Mining stocks, as well as metals prices in general, (caved) collapsed on 23 September 2011. Buying mining stocks after this commentary created an instant loss for the buyer; now we watch, to see if GLD and SLV actually implode..?

Markets top when there are no more buyers, markets bottom when there are no more sellers. Gold has no buyers; stock market activity of the same week suggests that sellers of paper issues have run their course (no more sellers) now that the banks own most of the market.
