They are solo-able, but their Firebreath for me is always a big problem. Until I reduce it's health to about 50%, they can one-hill kill me with it.
If you have better resists then me though, I would say Yes, Mages are definately good against Ancient Wyrms, particularly if you wield a Dragon Slayer Spellbook.
I believe in PvP, the Mage usually has the upper hand if that and the Warrior are... "Maxed out", as such. But for PvM, they are both pretty powerful.
I watched a friend kill a Paragon Balron (Pretty nasty monster) by himself, and he was a Swordsman.
You're pretty safe with either Profession, but I'd say it's faster to skill up a Warrior these days. The financial costs a Mage faces are eased nowadays mind, with LRC Suits and stuff.
are mages good against anceint wyrms? cause u were pretty good with the shadow wyrm
