  • Lol your just like me, can't play in front of people without messing up, I usually just pretend no one's there and look at my fretboard, kinda like how the lead singer of 3 Doors down needs to be hypnotized before a show.

  • Plus if you love jazz or want to learn more jazz stuff look at charlie christian he was the number one innovator for jazz guitarist in 1941, he wrote some really just amazing songs , he was one of the major innovators for the electric guitar when they gave him the Gibson tradition the first ever then solid wood body guitar

  • All bs aside I've played guitar forever im 20 now and my influence is not john mayer lol it'd jimi hendrix, srv,Clapton, frusciante,bb king, big bill broonzy, muddy waters, kirk hammet, Mick mars, ygnwie malmsteen, chris impelleterri but anyway lol I own an american strat an I love her to death but squier is stepping there sound up I love the tone of this guitar it screams from every pore of it nitty gritty blues an rock an I love it damn sweet!

  • dude that guitar i could 199.99 dollars know

  • @SackBoy105 it's held up well! The only thing that's wrong is one of the tuner bent. :( invest 50 bucks in the hard case!

  • Can anyone help me out? This or a mexican strat

  • @spi9 This guitar is just as good if not better than a mexican strat. I own a mexican strat and this guitar and this guitar is way cheaper and its just an amazing guitar especially if you are a strat fan. Hope i was helpful.

  • @SuperMaggothead Thanks man, definatley considering picking one up now

  • @spi9 if you got the money go for a mexcican strat, but if you want to save money this one is cool to

  • Hey, I have a question. Im looking to sell my les paul copy towards one of these and as far as sound goes I was wondering if this guitar was good tone wise for playing some Old School Iron Maiden, Nirvana and like Van Halen? Lol sorry I know these arent really artists from the 60's lol Im just looking for a good strat I can use for this stuff.

  • Hey, man, I see that you posted this video a tad more than a year ago; how has the guitar held up? I want to get this guitar as a begginer/intermediate player and just wanted to know how has it held up. c: Hope you reply. ^^

  • @SackBoy105 you mean.... almost three years a go ;) lolol

  • guitar/you sound good! don't stop! great, great buy!

  • i got this one too :D

  • cheers to John Mayer for bringing the blues too fine young new players...BUT for the love of pete i wanna see more young talent NOT playing his licks for a change...bad enough he already has all the attention in the world from half the women in the world....JUST SAYING....

  • @looneytunes47 yup, i hear he's really talented. but the fiddle heads like us may not ever know...saw one of his vids, girls gah-LORE!

  • You know, guitars have pickup selector switches, you should have showed us all magnets positions...

  • @orfmor he did.

  • @MrPocketGuitar Yeah i know, sorry for that Spartan i was in a hurry while watching the videos, scrolled through it fast and did not realise that you were switching between magnet positions.

  • The CV series is the best bang for the buck right now. Better get one NOW before it's too late. That's what happened to the Squier '51, now they are making them at 10 times the price.

  • hey

is the CV worth the money or should i buy a mexican instead?

  • @sumindiandude I'd go for the CV 60's over a Mexican strat.

  • @365Avalon, yea, I just want to +1 that.

  • even justin bieber likes john mayer

  • great tone. i own one too. just as good as some of my custom shop jobs. who cares about sticky necks? i like gloss necks. nice playin, man.

  • The neck sticks only when its humid. I play outdoors a lot in Louisiana. Its HUMID

  • I bought this guitar used for $50 bucks. Best $50 bucks I ever spent!

  • classic vibe are excellent guitars they really are

  • i have one im a begginer.. but i love playing nice soft rock or creed with the mix of hard like one more breath this guitar is by far the best guitar for it i love love love this guitar i also love the classic vibe

  • Does it intonate pretty well?

  • What Song Are You Playing At 7.37? :) thanks

  • Comment removed

  • Good sound and you play in your own style keep it up man!

  • they dont have stripes because they put the truss rod under the fret board, in the maple necks they have to put the the truss rod in from behind

  • after watching this i feel like a LOSER at playing guitar... good work

  • beautiful guitar!!

  • they dont have the strip because they didn't in the 60s

  • nice playin bro.. we all gotta start somewere.. awsome tone great guitar..

  • ho well would red hot chili peppers songs sound on this guitar?

  • Hello. I am thinking about buying this guitar. it would be my first electric (i play 50$ acoustic for 10 months). Is this good guitar if i play mostly Led Zepp, Deep Purple and Sabbath stuff from 60s and 70s? How about its tuning? How long does it stay in tune? And what is the best amp to buy with it?

  • hi does this guitar work well with distortion? Plz reply thnx

  • @TheRealSonicYouth

Tried it with overdrive. Very good. Just like USA standard strat. Had 2 USA strats. Don't waste your money and buy the cheap one. The neck feels the same. A USA strat will not make your playing sound any better. Maybe it won't stay in tune very well if you perform live on a stage. But that you have to test yourself.

  • @koenibaby thanks man

  • Hey nice demo. Just wondering what was your beef with the cv 50s strat?( Im trying to decide between the 50s/60s strat)

  • Great playing dude! Ignore what some other people are saying, the Squier Classic Vibe Strats are awesome, surpassing most mim Fenders in my opinion (probably closer to mim classic player series). Some people just think that a $700+ axe automatically makes them good guitarists. Nope.

  • Congratulations for your sound and your playing and nice tone. I have the same guitar as you. And I am very satisfied! I know this guitar is equipped with pickups "ALNICO" but can you tell me if the microphones were "ALNICO 3 " or "ALNICO 5 "?? and I would like to know the difference between the two? I can not find informations on the Internet. thank you in advance for your reply. friendly

  • This is a real strat, man. Squier's Classic Vibe and Vintage Modified lines are really great. Right up there with Fenders, even.

  • SQUIER, you'll soon be mine!

  • In love with the tone, especially on the first thing you played.

  • dude get a real strat

  • Good Review...

Look my cover of layla with an squier strat.

  • u cud chk out the ibanez as 73. nince playing. :)

  • Kool, hope I was playinthis good at his age...you've got mature tone may friend, and that does not only come from a good sounding guitar, it comes from the soul...

    Dan

  • Hi there!! I really liked your review! I will buy one of these guitars but I've not decided yet witch one , 50's or 60's? because I'm trying to get John Mayer's tone, and I would like to have your opinion. what do you tell me? Witch amp are you using? and wicth effects are you using in this video? please can you tell me ? stay cool

  • thick neck ?

  • I just ordered the white and red one

    sunburst sucks

  • Wow, you've shown me, a 48 year old beginner on the Electric Guitar what's possible - hope I'm as good as you in a few years time !!

Well done and keep up the good work.

  • The Meters! Nice. I have this axe on lay-away. How do you feel about the hum? Are the pickups noisy? Noisier than tolerable?

  • im probably going to but this guitar. do you you think it would be a good back up for playing live?and is it good for stevie ray vaughan and jimi hendrix stuff?by the way these guitars are now $400 at my music store.

  • Jimi Hendrix is the way man...

  • Good review. The guitar nails the classic strat sound 100%. I'm thinking these things are one of the best deals going.

  • id tap that guitar

  • how much was the classic vibe?

  • You suck.

  • you need to listen to other blues stuff i can tell you like john alot but listen men there are greater guitarists out there to listen to and learn from, you can start by listening to SRV

john realy try to be like srv but he just can't get there...

  • @israeldogfather

John Mayer, at his best, doesn't sound all that much like SRV. The thing is, he's clearly got so much of Stevie in the blood and marrow of his playing, that it's gotta' be nearly impossible for him to leave it behind. Add to that the obvious influences of Hendrix, Clapton, and the Kings - who also were Stevie's biggest influences - and you've got an artist who's actually much like the rest of us: struggling to find HIS sound in a world full of too many guitar players.

    ... IMO

  • Just FYI, the reason the necks with rosewood fingerboards don't have the 'skunk stripe' is because they can rout em out from the front for the truss rod instead of the back - the maple necks they rout out from the rear since it's one chunk o' wood - nice playing, btw!

  • your not the best guitar player, but you know how to play a fender squier, i like it, cause you get nice sound of it with clean! well done

  • what the name of the song from 1:24 to 2:15?

  • @shinggum slow dancing in a burning room by john mayer search on youtube for "two rock demo" it'll come up with john mayer doing a version of it on guitar that sounds amazing

  • @shinggum

slow dancing in a burning room

  • @ElTone43 ohhhh, so you like justin bieber too? ;)

  • @Spartan867

Was that an insult? No, dont like beiber, but I can see mayer and beiber touring together. "Oh justin i like how your bubble gum tongue feels on my anus"

  • @ElTone43 You forgot the word Magnet at the end of your sentence.

  • @musymusic Nope, no he is a pussy, an over rated SRVaughnabe. He should just stick to the pop and quit trying to be someone he is not.

  • @ElTone43 ur just jealous, he is a musical genius, nuff said

  • @fenderfreak1994

You have got to be fucking kidding, musical genius? You ever hear of Curtis Mayfield? Cuz I'm sure you've heard "your body is a wonder land"

Gonna assume that 1994 was the year you were born with a comment like that.

  • @ElTone43 lol, or maybe cuz its in my nname? there is no reason to "dis" other musicians, john mayer is an incredibly smart and talented man, putting down another musician doesnt make you better or smarter, so why bother hating?

  • @ElTone43 Its all good; beautiful tone and practice makes perfect. The other thing is when your guitar sounds pretty it inspires you to play more... The more you play the better you get... without inspiration you will never make it. lol A few Pearls of wisdom from someone who has "bin there" and still inspired to play the blues and keep improving... Once you get into a band and jamming- you will become even more inspired and creative... All the best with your bright future...

  • @ElTone43 Ever heard Mayer play guitar? He's incredible...

  • @ElTone43 dude john mayer has bigger balls than chuck norris

  • @ElTone43 I dont like you.

  • More reverb on John Mayer songs, but good playing ^^

  • I bought one of these when they first came out and it plays as good or better than my american strat, it is on a level sooooo much higher than any mexican strat. oh yeah and mine was only $299 :), once they started selling the price got bumped 50 bucks

  • That was a sweet sound you were producing man love it. Keep up the good work

  • @skat4evr9 Thanks!

  • good job kid. very informative and you play great.

  • WHYYYYYYY do people remove the trem cover?!? I've been playing over a decade, and I don't think I've ever heard a reason (not one that made sense/was worth remembering anyway) o.0

*sigh* At any rate, pretty good playing here, Spartan867. I'm seriously thinking of selling my old, poorly modded MIM Fender 60s Strat and getting this:S

  • @yobhsiFehT Do it! Worth the money!

  • @Spartan867 you dont play regularly at gigs - its not practical- you break a string- its a pain in the ass. 1 and a half hours to re-string because the plate moves out of alignment from the holes when the string breaks and the tension is altered. Then because of the tremelo block your new strings wont stay in tune. Meanwhile the club owner is not happy you taking too long, your guitar keeps going out of tune and sound like shit! Next he's not paying you... Do you "get it" Now...

  • @Spartan867

I've recently changed my mind b/c these have one "fatal flaw" that betrays their Squier brand name: neck profile. It seemed to me like the shallowest possible C they could come up w/, and I'm a "chunky" neck player. Pity, too, b/c I don't remember having any other problems w/ it, really:/ Seemed great, overall, and I'd definitely recommend them. Guess *I'll* have to stick w/ MIM Classics, tho.

(And I know a lot of people will really like that neck, it's just not for me~shrug~)

  • @yobhsiFehT

    - supposedly it helps the guitar 'breath' hehe ;)

  • @yobhsiFehT

Back in the early days, it made re-stringing easier / faster because fender used a backplate that had six individual holes, as opposed to the long slot of today, which made it a real bitch to get strings into the tremolo block holes. There are also people who claim that the tremolo springs when uncovered, help add sustain from stage volume amps from behind. Personally, I don't buy that sustain shit for one second...

  • @Partsocaster you are right on both counts I still do not have the new slot plates- Still have the bitch to string old ones with 6 holes in the plates lol And the other reason you take the plate off is to replace the springs on the trem block- after a few months of whammy use the springs would get weakened-- fall off and get lost. Was never practical to keep taking the cover off and on- to restring or put a whammy spring back on that came loose... Plate got scratched up by your belt buckle...

  • @Partsocaster Also strings were inferior back in the day and the bridge saddles sucked. They were not as well made as the strings and saddles today. You snapped strings regularly particularly with whammy use etc... The string tensions were really high heavy gauge strings then.. it was worse if you could only afford one guitar it took over an hour and a half to restring- your guitar wouldn't tune.Tthe club owners would be on your case about taking too long a break and refuse to pay you lol

  • @yobhsiFehT I don't know why other people remove their trem covers, but here's my reason: I think strats have an 'old comfortable sneaker' vibe to them, especially when they look worn in. For me, this vibe is enhanced with the cover removed.

  • @camel747

If it's purely aesthetic for most people who do it (as I fear it is), then I shun you all as Elf-like cotton-headed ninnymugginses:P Seriously, tho, first time I ever saw it done was a picture of SRV, and I refuse to believe he did it for aesthetic reasons. So far, the "sympathetic-vibrations-from-the-amp-adding-sustain" explanation is the best I've heard so far, but I feel like those benefits must be on a sort of "Eric Johnson level" of tone consciousness like hearing battery brands:P

  • @yobhsiFehT Not true John does have his own style listen to all his own pop style songs. He has an Identity crisis wants to be a whirlwind like Stevie- there is only one SRV JM's original stuff does not match SRV so he copies Stevie. Not satisfied with who he is.... I was always told by these legend blues players... always be original then nobody can judge you...no matter how simple something is - you are the first person to think of it and the first to record it... that makes you special...

  • @TheStratplayer1

I'm having trouble decoding what you're trying to say. I ask in all seriousness, not trying to be mean: is English your first language?

It does seem like we basically agree, tho. I agree that JM has his own style (especially on acoustic). I just think most of his style is heavily based off of people like SRV and Hendrix. But like I was saying, SRV emulated Hendrix, Hendrix emulated BB King, BB emulated T-Bone Walker, etc. I don't think less of people for that sort of emulation.

  • @yobhsiFehT when I first bought My first Fender Strats in the late 60s and early 70's I meticulously kept everything on them that they had when brand new. The ash tray chrome bridge cover, the Tremolo backplate cover - lol everything. Then I gigged a lot. The frickin' ash tray cover always got knocked off in the case or fell off while I was playing "Rockstar" and I broke strings on my Only guitar- took me 1 and a half hours to re-string and the guitar kept going flat all night with new strings

  • @yobhsiFehT i do it for easy access for set ups, sound wise i dont really think it makes a difference, but eric johnson believes that it does make a sound difference

  • @hetfield2x4

Heh, well, Eric Johnson believes a lot of things like that;) Seriously, tho, do you recall WHAT he says that difference is?

  • @yobhsiFehT i remember that he himself says he doesnt know why, but he just says it sounds better and does not mention anything specific about why it sounds better....personally i really dont see why it would change the sound, my 2 cents

  • @hetfield2x4

Hm, and I thought, "If *anyone* has the answer, it'd be EJ," but oh well:P:D

    Thanks for replying!

  • @yobhsiFehT yeah i would've thought so too b/c he's so picky with his gear and tone

  • @yobhsiFehT i heard it just helps tone but i doubt its true

  • Great dude you rock!!:D

  • Great dude you rock!!

  • I think you are cool

  • I bought an epiphone les paul 3 years ago and i'm effin' pissed. you can't just make shit cherry sunburst and bust it out when 13-year-old kids walk in your store during the holiday season so they think its pretty and buy it. i'm definatly gonna sell it and buy this. Goddamn you, cherry sunburst.

  • Why, WHY?!

Tell em' that's it's human nature

  • what are you playing it through?

  • 50s= alnico 3, bright for weird 50s rhythms

60= alnico 5, badass john mayer shit

  • I just bought this same guitar and I'm impressed overall. Plays well, looks great and good price. I found it had a better feel than the mexican strats.

  • That little guitar sounds REALLY good! Do you know if the CV pickups are Alnico or ceramic bar? Thats a great guitar for the money. P.S. real 60's strats had no skunk stripe. With rosewood fretboards they just insert the truss rod then glue the rosewood on...in theory a stronger more stable neck, why the 70's maple necks always had bad truss rods. Good playing there too.

  • @Uz2Brockstar They are AlNiCo 5's. I think its an AWESOME guitar. And i STILL have it! Thanks for watching. :)

  • @Spartan867 The are not common alnico 5 they are toneriders :)

  • another thing, if you would need to refret the guitar some day, if you would want to do it on a cheap guitar? I would if it's a good guitar, anyway, the 1 piece maple necks are a pain to refret and will probably cost you a lot more cus they also need to put laquer on it

  • I discovered that the 60's didn't have skunk stripes, so the guitar is correct for the time period, it has to do with the way the trussrod is installed, in the 50's they used 1-piece maple necks so they installed the trussrod from behind the neck and then plugged the hole with another darker wood material, in the 60's this stopped and was not cessecary cus now the necks where in 2 pieces, the neck and the fretboard, so they simply installed the trussrod under the fretboard and then glued it on.

  • @satjathamma The Skunk stripe is made of Walnut wood. Just sayin'.

  • Nice review. I have the 50's. Apart from some tarnishing on some of the metal work (the neck plate mostly) it's great. Good value guitar.

  • thanks! very nice review, I will be getting one of those real soon:) I havent decided between the tele or the strat yet, maybe I just get a tele

  • I think its great seeing all these kids playing so well...screw the mistakes...hes young...One day he will knock um dead on stage

  • @bearboneskentuck Thank you!

  • @bearboneskentuck to bad all music that hits the billboard charts is auto-tuned shit.

  • @bearboneskentuck hell yeah!

  • @gtnick314 No pedals. Just a distortion boost on a vox, with the gain down, volume up. Really thick clean sound. Treble at about 8. Reverb at about 10.

  • Comment removed

  • are the covers really aged?

  • @JeffreyCentino97 Yes they are, but they are kinda of hard to see on here.

  • I would have to change the pickguard to black or something.

  • nice video!!!

  • how this sound if ran distortion or overdrive through it?

  • @ckyfanrick Really good, I'm trying to decide which distortion video to put on. The bridge pickup handles distortion really well.

  • I like the guitar a lot, but wouldn't pay $350 for it. I got a Dean Dime Shadow for the same price. I replaced the pickups, but I really love the tone on this guitar.

  • @johnnymfapplecore 350 is the price for this guitar package with amp and other shit

  • @ckyfanrick No, actually 350$ is the guitar only... This guitar is not part of a Start Pack.

  • @filipequintas i just saw it in musicans friends for 250 bucks with amp and all... yes $250

  • @ckyfanrick And I just searched musiciansfriend(dot)com for classic vibe and found this for 350$ and no start pack.

  • @ckyfanrick maybe thats the one with the frontman g-15

  • Those squiers is there a big different between the squiers 60' and fender 60'?

    And nice playing

  • does the guitar have alnico designed pickups

  • @skylineXpert Yes, it does.

  • @Spartan867 and does it have a massive body, cause i dont want to buy this kind of guitar if it dont have a massive body, instead of multi piece like the bullet/affinity series

  • How does this guitar sound with distortion? does pickups have gain?

  • @wildsidecrew Really good. No, there is no distortion on the pickups. I'll post up some other samples. I got a different amp tho, so i'm working to get it on here.

  • how does it handle jazz and blues?

  • @PippoBlues93 Pretty good.

  • it has a warmer sound and is more punchy because the pickups are alnico 5!!!! if u r lookin for a more rock and blues warm sound in general go with 60s. u want twang and funky i guess the 50 squier does better there or a tele.

  • i have a fender american standard strat with a maple neck, but i really want to get a squier with a rosewood, just incase i dont like it, is this a good one for its price?

  • awesome guitar!

  • Comment removed

  • How is the neck? it is comfortable'???

  • cool shirt!

  • Thanks man

  • can you write the name of songs that you played on this record ? please ?

  • Slow Dancing in a burning room - John Mayer

    Cissy Strut - The Meters

Life's Been Good - Joe Walsh

Just What I needed - The Cars

  • can you get a dist sound with this guitar?

  • You sure can. I'll post some videos this week.

  • excelent !

  • Sounds a little like a American Deluxe guitar. Fair price for a good guitar! Buy it!

  • I think I have read some were that the 50s use Alnico III (3) magnets wile the 60s use V (5)s.

I own the 60, and think its awesome.

The gloss neck and vintage tuners. I think it just ads to the Mojo.

    Good vid!

  • bro nice 2 see you playing john mayer, hes a great guitarist, if you like him check out stevie ray vaughan, funky!

  • how do you tune a non locking bridge?? Must you do it like the floyd rose style or you could just simply tune it like a fixed bridge guitars??

  • by the tuning keys?
