  • Just a question: Do you ever go on geekfeminism? I think you'd be interested in some of the things written there.

  • @Meowmixxxx :U I have not yet. I shall check it out.

  • @Quelaag It's a great site. It's a dot org but it didn't let my post the URL last time >.>. You should check out the article titled " “Geek girls” and the problem of self-objectification", it's really good. I wouldn't consider myself a full 3rd wave fem (and some feminists would reject that I could be a feminist), but I'd definitely consider myself "allied", and quite frankly, I haven't seen anyone give a real defense of feminism in games, so I was excited to see this video :)

  • @Meowmixxxx Rereading this, that shouldn't read "defense of feminism in games", because there's a lack of it. Rather, it's more of a feminist viewpoint on games. Mea Culpa.

  • @Quelaag all right then, I'll keep track of your vids for a while then. See if I can discuss you some stuff. I'm an engineer from Spain, btw. Not an expert on anything like gaming sociology or anything much. But I enjoy culture. see ya. :)

  • Why is there xxx Porn and hot ass sex sex porn fucked anal hardcore videos in suggestions?

    Hmmm??

  • @gMemo92 TEE HEE ;)

  • @Quelaag I wonder if I should subscribe to your vids. I really like your thoughts and the fact that you want to "go deeper" even in something as vain as stories in (most) games. I would like to ask you to give some more info about yourself. Like what you study or if you have a kind of "the topic of your videos". What should I expect from you? Just interesting talk about games and their story? Are you looking for something specific in your video Arc? Dang, I'm out of space. We can talk more later

  • @kinifurito Honestly I have no idea myself. It started as a Dark Souls series then it kind of got weird and off topic. :U

  • first of all, i would like 2 thank u 4 making this well organized vid and u made a good point

and may i say, ur 1 of the few girls on the internet who r actually talking abt something

well, no offense but i've seen so many vids presented by women and usually they r just...idk how 2 say it properly...presenting themselves and they usually talk abt bla bla bla

so...u have certainly earned my respect and i hope u keep up the good work

oh 1 last thing......is ur dog 4 sale???? hhhhh

  • @hefhef54321 No

  • @Quelaag .....ok

i have a cat, they probably wouldn't have gotten along anyway

  • @quelaag I really value your presentation of this media effect. You have a very organized framework for your videos and it provides a comfortable setting for building up on the social ramifications of our experiences (usually a touchy topic to many people). I feel that I don't personally go out of my way to accommodate social norms or operate on many media driven stereotypes, but I really liked this video. You speak some good truth!

  • @FoulFox Thank you!

  • My reproductive organs brought me here. B)

  • @VincentVanBro1 Ho ho ho

  • I love huskys <3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your dog is awesome

  • I understand and take you seriously. Nice dog. Can i have him ? I have a small dog (high pitch bark. very annoying) But hes cool

  • @Baller527 :) No no no.

  • This is definitely true. The media has a huge part in people's opinion and perspective on the world. Im all for a Female getting as many rights as a male, but if a Female begins to use feminism to get an advantage over others in a business scenario ( for ex.), thats just wrong.

  • @UFCvsPRIDEfc09 You can say that about any movement, religion, philosophy, blahblahblah. People will always use anything for their own devices or agendas. Nothing anyone can do about that unfortunately.

  • I agree that marriage is horrible for some people, but I believe that when two people decide to spend their entire life together it can be one of the most beautiful relationships in your life. but people need to understand that it's an equal partnership. the couple has to work together to build a life with one another. It really is a unity of two people. People just do it too willy nilly haha. It's a MASSIVE commitment that a lot of people do because they think that's what they're supposed to do

  • @Josiah2634 Yep. I know. Which is why I said that. But like I stated below, there is biology behind why it can be an issue with most people. Mainly due to survival mechanisms and hormones we secrete during sexual intercourse etc.

  • Also what are your thoughts on the whole "Brazilian Wax" craze? Is it pandering to the opposite sex or even an infantilization of women as a means of control? Or is it a liberation of female sexuality?

  • @Ombrenuit Depends on the intention of the person who gets one. This is where feminism becomes touchy. Many females wear make up, get bikini waxes, or wear certain clothing because it makes them feel confident about themselves. But there's a fine line between feeling good about yourself because others praise you (therefore making this behavior reinforcing) and doing it because its aesthetically pleasing to you. Personally, I love shaving my legs because I like how they feel after ->>

  • @Ombrenuit I like wearing makeup because I like the smooth or flawless look it can give me (although I never wear make up in my videos because I don't really care too much to shower and put shit on when I just wake up - which is usually when I make these hahaha). A man can feel this way too. I know many transgendes who are heterosexual who just like feeling beautiful or having smooth skin.

  • @Ombrenuit OH - and "aesthetically pleasing / beauty" is also touchy as well as we are influenced by society with fetishes and whatnot. But this is where it becomes a slippery slope. I think (idealistically of course) people should educate themselves about fetishes and why we have certain things in our society - then pick and choose what they agree or dsagree with. Everyone has personal preferences and fantasies. So meh.

  • 3:39 Didn't men invent marriage as a way to control women's reproduction, her access to partners, and generally, control her? All the while not being tied nearly as tightly to their promises as their female counterparts. Just an observation.

  • @Ombrenuit Haha, not necessarily. Marriage has a strange history (especially depending on which culture you come from). In tribes or bands, one man would have many wives in order to ensure population - it makes more sense to have 1 man have offspring with several different women than one woman with several different men (due to the 9 month period of conception etc etc). It was for the society - not for man being selfish. Bonobos, our closest relative, have sex as a social normality ->>

  • @Ombrenuit During sex males produce a hormone called Oxytocin. This hormone actually makes the male "trust" the people he has sex with more. So it makes sense that people get upset when their partners engage in this behavior with other people - as its no longer a personal or "private" interaction. Regardless, men also have a drive to reproduce and "spread' their lineage to ensure survival within that species. :O So they also become conflicted. Its kind of bleh. Society is weird.

  • @Ombrenuit In short, marriage just makes me want to laugh, pat the head of the guy who thought it was a good idea, and shrug my shoulders. You know? Its out of everyone's control and has too many internal conflicts. It would also take too long for society to reform to make any positive changes.

  • @Quelaag I know a lot of women who wouldn't be okay with a guy sleeping around, even if that's what a lot of guys instinctively want to do. I think women can be just as possessive about their partners.

That said I do agree that marriage does have a great deal of internal conflicts for men and I can only speak on that because I'm both male and married. I also agree that society has very few reasons left for marriage.

  • @Ombrenuit I smirk at other twenty somethings that get married and act like I'm in their "club" - a pretty lonely one considering that single people generally don't want to hang out with married couples! I got married to help my then fiance immigrate to the US because otherwise we simply wouldn't be able to be together period. But I don't see why absent of pressing reasons, so many of my classmates are tying the knot so young.

  • wny....? are you so awesome?! hahaha great topic...i got led to this vid after watching your dark souls one...i just float around youtube. I have the same sorta views and shite one human society .... although i AM a guy ... it gets tiring just when devs and media use sex appeal to their advantage...but if it works...they will use it ... it's super effective.

    101 exp gained.

  • @wendysnailland Yeah dude. :U Sex is cool. We need sexy ladies and sexy men. But its cringe worthy when devs / artists break story continuity to pander to someone's sexual fantasies.

  • Nice to see Sif doing a cameo in your video.

  • Because I couldn't fit it in the previous comment; thanks for making the video! It'd be awesome if you could continue making videos like this in future. It's a really interesting subject that doesn't seem to be touched on much these days.

  • Wow, you've hit the nail on the head for pretty much everything (and worded it better than I ever could!)

For the record, while the previous video mostly went onto the subject of good female video game characters, it was still super interesting and mimics my views on good female characters in gaming. I'd personally add characters like Alyx Vance from HL2, Jade from BG&E and The Boss from MGS3 (despite that final scene).

Regarding "gamer girls," spot-on too. Couldn't agree more on everything.

  • @PPGAKadajiroth fosho. But as you can see - I hardly had enough time in this one to cover.. what.. 4 characters? xD

  • @PPGAKadajiroth OH! And check out the interview I added in the description. :D They mention boss in one of the parts (should have 2-3 parts to it)

  • @Quelaag I saw that a while back! Very good stuff. I wanted to go to PAX this year but moneyyyy. :( So I just ended up watching all of the panels and stuff, and that was one of my favourites.

  • hey quelaag

it's been a while, but i REALLY need your help this time (it's pvp). I am getting REALLY frustrated about Tranquil walk of peace-ers (seriously, up to the point where i just might start hurting people) and i NEED a strategy! my character is a sorcerer because i haven't been using my tank lately, but they're there on both

P.S.: i'm not willing to level my character any more. it's currently unable to cast miracles, and exactly level 90)

    thanks in advance!

    -Lamenotcool

  • @lamenotcool spam great combustion or if you have faith spam force. The patch should be released today to fix TWOP.

  • @Quelaag great combustion, good idea. hadn't thought of that, since i'm a spellcaster. i really, seriously cannot WAIT for the patch, although, i've been running into less of them today. (teaching myself to parry)

some girl.. i mean GAMER, was nice enough to let me try it on her, both for timing's sake and highest damage. the highest i got was with a black knight's greatsword +5 and a hornet ring, hitting WELL over 1400 (i don't remember the number exactly) so yea, not much trouble today.

  • @lamenotcool o_o; You can say girl - or someone who plays games. hahaha.

  • @Quelaag well since i dont know much about how the brain works i was kinda hoping for a basic overview at first :D

  • The problem is that the media paints pictures out of half truths and rumours. The reality of things is largely different how TV, Internet or other news etc. sources show them. Its the easiest way to control trends, behaviour and memes.

This largely means that people who have the tendency to listen to "authority" figures also have the tendency to be manipulated/influenced by the media.

The biggest problem though is peer pressure, no one wants to be different so everyone goes with the trends.

  • @MultiDoorknob Annotating this into video. :)

  • The only thing in my brownies are delicious chopped walnuts thank you very much -:]

  • i think of the term gamergirl as a seperate idea from girls who just play games gamergirls are in my definition dumb girls who try to game for attention and most of the time dont know what there talkin about i have a good friend who is a total gamergirl shes one of the call of duty gamer(which in itself is a bad thing) but she got black ops on release date at a midnight release and still to this very day hasnt touched the single player she just uses it online to play with guy so they like her

  • You can make it through school...just count down the days XD

Anywho you should do a video on talking more about your studies and stuff. I'm kinda interested in hearing more about how the brain works.

  • @guy13257 What part of the brain do you have in mind? Just a generalized over view?

  • Delicious baked good eaten preferably in the chocolate variety :]

  • @TheWavebird Huh? If you're talking about brownies. Yum. If you're talking about weed brownies - what? I don't do drugs. :S

  • Btw....your husky is so cute .

  • @guy13257 :) His name is Kaidan. He's a special needs husky we rescued. Best dog everrrr.

  • @Quelaag

    my dog's better

  • Hmmm I think this serves as a very nice supplement to the first video i would recommend watching it even if you understood the first video p.s Mario saves princess peach for cake :3

  • @TheWavebird "cake". Whatever that means. D;

  • @Quelaag OH Lmao. Sorry. I got a "you sound so stoned" comment on one of my other videos so my brain rage-hiccuped. Cake isn't always chocolate. :0

  • I hear you buddy :/

I dont think i could balance out work and school like you do, much less start to make youtube videos while doing it.

  • @guy13257 Its a miracle I'm not dead yet. ;_;

  • No offence Q, but you seem tired as shit XD

  • @guy13257 You.Have.No.Idea. Its why I haven't been making videos as frequently. School>Work>Study>Stay up either studying more or trying to squeeze every last waking moment to play skyrim/relax that I possiblycan.

  • Lol I cldnt help it I saw the opportunity I took it :)

  • Lol stop commenting first . No one will give you a candy

  • Ohh kool im 1st to comment :D
