Was there anything better than getting up on saturday mornings, eating breakfast while watching saturday morning cartoons and seeing these commercials inbetween? AND!!!!! already knowing that youre going nowhere near your homework until sunday night? God I miss those times. I feel sorry that my kids wont have those experiences.
Gaznugget Really, a lot of the stuff that '80s kids owe and love owe a lot to mainly the Baby Boomers/yuppies that created all their toys/cartoon characters/video games, as that was probably that generations peak creative decade in terms of development. Today's little kids, meanwhile are depending on people my age and only a bit younger. You need to be a good person and inspire the next generation (today's little kids and those being born the next decade or so).
Search TickleMe Plant for the funniest commercial about a plant I have ever seen and now you can grow a real house plant that MoVes and closes its leaves when tickled!
@Jeff98177 I think the brown haired girl in the Superstar Barbie commercial was Jennifer Love Hewitt? Kirsten Dunst in the Baby Suprise commercial and Matthew Lawrence in the Mouse trap commercial, but I could be wrong.

I don't know, I came up in the 80's so obviously I appreciate the combined simplicity and excess of the era. However, romanticizing the past is a guilty pleasure that shouldn't be used to construct boundaries between generations. Today's youth are simply products of their environment, just as we were. I can still remember parents complaining that all we did was play Nintendo & how much more appreciative of past cultures they were at our age. It's an endless cycle I suppose...
@JackOSkull we had an imagination back then, just look about the commercials its about having fun and bonding now kids are just a bunch of zombies playing video games. Im not romanticizing the past I love different eras music, movies etc, but these commericals bring back a peace
@JackOSkull I agree with you %100. But the 80's and 90's still rocked better than any other time. The 60's were lame, the 70's too many hippies and the 2000's would be lame without the internet.
@JackOSkull i totally agree. Yet i still must say, children'd tv nowdays suck. u can learn nothing from it xD i mean, the non-educational ones....-which in the 90s even those had some morals in it ;o

@justinmc16 my 13 year old said the same thing to me and i told her if she spent more time reading books instead of texts you would know how to spell and wouldnt need spell check
Little Miss Dress-up was my little sister's favorite Christmas present that year. I was particularly fond of that doll who had the "growing" hair, and to get it back short again, you had to crank her arm until it started clicking real loud (then keep winding, because, hey, childhood is for testing boundaries).
Is it bad that I actually owned like half the products being advertised in this video. I had all three Lego sets, both micro machine play sets, the drum sticks in the instrument add in the beginning, Mouse Trap, Hungry Hippos, Prince Eric from the happy meal toys. In any case, they don't make them like they used to!
I still own all three of those Lego sets today. Black Monarch's Castle was the best castle design they ever did. And Black Sea's Barracuda (the pirate ship) was also an epic Lego set.
its funny how barney is still trying to take Freds cereal after all these years!! im pretty sure hes already had his wife so Fred should just give him the cereal already.
We still had micromachine toys still around from yardsales in the early 2000s ... times have so changed :( kids are so spoiled and don't appreciate the basic toys from our era!
@straube819 hey i'm eleven and i love toys the only thing electronical i have is my phone and right now i am saving for a michael jackson doll and a popple and a puffalump :) oh! and litllest pet shop i love being and kid
That is so true. One time I got this kid a toy for christmas( or birthday can't remember). It was the toy with the 2 robot looking things (red one and blue one) that beat each other up.
