I'm guessing the non-perofist he was refurring to are the non-profits wich rely on government funding - not nessaserily the non-profits which neither pay or spend tax-dollars.
The typical conservative standpoint is that taxes should be made extremely low, government programmers should be eliminated. People and businesses would use the money they have from the lower taxes to increase business and create more jobs, and/or donate to non-profits which would replace government programs.

Well, Robert, maybe he's talking about the 300 employees of our community health center in Tacoma, WA. Or the 1199 other CHCs around the nation. All we do is provide medical care to anyone, regardless of their ability to pay. It must be our approximately 40 service providers (doctors, nurse practitioners and physicians' assistants) who work for less than their fellow providers in private practice. The funny thing about all of this is that it is actually the private sector that rapes and plunders and creates the need for the non profit. Non profits do not want to exist, who wants to run a soup kitchen? People should have the ability to work and be paid a living wage. The point Rush was making was that non-profit organization do not drive, stimulate or grow the economy. They are a support service, not a production service. He makes a valid point about some charity organizations. The President of the Am. Red Cross, or the Am. It's clear that Rush was talking about the perspective of the left in power now. Rush said "siphon contributions as their salaries" as if it were evil, in a sarcastic tone. He was mocking the left perspective. As a private sector supporter he wouldn't be presenting those that earn a salary in the private sector as evil. The only way you can is to ignore that he was mocking, take his comments literally and present them out of context. As Media Matters always does.

The funny thing about all of this is that it is actually the private sector that rapes and plunders and creates the need for the non profit. Non profits do not want to exist, who wants to run a soup kitchen? People should have the ability to work and be paid a living wage. Until the day when their services are no longer needed it is actually the non profits that fill the holes created by our society.

The point Rush was making was that non-profit organization do not drive, stimulate or grow the economy. They are a support service, not a production service. He makes a valid point about some charity organizations. The President of the Am. Red Cross, or the Am. Heart Assoc, the Law Enforcement Assoc (as mentioned in the vid) are not likely to be people on the verge of losing their home to forclosure. And the guy in the vid looks well paid as well. I doubt he hitchhikes to work.

They organizations don't pay taxes because no one gets paid out on the profits, it all says in the organization (which doesn't mean that people can't get paid well). However, I can't imagine how job training and providing a service that otherwise the government would have to provide is NOT supporting the economy...

I watched the original video and I believe Rush is referring to the liberals in the private sector who make names for themselves by donating to nonprofits. He is not referring to the nonprofits in bad terms, but the people who donate for their own gain.

If indeed Rush meant by whatever it is he said that ALL Non-Profits are full of lazy, useless people who sponge off society, then he is a moron. I believe it's more likely he was referring to the tens of thousands of Non-Profits who produce nothing and are nothing more than a scam to get out of paying taxes. The examples you gave don't fall in that category but we all know there are plenty of less than reputable NP's.
