the JVM is a great amp it covers all bases very well. unless you drop tune very low or have a seven string it is others out their that are better but this amp still brings it.
but anyway i would love to get a custom guitar and i kept coming back to carvin i keep building a custom and its always at $1500. i have played schecter for 5 6 years. they just feel so natral to me. but thats the scary part you know i never pay over a grand for guitars i like, but to pay double and never touch it ?
The Marshall JVM is my favorite amp I've ever had. As a matter of fact, I traded my Mesa Boogie rig for it. I was running the Tri-Axis preamp and the Recto 100/100 power amp. The Mesa was great stuff, they are built like tanks To my ears, it had a real upper midrange that I could not dial out. The JVM ;however, has a TON of gain on tap. I don't run a distortion pedal at all. The rack is just for effects. I use the OD red chanels all the time. It also has a nice clean tone as well.
I did not care for the M22 pickups I had in my V220. I prefer the stock C22 pickups That came in my more recent Carvin custom guitars. I only changed the pickups for fun. I like trying to get other tones. To my ears the Duncan "Distortion" sounds similar to the DiMarzio "Dual Sound/Super Distortion". I think (only my opinion) that the guitar's bodywood will have little effect on tone. Neckwood and pickups make more of difference.
@metalmusiqcrzy To my ears, they do sound similar. The Super Distrtion has a bit more "high end". They have roughly the same output. I'm bassing this off of my memory. I had the Duncan "super" on a different guitar I had years ago. Personally, I much prefer DiMarzio pickups. My favorite are the "tone Zone" in the bridge and the "Air Norton" in the neck spot. Keep in mind all pickups will sound slightly, sometimes greatly different. in different guitars. Thats half the fun! BTW I dig your riffs.
Hey Fletch73, sounding good man. Really nice rock tone you have and smokin' Paul Gilbert chops!. I saw your post on the Carvin forum. I just posted some of my vids there too.
@metalmusiqcrzy The body and neck wood are standard alder. The top is transparent yellow flame maple. The fingerboard is birdseye maple. I'm actually running the Carvin C22b pickup in the bridge and the DiMarzio "Air Norton" in the neck. I have since switched the bridge pickup to a Di Marzio "Dual Sound". Sorry to here about your mixup in your guitar build. I personally have not had a single problem with my four other Carvins. Thank you very much for the compliments regarding my playing.
