I've only ever been a casual fan of RHH - I never bought any, but was always willing to listen when it was on.
Now I've gained a new level of respect for the group. What a great way to handle a heckler - without any profanity, and he keeps the crowd on his side.
God Blessed me by letting me hear the "Full Custom Gospel" album in 1994. Since then I have become a disciple of his teaching. If anyone near me tried to heckle the Rev he would get a brusin.
Ain't no big deal, wasn't the first time for Rev. I worked with one of the first drummers they had, he quit "'cause those guys were wasted 24/7". I was thinkin', yeah, so?
Throughout my teenage years I went to numberous Rev shows in the west, it's hard not to get up for a Rev show. In the winter of 95/96 I went to a show of theirs at Club DV8 in downtown Salt Lake. I was a scrawny 18 year old and I stage dived, touched the corner of the stage, was still facing the audience and when I tried to jump back, Rev threw me into the drum kit, then into an amp. Security pulled him off me while he was screaming at me, and they threw me out on the fire escape. True story.
I saw them in Wichita, some guy threw a beer can at the drummer.
Rev says "Alright... the first thing you learn in kindergarten, is that you don't throw stuff. And the first thing you learn in college... is you DON'T WASTE BEER!"
...I remember , prob. in '90 , some jerk yelled during a break , "You guys suck! Play some Country!!!", and Jim goes , "FUCK YOU! WE'RE FROM TEXAS!!! Do you even know what Country IS , or Rockabilly?! Go back to your day job in IOWA !!" (He had on an Iowa jersey.). He beat it out the back door , in a hurry.
what was he saying about the blues in the end?

I'm so sorry this happened at my hometown... at least the majority of the crowd were supportive of him.
