Hey BBQ brothers, love your videos. Say I've already bought a kettle grill but I don't have anything else, about how much would you say a nice setup would be all together? I had an Old Hickory blade but a friend forgot to wash if after he grilled so the blade turned black, had to toss it.
@cfh2558 ....all ya need for your Pit is that kettle grill, a spatula, tongs, 10 inch black iron fry pan, and a baking pan and you're good to go..! You should have kept your 'ol Hickory. Some steel wool would have cleaned up that carbon steel blade real easy.
@BarbecueWeb The wooden handle was "soggy" and kinda started to fall apart in my hand. Figured it was time to lay Old Hick to rest and order a set of his brothers.
What's up with all the people whining about the adds? Do they thing everything is free?...go back to tv / not cable and bitch about 10minutes of add for every half hour show.... ignorant people I suppose. On a good note...Another great show BBQ PIT BOYS!
I sure would like to see how you guys sharpen your Old Hickory. I just cant seem to get mine as sharp as when I bought it. I have a combination sanding stone 250/1000 grit, should try a higher grit stone?
I would look out for a Buck washita stone for real fine honing, and a diamond grinder for cold grinding. Too much heat will de-temper the blade, so take care.
dont even start that propane vs charcoal debate :)
but seriously, you can burn chicken on either.
Although I really liked my coal burner, I like my nice shiney easy to light, easy to maintain heat, propane grill. and i can smoke on it too. Just turn a burner down low and put a chipbox in there.
Geez, that's a whole shed right there! Great to listen to you again with some great descriptions.
Now, I think you really do need a name, and probably best your BBQ pals should give you a pseudonym rather than asking the YT audience. because I think that would end in tears :-)
Regardless, you sir (and the 'production crew') are way cool!
Hey guys, we were gonna do a video very similar to this one over the weekend... Now, we don't have to do it! :) 5 STARS! I noticed the fire extinguisher, always a good idea! (A guy in this area just about burned his house down last night, using lump charcoal on his wooden deck)! I always keep a 5 gallon bucket of water near! Just in case. Great video, as always! Gotta have that hat on!
Excellent video buddy! I enjoyed all of the descriptions you spoke of with the various grilling tools and gear that you use. This gives a great knowledge base to the BBQ world. Thank you very much. Showpa

I don't have all that gear, someof it I just won't ever use, but if check my kitchen, you'll find pretty much all those same staples.
-still always something I gotta run to the store for though, that never fails....

you should replace one or 2 of those cast irons. I saw some rust on one or two of them... not good for you.

Cast iron pans are a must in any outdoor cooking. Never have used graniteware, though.
