that the C.S.A. had all races and the U.S.A was primarily Irish and German. 12,000 JEWS in the C.S.A! every band should play DIXIE, the Boston Pops did.

  • I would love to have this song as the National Anthem.. Could you imagine 70,000 Americans singing this at a world cup or something

  • CSA Forever....NO ONE outside of the South would understand.....

  • This is beautiful (and I'm a northener)

  • theres a black dude nodin his head to the song so its obviously not offensive

  • @Rolltidecdl Its the point of the ignorant fans chanting... Imlove the song just as much as anyone, but the chant had to stop

  • As an LSU fan I think it sucks ass that Dixie was taken away from Ole Miss, my highschool's mascot is the rebel and we still play dixie, I dread the day we have to get rid of it.

  • Dixie with love is part of the baptist church here in Brazil, one hundred years after the Southern Baptist Convention came here, so don't you dare to forbid, don't you dare, commies!

  • I live in New Jersey. It's alright. Been to the South (the Deep South). I have been to Alabama, Missississpi, Texas, and Alabama. I love it times infinity compared to New Jersey. It is much more traditional down here and that's what I like. People are real nice too. The culture is what really makes the South what it is. It shall never die!! I hope to one day go to college down south (maybe Ole Miss), and live down here. The South is one of my favorite places. I'm 15 by the way.

  • @IHATEPRUANE2FOREVER1 Correction: Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas

  • I played football for the Rebels in the 70's and not being from Mississippi, I went there for the tradition, the battleflag, and the beautiful song "Dixie". Now the PC idiots in Oxford have succumbed to racist pressure to give up all of the tradition that was "Ole Miss"I will not support a school with no moral fibre. If Colonel Rebel, "Dixie", the red, blue, and grey offend you or yours, then please lose the "Ole Miss" moniker. This term was used to refer to the matriarch of the plantation.

  • @MrRebel74 T

Thank God. The more the University of Mississippi distances itself from grown adults who care so much about the Confederate flag and a fucking mascot, the better off it will be. Please. Go.

  • @bosoxfan90

Are you an alumnus of Ole Miss? Do your homework about our tradition, and yes there was serious racial difficulties in the 60's, but ii played with the first black athletes in Oxford and continue our friendships today. Ben Williams was the first Black Colonel Rebel, and he loves the fight song Dixie as much as I do. I am supporting tradition not division.

  • @MrRebel74

I go to Ole Miss. I understand her history and tradition. I have no problem with Colonel Reb or Dixie (which is still played), but I understand the necessity of their removal. Refusing to support a University and its overall endeavors because it got rid of a costumed character and a widely-perceived racist battle flag is a little ridiculous. If symbols and traditions like these are what make Ole Miss special for you, then you have some misplaced priorities.

  • @bosoxfan90 I understand the rebel flag, and my perspective is quite differnt from yours. I do not have misplaced priorities, but the gross misrepresentation as a result of the forced misery of Reconstruction and the politically correct environment of today slams anything that refers th to the southern experience. I wrote my thesis on the ex-Mississippi slaves who fought for the Northen army and am currently writhg a novel on the civil war in Mississippi with both a Black and white protagonists

  • @bosoxfan90 If you don't like the South or are traditions and LOVE for our Confederate Heroes you can nuzzle my REBEL SCHMECKLE!

    The Citadel '90

    'Ole Miss '96

  • none of that should be removed. im an ole miss grad and you need a backbone

  • @MrRebel74

Bosoxfan I do not mean to offend you by my posts (many of the posts on this stream are offensive to both of us), however, to better understand my prospective, please google the following:"Confederate History:Dispelling the myth"s and "The Truth about the Confederate Flags"I DO respect your views as I hope you do mine. Thanks

  • @bosoxfan90

You know, it's not like the Union welcomed black people with open arms. I mean, it only took a reunited United States until the 1970's to start integrating blacks into society fully, and even today it hasn't happened. Killing symbols doesn't solve problems with racism. Getting rid of the swastika in Germany hasn't stopped neo-Nazis from popping up (and they have the gall to use flags from the Imperial Era the fucking assholes).

  • @bosoxfan90

Since America is so obsessed with its racism issues, let's call out radical blacks like Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright. You do not solve racism and "heal wounds" with hypocrisy and a blatant misrepresentation of history, presented in strict black and white, right and wrong terms. That's just a recipe for more tension in society. Political Correctness, by the way, is in fact racist and derogitory to the people they supposedly protect and represent.

  • They should totally drop the battle hymn and just play Dixie, and where's the Battleflag?

  • Rebel Black Bears...LMAO..the SEC needed someone to make fun of!

  • ole miss is a tradition and it will always be. No one will ever take that away... LET'S GO REBS!!

  • This was great until they started to play the Battle Hymn of the Republic. I don't think most people understand the meaning of the words to that song. Ole Miss just needs to stick to its Southern roots and pride and forget what anyone outside of Ole Miss and Dixie thinks or says. God Save the South!

  • fuck all those politically correct assholes. We need back dixie and colonel reb!!!!!! The south will rise again!!!!!!

  • Gotta love them black bears.....LMAO.

  • If I'm hearing it right, this mixes Dixie with the north's Battle Hymn of the Republic very well, ending with notes from the Battle Hymn.

There's a lot of meaning in this song.

  • I don't understand why people would get so offended by a song and a mascot. They are part of tradition, and how can someone change tradition? It really pisses me off that there are so many sensitive people in the world today. LONG LIVE THE SOUTH!

  • @txdemon666 There are a lot of sensitive people but the old traditions mess up recruiting and really give other SEC schools an opportunity to sling mud and divert potential players.

  • @lettheclubdothework any player that would leave over the playing of this song, is not worth having.

  • @Min1161 Are you open to debating that opinion?

  • @lettheclubdothework Nothing to debate, simply my opinion.

  • @Min1161 Your honesty is refreshing. My heart goes out to that place, hope they can pull it together.

  • I'm from Illinois and this is the most beautiful song I've ever heard played at any school.

  • Dose not sound like Dixie realy.

  • @sporeman2678 its called "From Dixie with Love" or "Slow Dixie"

  • I grew up hearing Ole Miss play this..

When they took it away it was pretty sad.

    Theres nothing racist about art.

  • @westygw Seems Ole Miss has a new version of this song they are playing now its no as good as this version tho.. Sucks that Mr Jones has to ruin Ole Miss..

  • @westygw weve got it back now. they sort of traded colonel rebel for from dixie with love. theyve played it the last two games at home.

  • @southerngal3355 did they pick a new mascot yet?

  • @cowboyslonghornsfan not yet. its down to the landshark, the bear, and hotty toddy. honestly i dont think we should have any mascot except the colonel.

  • @southerngal3355 I agree! See nothing wrong with colonel reb. I think he's great! I'm a future rebel myself and idk about the land shark but the bear could work and I guess hotty and toddy could work depending on how they go about it

  • @cowboyslonghornsfan cool glad u choosing ole miss. its a great school im a junior in high school and i could go there but i probably wont ive got too many other options. i dont like the landshark because the picture of it looks like a freaking lizard, the bear really doesnt make sense and i agree about hotty toddy. i think if they choose hotty toddy it will eventually take on a resemblance to colonel reb.

  • @cowboyslonghornsfan the mascot is the black bear. im not happy because that could also be seen as racist (i dont mean for this to sound racist but its what i think). the whole point of gettin a new mascot was because the colonel was deemed racist by some and now they go and get a new mascot that has the word black in its name. why couldnt have been a brown bear or a polar bear. why did it have to be black. i dont understand it.

  • @southerngal3355 Ya I agree, I read that if there isn't enough satisfaction with the new mascot that it's possible that ole miss could get colonel reb back. Honestly I don't see how colonel reb is offensive. How can the new York Yankees be ok as a team name but ole miss merely has a mascot that is a well dressed white man? How is that offensive? Everything is getting so out of hand with political correct terms and I'm sick of it. People need to grow up and stop being babies

  • @cowboyslonghornsfan its not offensive. and i dont see why people have to ruin something that wasnt harming anybody. its not like colonel reb was going out killing african-americans. hes just a mascot. im like you i hate politically correct people. colonel reb is a symbol of ole miss an icon if you will. you know what is funny, unless you were a student, faculty member or a season ticket holder to any ole miss sports events, you couldnt vote on the new mascot. now where is that fair?

  • @southerngal3355, i think a lot of people would agree with you but the colonel potentially killed recruiting.

  • @lettheclubdothework i dont think it realy did. weve still gotten some pretty good players in. the rebels just need to work together as a team.

  • The Civil War happened. History is history, and it shouldn't be forgotten regardless of who was right and who was wrong. It is an absolute abomination that this Dixie isn't allowed to be played at the University of Ole Miss fooball games. It's okay to build a mosque on Ground Zero, but those who want to remember just how far we have come as a country are made to feel like they are somehow racist. Pisses me off, and I hate Ole Miss.

  • go back to ur redneck country tigars own beale street!!!!!!

  • Beautiful

  • nah we got a black coach now! haha in larry we trust, well yall are too scared to play us anymore...

  • Memphis owns Beale St. Stay the hell off of it u dirty rebels! WE DA TIGERS!

  • LOL Ya'll's football team always sucks lol

  • @mwkknighthawk

is that why we have beat yall two years running lol

  • Memphis State didn't own Beale Street that day, nor did you own the Liberty Bowl.

  • It's not about stomping free speech! It's about slowly disolving the spirit of a free people. By making them feel ashamed, or embarassed by speaking there mind. I saw what I want, and I don't appologize for it. I don't make to many friends that way, but who needs friends like that anyway? People need to start growing a sack, and stand up to the PC mindset

  • Emailed the dean (do google search) about removing Dixie, HE DIDN'T RESPOND! COWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Emailed a "Big" ole miss fan at foxnews about Dixie, and he didn't have the guts to respond! COWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @onestop9 Probably didn't have the time to deal w/ a youtube underling, had more impt things to worry about, like what's going on in Iran, and the oil crisis

  • I think the folk's who live in the South are much better off for having an identity they relate to. Living in the North is just being a number . The South treats you as family. The North kinds of turns their back to you. I have relatives in Louisiana and envy the spirit of family and friends.

  • @crewchief100 Agree, that is how most of the North is. There are some areas that are ok but for the most part you are correct. That is another point I was kinda getting at in my comment below :)

  • @crewchief100 I spent time last summer in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. Phenomenal people for the most part. Very kind. The downside? These were some of the most abjectly poor places I'd ever seen.

  • Dixie isn't about hatred!Just because some people with pointed hats run around and preach hate doesn't mean they represent all of Dixie. The South is a culture in which white and black share. Dixie is about good values, common cultural beliefs, common foods, ancestral roots, etc. White, Black, etc. can and do share all of these. Let me say now I am a proud Southerner and I love anyone if they are a good person, whether they are white, black, Latin American, etc. Every race has good and bad people

  • who cares the blacks sings it with us

  • Horrah for Dixie! Horrah for the good morals of the south as a whole. Go Rebs!

  • Bring back From Dixie with Love, Chancellor Jones.

  • dixie or die.. bring back from dixie with love..HOTTY TODDY!!!

  • From Dixie with Pride will never be forgotten, The South will rise again.

  • It's freaking people like you that we aren't allowed to play it anymore. Do you have any idea how much money the band has lost due to law suits because of you ignorant people?

  • Weird, What are you talking about? Are you talking about my first amendment right of freedom of speech. I Hope, Jones, the University and the Band are sued. If we are truly free in this corrupt federation of states, we would be free as individuals to want the South to Rise again. I personally want Mississippi out of the Corruption of Washington D. C.

I also respect your opinion to disagree, the principle that keeps us free. Stand up at your school for the Constitution, not P. C. officials.

  • You all need to think about this for a little while. The southern roots and confederate insinuations are not the reason that Dixie is no longer allowed to be played at Ole Miss. Its the fact that fans feel the need to yell "the south will rise again" every time the song is played. I have nothing against southern heritage, as I am an Ole Miss fan myself. However, when you are trying to promote the university's image on a more national level, things like this don't look good.

  • I went to an Ole Miss game about two weeks ago, and they played dixie!

  • The can still play Dixie just not from Dixie With Love (combination of Dixie and the Battle Hymn of the Republic)

  • Not an Ole Miss fan, but what you said is complete fucking garbage. Who cares what the rest of the country thinks about Ole Miss or the rest of the SEC. They all know they cant compete with the SEC.

  • @cte723 IMHO the Spirit of Ole Miss died in 1984. Since the UM Admin is so ashamed of Ole Miss why not simplify things and change your name to whatever else along with Dixie. Political Correctness has won at UM. Ole Miss is no more.

  • @cte723 Why? Black nationalism is fine. No one says a word if obamas czars preach the end of white society. Something as harmless as the south will rise again seems a trivial thing to get upset about. I think people are offended far to easily.

  • FUCK JONES piece of shit

  • The image of the Confederate battle flag has been destroyed by hate groups, I truly believe that everyone from the South(white and black) should stand together and defend our Southern Heritage. (back to the band playing Dixie at Ole Miss football games, come on people it is just a song. A song that many of us are still proud of. Sounds to me like more divisive people trying to make something out of nothing and let me be blunt, this is the real reason we can not get along in America.)

  • exactly

  • THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN chant it at every home game until they bring this song back!

  • This isn't Dixie, its From Dixie With Love, a PC corruption of Dixie designed by OM in the 80s to move the school away from playing Dixie. Strangely, the real Dixie remains, while the perversion is gone. :)

Its sad how many people think this is actually Dixie. There are about 5 mislabeled videos on youtube that are all actually FDWL. Pathetic New Miss fans don't even know the real thing from the imposter.

  • check out the guy in the blue shirt in the bottom corner of the screen at 0:56...he seems to be enjoying the song...yea dan jones... from dixie with love is racist. HOTTY TODDY.... FIRE JONES!!!

  • at the lsu game everyone should just start chanting the south will rise again and show jones he can take away the best song in the south IN THE WORLD BUT NOT THE OLE MISS TRADITION

  • @duhs8878 That would really hurt the University.

  • Sure are a lot of honkies in this video.

  • FUCK U JONES THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN

  • Thanks for the support everyone! I'm on drumline, and we hope you enjoy our shows this year! Come out and support your Rebs!

  • Dude come on, he looked liked he was enjoying the band. What a ridiculous comment that you made.

  • Comment removed

  • The sad things is these "great fans" don't even know the words...And that THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN??/ From what? From where? Rise above what?

  • You seriously took the time to watch a video you didnt like and comment on it? And everyone else are retards huh.

  • @dustyflair the south will rise again from the social and economic disparancy that has been placed on it ever since the 1860's... the war of northern aggression never ended, it's just economic now. I assure you, the Army Corp of Engineers would have built the New Orleans levee system better if they were in boston

  • Dixie in Memfrica.....LOVE IT......HOTTY TODDY!!!!

  • i really liked how they played dixie really fast. it sounds great.

  • yea we do it that way so we can get on out of town before a riot starts

  • Love those Reb's!! Would have loved to be there, but I'll be right behind the bench at the South Carolina game!

  • OUTSTANDING!!! Go Rebs.
